Brooklyn Nets announce 2025-26 schedule. Get Barclays home game tickets
The Brooklyn Nets finally have an idea of what their 2025-26 campaign looks like.
On Thursday, Aug. 14, the NBA unveiled this coming season's schedule and revealed the path Jordi Fernandez's club will take toward redemption following last year's rough 26-56 effort.
To kick the regular season off at their home Barclays Center, returning stars Cam Thomas and Nic Claxton along with big-name free agent signees Michael Porter Jr. and Terance Mann will face Donovan Mitchell's Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, Oct. 24.

Other notable Brooklyn-based matchups to keep an eye on after that include showdowns with their crosstown rival New York Knicks (Nov. 24 and March 20, 2026), Steph Curry's Golden State Warriors (Dec. 29), former Net Cam Johnson's Denver Nuggets (Jan. 4), LeBron and Luka's Los Angeles Lakers (Feb. 3) and Cooper Flagg's Dallas Mavericks (Feb. 24, which will also serve as a reunion for former Brooklyn guard Kyrie Irving).
In addition to the new-look starting lineup, fans will likely want to keep an eye on the NBA record-tying five (!) first-round draft picks that General Manager Sean Marks made this past June.
They are:
No. 8 pick Egor Demin
a flex guard/forward from BYU, averaged 11.3 PPG in Summer League
Advertisement
No. 19 pick Nolan Traoré
a point guard from France, averaged 7.3 PPG
No. 22 pick Drake Powell
an athletic wing from North Carolina, he did not play in Summer League due to an injury
No. 26 Ben Saraf
a combo guard from Israel, averaged 7 PPG
No. 27 Danny Wolf
a forward/center from Yale, averaged 10 PPG
Interestingly, the most promising players from this year's Summer League run were Drew Timme — who played a handful of games with the Nets to end 2024-25 — who averaged 25.3 PPG and former Laker Quincy Olivari who netted 16.7 in the brief Vegas summer season. Tyrese Samuel and Tyson Etienne also impressed.
Also, of note, the team has a pair of preseason games against the Phoenix Suns at Macao, China's Venetian Arena on Oct. 10 and 12. Prior to that, they'll take on Israel's Hapoel Jerusalem at home on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Nuggets' starting lineup shakeup expected to pay off next season
Nuggets' starting lineup shakeup expected to pay off next season originally appeared on The Sporting News The Denver Nuggets have been one of the most interesting teams in the league this offseason, and it might pay off in a big way. Last season, the Nuggets saw their season end in a Game 7 of the second round for the second straight year. Following some massive changes toward the end of the regular season, the Nuggets did their best to make some noise in the playoffs. With a full offseason to prepare for next season, the Nuggets' new front office made some big moves. While the team improved its depth and even gave Nikola Jokic the best backup center of his career, the Nuggets' headline-stealing move was sending Michael Porter Jr. and a pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Cam Johnson While Porter was a generally reliable player, Johnson should bring a more team-oriented style of play to go with a similar outside shooting prowess. Add in Johnson's ability to play multiple positions as well, and he could end up being one of the best additions of the entire offseason. That same conclusion was made by Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, who expects the Johnson deal to be viewed as one of the best of 2025 by this time next summer. Buckley explained that this move was simply a perfect way to add some help for Jokic and company without truly sacrificing anything major. Although Johnson might not be a step up from Porter in counting stats, what Johnson provides on both ends should easily make up for any decrease in numbers from the starting forward spot.

Luka Dončić injury update: Lakers superstar hurt in Eurobasket play
Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Luka Dončić suffered an injury during Saturday's Eurobasket exhibition game for the Slovenian national team against Latvia. However, NBA insider Marc Stein indicated that it's not believed to be serious. Stein reported that Dončić was diagnosed with a right knee contusion, which shouldn't affect his availability for the 2025 NBA season. That's a relief for Lakers fans, as Dončić is the present and future of the franchise. Injuries are always scary, but injuries sustained in non-NBA activity can creep up on fans out of nowhere. Luckily, it sounds like Dončić's latest injury won't sideline him for long. We'll keep you updated once we know more about the NBA superstar. When will the Lakers' 2025 season start? The season starts in Los Angeles on Oct. 21 against the Golden State Warriors.

Luka Doncic suffers injury scare during Slovenian exhibition game, reportedly avoids anything serious
This is what NBA teams fear when their best players suit up for their country. Luka Doncic had an injury scare while playing for Slovenia in a tune-up game for EuroBasket when teammate Gregor Hrovat fell into Doncic's knee. Luka Doncic's teammate fell into him and the Lakers star appeared to injure his knee. Doncic asked out of the game and went back to the Slovenia locker room. Doncic limped back to the locker room but has avoided serious injury, reports Dan Woike of The Athletic. Doncic did not return to the game, however, he did return to the bench to watch the end of the exhibition against Latvia. We'll see what the diagnosis is once the doctors do more tests (LCL sprain?). Doncic impressed in the first half, scoring 26 points with five assists and five boards. Luka Doncic going to work in Slovenia's EuroBasket exhibition Lakers fans will be watching the rest of EuroBasket with concern... just like Bucks fans are watching the Greek side with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nuggets fans with Serbia and Nikola Jokic, and the list goes on and on.
