EastEnders' Jean tries to sabotage Kat's happiness in cruel move

Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) has made a cruel attempt at ruining cousin Kat's (Jessie Wallace) 'hag do' in EastEnders – as a last-ditch attempt is made to salvage their relationship. As viewers of the BBC One soap saw earlier this week, an emotional Jean lashed out upon realising that Kat had teamed up with her ex-partner Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) for a new business venture. The deal came just weeks after his affair with Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) was exposed, something which mortified her. Rushing away from Walford to spend time with Mo Harris (Laila Morse) and Fat Elvis, Kat was left to pick up the pieces in the Slater household. Harvey was offered a lucrative purchase – a limousine that could be used for wedding photoshoots. He couldn't afford it, but the seller thought up a cunning scheme to get his cash. Kat signed on the dotted line, unaware of the other bidder being Harvey. She was furious, but alongside partner Alfie (Shane Richie), decided they should capitalise on the mishap by getting him to fork out for the publicity. Alfie had an even better plan. He got down on one knee, and proposed. They could have a proper reception, and not have to pay for half of it! As they celebrated in The Vic, and with Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) quickly arranging a joint stag and hen do, Jean strolled in and assumed that they were all happy to see her return. But that wasn't the case. She felt excluded from the wedding, and was enraged to hear that Harvey was Kat's business partner. Dealing a slap, she told Kat that she was more than welcome to adopt the Moon moniker once again, as she was no longer a Slater. In tonight's episode, damage control began. Alfie urges Kat to put things right, but when she headed to speak with Jean, a huge argument broke out. Kat said that it was Jean's fault that Harvey strayed, and she needed to stop wallowing in self pity. With the hag do in full swing, and everyone donning leopard print, floral shirts and leather jackets, someone snuck into the corridor at Harry's Barn. It was Jean. She jabbed away at the fire alarm, attempting to shut down the bash, before rushing off. More Trending Kat followed, urging her to attend the wedding and to put everything to one side. It seemed that their dynamic would never be the same again. However, in a shock twist, when Kat got home, Jean was there. She realised that they couldn't go on fighting any longer, and as much as it would pain her to see Harvey at the wedding, she would be in attendance. Hurrah! View More » With everything seemingly back to normal, Kat logged onto the computer and was gobsmacked to find a porn website open – and a payment confirmation… blissfully unaware that her son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) was responsible. Nicola Peltz insists she's 'grateful to have beautiful people around her' as Brooklyn Beckham's family feud intensifies

