The Company is focused on advancing its portfolio of two prospective silver exploration and resource development projects, the Calico Project, in San Bernardino County, California, and its option on the Cinco de Mayo Project, in Chihuahua, Mexico.
With strong demand and a supply deficit since 2021, silver miners are actively acquiring land and developing projects to increase production and address the shortfall.
In line with the sector's growth strategy, Apollo Silver Corp. (TSXV: APGO) (OTCQB: APGOF) (FSE: 6ZF0) recently announce it has acquired 2,215 hectares of highly prospective claims contiguous to its Waterloo property at its Calico Silver Project.
From the news:The newly acquired claims, referred to as the Mule claims, comprise 415 lode mining claims and were acquired from LAC Exploration LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lithium Americas Corp. (TSX: LAC) (NYSE: LAC), which was the previous operator of the property. Preliminary mapping and sampling conducted by the previous operator of the Mule claims identified several high-grade silver targets, which will be evaluated as part of Apollo's future exploration planning.
Additionally, a mapping and sampling program was recently completed at the Burcham gold prospect area in the southwest region of the Waterloo property (see news release dated February 12, 2025). This program confirmed the Calico fault system's role in controlling silver (Ag) and gold (Au) mineralization in the area and identified potential for copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and lead (Pb) mineralization associated with stratabound and manto lenses.
Highlights:
Mule claims expand the Calico Project land package by over 285%, from 1,194 hectares to 3,409 hectares of contiguous claims.
Mule claims trend along the mineralized Calico Fault System responsible for mineralization seen at Calico.
Reports from the prior operator indicate that there are several strongly anomalous silver values on the property, which Apollo will attempt to ground-truth in the coming exploration programs.
Sampling done across the Mule claims by previous operator has identified a large Ag anomaly associated with the same suite of host rocks at the Waterloo property.
Exploration at the Burcham prospect at Waterloo included assays from 27 surface samples:
Assay peaks up to 14.10 g/t Au, 20.70 g/t Ag, 0.17% Cu, 22.80% Zn and 5.74 % Pb from various samples.
Identification of strata-bound lenses and mantos that show strong potential for Cu, Zn and Pb mineralization.
Ross McElroy, President and CEO of Apollo commented, "The addition of the Mule claims substantially enhances the Calico Project. Calico already hosts three discrete drill-delineated zones with resource estimates along a 4-km-long trend within the Calico fault zone. The Mule claims increase the project's land area by 2.5 times, strategically located to the east along this highly prospective mineralized corridor, offering significant potential for further discoveries. Apollo is committed to unlocking value in California for our shareholders."
The Mule claims, comprising 415 lode mining claims administered by the Bureau of Land Management, feature a continuation of the mineralized Calico Fault System, as identified through mapping and sampling by the previous operator. The sedimentary rocks of the Barstow Formation, which hosts the Waterloo silver deposit and the volcanic Pickhandle Formation are prevalent across the acquired claims. The contact between the Barstow and Pickhandle Formations has demonstrated potential for gold mineralization, similar to that at Waterloo. Sampling across the Mule claims has identified several strong Ag and Au anomalies. Apollo plans to conduct a follow-up exploration program to develop exploration targets and delineate this highly prospective contact.
Earlier this month, Pan American Silver Corp. and MAG Silver Corp announced a definitive agreement for Pan American to acquire all issued and outstanding common shares of MAG through a plan of arrangement. MAG, a tier-one primary silver mining company, holds a 44% joint venture interest in the large-scale, high-grade Juanicipio mine, operated by Fresnillo plc, which holds the remaining 56% interest in the joint venture.