Nicola Peltz insisted she's 'grateful to have beautiful people around her' in a gushing Instagram post on Thursday. The actress, 30, appeared in high-spirits in the snap as she was surrounded by her 'team' amid the ongoing drama with husband Brooklyn Beckham's family. She wrote: 'I love my team so much. I'm so grateful to have such beautiful people around me'. David Beckham, 50, and wife Victoria, 51, have become estranged from eldest child Brooklyn, 26, whose heiress wife has been blamed for the rift in the once tight-knit family. The Beckhams have largely remained silent in public about the rift, but they are said to fear that Brooklyn is falling increasingly under the control of Nicola. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Brooklyn recently said he is excited to build his own family with wife Nicola, as tensions continue to simmer between him and his parents. During a PDA-packed video shared released by Glamour Magazine, the eldest son of Victoria and David gushes multiple times that he can see kids in his future, and that Nicola will be an 'amazing' mother. Taking on the magazine's Friend Test, the pair are tasked with looking into each other's eyes for two minutes and revealing what they see. Romantic Brooklyn immediately gushes: 'I see us when we have our kids,' as Nicola adds: 'I see the future father of my kids.' 'The most important thing someone can do in their life is find that person for life because they'll really change everything and they'll make everything better,' Brooklyn later adds. And revealing what he has learned from his four year relationship with Nicola, Brooklyn honed in on his wife's nurturing nature. 'We have four dogs and the way she treats them, I feel like you're gonna be the most amazing mum with our kids,' he told her. As for Nicola she was keen to highlight her husband's 'pure, good intentions.' 'I like when you say be happy and follow your heart or go with your gut because sometimes I feel like your head is overthinking and your heart is super emotional but I feel like your gut is just that intuition that you just go with,' the US actress mused. In the magazine interview with Glamour Germany, conducted in April, the couple opened up about outside interference in their marriage and hinted at worsening relations with the Beckham clan, as they instead focused on the advice they'd received from Nicola's billionaire parents, Nelson and Claudia Peltz. While Brooklyn appeared to be deliberately omitting mention of his family, as he shared a different meaning behind the name of his hot sauce, Cloud 23. The aspiring chef's representative told last week how the number 23 was a 'warm nod' to David, who wore number 23 while playing for Real Madrid and LA Galaxy, inspired by NBA legend Michael Jordan, in a touching move that appeared to be an olive branch to his father. However, in the new interview, Brooklyn failed to mention his father, simply stating: 'The 23 stands for our engagement date and my age back then.' Elsewhere in the interview, he and Nicola also seemed to hint at interference in their relationship and the ongoing reports of the family feud. When asked how they 'protect' their relationship in the spotlight, Brooklyn stated: 'Ignore the noise. Keep your head down, work hard, be kind. People are always going to talk. What matters is that we're happy together.' While Brooklyn was present at the Victoria's 50th, both he and his wife failed to make an appearance at her 51st. And while his younger brothers Romeo and Cruz took to social media to pay their birthday tributes to their parents, on both occasions Brooklyn stayed silent. Brooklyn appeared to nail his loyalties to the mast when he posted an image on Instagram of himself and Nicola riding a motorbike, writing: 'My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you're the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby.'

Ex-England international wants more female role models in sport

Telford, from County Durham, achieved 27 caps in an England shirt and appeared in three FA Cup finals with Leeds United, Chelsea and Notts County. She lacked visible representation during her youth but since taking on her post-playing role working at Chelsea Women as a Commercial Manager, she can see new opportunities for young girls. 'I basically didn't have any female role models until I was a lot older,' she said. 'If I was asked that question as a youngster, I would have said David Beckham or David Ginola. 'I was in a school last week, and we were doing the trophy tour for the FA Cup. I sat down next to a group of girls, and I said, 'Oh, who are your role models?' and they said Sam Kerr, Millie Bright, Lauren James and that is just so normal for them. 'To see them writing their names down, wishing them good luck, it's just so inspiring for them to be like, I see myself in her, or I want to be like her one day.' A study by Sure in 2024 found that 58% of girls say that having a female role model strengthens their passion for football. Telford, who was part of a panel discussing the issue at Stamford Bridge this week, has been able to become the role model for others that she never had, spending eight years at WSL heavyweights Chelsea during her career. 'It's mad. I sometimes forget it, until someone's like, 'Can you sign my T-shirt? Can you sign my boot?','' she said. 'It's almost like a responsibility as well in the best kind of way. I didn't want to be a footballer for any other reason, I just loved it. I genuinely do. If you ask most of the girls who play the game, it's all for the love of it. 'The responsibility that comes with that is to always turn up as who you are, because there's always going to be a young girl, a group of girls that will be like, 'Oh, I sound like her, I look like her, I play the position she does.' 'Not all of us have a smooth journey. Just because when you get to the top, it looks like it's all great, and Instagram and TikTok can make it look all fun, actually it's a difficult role. 'There's a lot of rejection, sometimes confidence is low, you're not selected. There's a lot of things that you have to deal with but that also helps you prepare for life outside.' For Telford, that authenticity is key in allowing girls to connect with players and create role models who speak to wider aspects of life beyond elite football. 'Role models should allow girls to aspire to be Lionesses and want to be the best of the best, but also empower them to feel confident, to feel like they can do it, and that gives them life skills in the longer term as well,' she added. Visibility plays a vital role in inspiring young girls in sports, but it alone isn't enough. Increased visibility needs to be paired with real world grassroots investment – like Sure's Breaking Limits Programme – find out more here