More from the news:Under the terms of the transaction, MAG shareholders will receive total consideration of approximately $2.1 billion, equivalent to $20.54 per MAG share, based on the closing price of Pan American's common shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on May 9, 2025. The consideration comprises $500 million in cash and 0.755 Pan American shares per MAG share, subject to proration. This represents premiums of approximately 21% and 27% to the closing price and 20-day volume-weighted average price (VWAP) of MAG's common shares on the NYSE American (NYSEAM) as of May 9, 2025. Upon completion, existing MAG shareholders will own approximately 14% of Pan American's shares on a fully diluted basis, benefiting from participation in a larger, diversified, and growth-oriented silver and gold producer.
Michael Steinmann, President and CEO of Pan American commented: "Our acquisition of MAG brings into Pan American's portfolio one of the best silver mines in the world. Juanicipio is a large-scale, high-grade, low-cost silver mine that will meaningfully increase Pan American's exposure to high margin silver ounces. Furthermore, we see future growth opportunities through the significant exploration potential at Juanicipio as well as MAG's Deer Trail and Larder properties. This strategic acquisition further solidifies Pan American as a leading Americas-focused silver producer. We would like to thank the Fresnillo and the Juanicipio management teams for the constructive interactions and impressive site visit. Together, we bring many decades of operator experience in Mexico and Latin America to the Joint Venture and we are looking forward to a collaborative future and value generation for all shareholders involved."
George Paspalas, President and CEO of MAG commented, "This transaction represents a compelling opportunity for our shareholders, providing an immediate premium and meaningful exposure to Pan American's world-class assets and proven growth strategy. We are proud of what we've accomplished at MAG, particularly our partnership with Fresnillo which has created extraordinary value at the exceptional Juanicipio mine. Through the acquisition of our interest by Pan American - a respected leader in the global precious metals industry - our shareholders will participate in an exciting future defined by operational excellence, substantial exploration potential, and strong financial stewardship with significant portfolio exposure."
Dolly Varden Silver Corporation recently announced that, following its news release dated May 5, 2025, it has completed the acquisition of the Kinskuch Property in northwest British Columbia's Golden Triangle.
From the news:The Kinskuch Property is adjacent to the Company's Kitsault Valley Project and dramatically increases the Kitsault Valley Project size to approximately 77,000 hectares, covering some of the most underexplored and prospective rocks for silver, gold and copper mineralization in the Golden Triangle.
Dolly Varden completed its acquisition of the Kinskuch Property from Hecla Mining Company for consideration of $5 million, which was satisfied by Dolly Varden issuing 1,351,963 common shares of the Company to Hecla. Hecla will also retain a 2% net smelter return royalty on the Kinskuch Property area (the "NSR"). The NSR will include a 50% buyback right, for $5 million, that will allow Dolly Varden to reduce the royalty to 1% at any time. As per an existing agreement between Dolly Varden and Hecla, Hecla will maintain a designated position on Dolly Varden's Technical Committee, working together to unlock the potential of the underexplored areas.
The year began with a significant development for the sector when, in January, First Majestic Silver Corp. and Gatos Silver, Inc. announced the completion of First Majestic's acquisition of Gatos Silver under the agreement and plan of merger, as detailed in their joint news release dated September 5, 2024.
More from the news:On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, both First Majestic and Gatos Silver announced that they received all necessary shareholder approvals at the respective special meetings of each company's shareholders. Approximately 98.44% of the votes cast at the special meeting of First Majestic's shareholders were voted in favour and approximately 99.23% of the votes cast at the special meeting of Gatos Silver's stockholders were voted in favour.
Under the terms of the Merger Agreement, First Majestic has acquired all of the issued and outstanding shares of common stock of Gatos Silver and Gatos Silver is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of First Majestic. Stockholders of Gatos Silver will receive 2.55 First Majestic common shares for each Gatos Silver Share held, and cash in lieu of fractional First Majestic Shares .
"With the closing of this transaction, First Majestic is integrating a high-quality, long-life, positive-free-cash-flow operation into our portfolio of producing mines in Mexico. Cerro Los Gatos is truly a world-class district with robust production and cost efficiency, combined with significant exploration potential," said Keith Neumeyer, President and CEO. "Over the coming quarters, we will communicate our plans for Cerro Los Gatos, including strategies to realize synergies and integration throughout the business. I take this opportunity to personally welcome Gatos Silver shareholders into First Majestic as we create the industry's leading intermediate primary silver producer. Finally, I welcome our joint venture partner, Dowa Metals and Mining, with whom we look forward to working closely at Cerro Los Gatos as a supportive and trusted partner."
These acquisitions underscore the growing trend of land asset expansion and consolidation among silver miners.

This Soaring Hypergrowth Technology Stock Still Has Plenty of Room to Run

Coupang dominates the e-commerce landscape in South Korea. It is rapidly expanding in Taiwan. Even though the stock has surged recently, its valuation remains cheap for investors who are focused on the long haul. These 10 stocks could mint the next wave of millionaires › Coupang (NYSE: CPNG) stock, which had been trading above $25 in mid-February, sank to less than $20 in early April amid the market's negative reaction to President Donald Trump's tariffs. However, as of this writing, it sits at $28.45, a level it hadn't seen since the end of 2021. The South Korea-based e-commerce and technology company has kept growing its market share in its home market, and it's beginning to successfully expand into another country. Yet even with Coupang's market cap now surpassing $51 billion, there is still plenty of room for its stock to run in 2025 and through the rest of the decade. Shoppers in South Korea are flocking to Coupang. It has more than 20 million accounts in the country, which has a population of 52 million, and many of those accounts represent households with multiple people. Why is the platform seeing so much success? Because Coupang has built up an incredible e-commerce shipping system. It offers same-day delivery, as well as overnight delivery by 7 a.m. for orders placed by midnight the day before. Returns can be handled simply by leaving an item in a Coupang reusable package outside your door. The free delivery for groceries and food delivery services it offers are much better than even Amazon manages. All this is included for a cheap monthly subscription to its Rocket Wow program, which also includes a streaming video service. Through scale, automation, and brute-force efficiency, Coupang has been able to offer this incredible shopping experience while still generating positive cash flow. On $31 billion in revenue over the past 12 months, the company has generated $1 billion in free cash flow. This was with revenue growing by 21% year-over-year on a currency-neutral basis and gross profit growing 31% year-over-year last quarter. South Korea's annual retail spending amounts to hundreds of billions of dollars, so the company has a ton of room to keep expanding in its home market. Management is not stopping at South Korea. It recently launched the Coupang e-commerce model in Taiwan with great success. The business segment that houses the Taiwan unit grew its revenue by 78% year-over-year last quarter to $1 billion on a currency-neutral basis. While that segment is unprofitable today, Taiwan -- a rich and densely populated nation of around 23 million people -- is a similar market in many regards to South Korea -- and customers there will likely quickly come to appreciate the Coupang model. Taiwan and the rest of what Coupang calls its "developing offerings" segment lost $168 million in adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) last quarter, which was a headwind to its consolidated profits. However, I believe these expansions will drive a long-term advantage for Coupang. Management can funnel some of the profits it reaps in South Korean e-commerce to build up scale in Taiwan, which should eventually have similar economic characteristics to its home market. This expansion adds tens of billions of dollars to Coupang's addressable market, and Taiwan is only the second country it has launched its e-commerce platform in so far. I believe the party is just getting started for Coupang stock. Its South Korean e-commerce sales should keep rising steadily in the years to come, while Taiwan will deliver explosive growth. Adding to the appeal for investors is that the Korean won has recently been appreciating versus the U.S. dollar, which will make Coupang's revenue and profits more impactful for American investors. The company also got a bargain deal when it acquired the Farfetch luxury shopping platform out of bankruptcy. Its offerings should be well-suited to the South Korean market, which spends relatively heavily on fashion and luxury. Add everything together and I think Coupang is well on its way to $50 billion in revenue and eventually $100 billion in annual sales by the end of the decade. Management is guiding for its profit margin to reach around 10% at scale, which would equate to $10 billion in annual earnings on $100 billion in revenue. In all likelihood, Coupang's market cap will approach $200 billion or higher if the company generates $10 billion in annual income. That would be a price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) of around 20 -- not a demanding earnings multiple for investors to expect. Today, its market cap is barely over $50 billion, so this calculation points to the stock gaining 300% or more over the next five years. In that light, the stock looks like a buy for long-term investors even after its bump so far this spring. Ever feel like you missed the boat in buying the most successful stocks? Is Palantir a Top AI Stock to Buy in June?

Palantir's U.S. growth rate is impressive. Its international sales haven't been gaining quite as rapidly. The stock trades at a premium valuation. 10 stocks we like better than Palantir Technologies › Palantir (NASDAQ: PLTR) has rapidly become one of the most popular artificial intelligence (AI) stocks in the market. It's up by more than 600% since the start of 2024 and has gained more than 60% so far in 2025 alone. Few stocks will ever match that sort of jaw-dropping performance, but now, many investors are wondering if it's too late to buy Palantir. I think there's one guiding metric that will inform investors whether it is or not, and the answer may surprise you. Palantir provides its clients with an AI-powered data analytics software suite. While the ins and outs of what Palantir does are quite complicated, its platform can simply be described as data in, insights out. This basic concept isn't easy in practice, but it has earned Palantir a broad and growing customer base. Palantir's got its start assisting various governments around the world -- and such clients are still its most important customers. It has since then expanded into commercial markets and has seen success in that arena, particularly in the U.S. In Q1, Palantir's fastest growing segment was U.S. commercial, which saw revenue rise by 71% to $255 million. Its U.S. government accounts also saw significant growth, with revenue increasing by 45% to $373 million. One area where Palantir is lagging is global sales. This may not necessarily be Palantir's fault, as AI hasn't been as widely adopted as quickly by businesses worldwide (if you exclude China). Its total commercial sales were up 33% to $397 million in Q1, while total government sales increased by 45% to $487 million. Overall, it's still a rapidly growing business, and if its domestic revenues continue growing at the same pace they have been, Palantir will be just fine. Palantir's profitability has also improved recently, with its profit margin reaching a record high of 24% in Q1. To top it off, in conjunction with its Q1 report, Palantir's management team gave guidance for a strong Q2 -- it expects revenue to rise by 38% year over year. However, Palantir's management has a history of guiding low and then overdelivering, so investors shouldn't be too concerned that Q2's forecast growth rate is slower than Q1's 39%. All of these metrics point to Palantir as still being a successful investment, but there's one problem: the price tag. As mentioned above, Palantir's stock is up by more than 600% since 2024 began, yet its revenue has only risen by 40% and net income is up 172%. In short, the market is willing to pay more for Palantir's stock than it did in 2024. This occurred by a mechanism known as multiple expansion. Palantir's stock now trades at jaw-dropping valuations. Few stocks reach and sustain levels of 212 times forward earnings and nearly 100 times sales. Palantir's execution from here will have to be flawless and outperform expectations, or else the stock will get whacked. To illustrate how expensive Palantir's stock is, let's take a five-year outlook and assume that Palantir's profit margin improves to 30%, its growth rate stays at 40%, and its share count stays flat. Those are incredibly bullish projections, but we're giving Palantir the benefit of the doubt. Should those three things occur, in five years, Palantir will produce $16.8 billion in revenue and $5 billion in profits. That would be incredible growth, but if the stock simply stayed flat from now until then, it would be trading for 58 times earnings at that point, which is still quite expensive. There are so many better options out there for investors than Palantir. The company is growing like few others, but the price you'd have to pay for the stock today already has at least five years of incredible growth baked in. As a result, I think many other stocks will outperform Palantir over the next five years. Before you buy stock in Palantir Technologies, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the for investors to buy now… and Palantir Technologies wasn't one of them.
