i Light Singapore 2025 is back this May, featuring 17 light installations from 20 artists

Time Out05-05-2025
Singapore's mega light art festival returns to brighten up the cityscape. The much-anticipated i Light Singapore is back this May and June, and it's shaping up to be its most dazzling edition yet. This year's theme, To Gather, unites 17 light art installations created by 20 local and international artists. The works will be spread across Marina Bay, South Beach, and new locations along the scenic Singapore River and bustling Raffles Place.
Full details of the installations are still under wraps, but a few highlights have been teased. Bridge of 1000 Dreams will see Cavenagh Bridge transformed by 1,000 hand-painted bamboo poles, each glowing under UV light.
Another notable piece, Take a walk through the meadow with me, is a floral installation by a group of Singaporean artists. It features 300 flowers crafted from recycled acrylic scraps, brought to life with pressure-sensitive lights that respond to movement. Musical notes play in the background, adding a dreamlike quality as visitors wander through the space.
i Light Singapore 2025 runs from May 29 to June 21, 2025. Stay tuned to our page for the latest updates.

Embrace your inner child at Singapore Art Museum's newest free-entry exhibition

Singapore Art Museum's Learning Gallery, which opened at Tanjong Pagar Distripark last year, has just completed its first run. Now, the exhibition space enters its second cycle with an all-new programme, featuring never-before-seen artworks as well as returning favourites all by our very own Singaporean talents. Like its inaugural edition, this new season of the Learning Gallery invites visitors to see the world with a childlike lens – one where imagination knows no bounds. Centred around the theme of 'childhood', the featured works delve into themes of memory, identity, the idea of home, and more. One highlight that your inner child will love is Animal Roulette by David Chan – a wall filled with colourful animal figurines. Next to that is a series of nostalgia-inducing photographs by celebrated local photographer Nguan, featuring scenes of everyday Singapore all washed in his trademark pastel aesthetic. Slightly more macabre is Here's who I am, I am what you see by Ezzam Rahman. From afar, you'll see a display of flowers in bell jars, but head closer and you'll soon realise that the delicate blooms are actually made of the artist's own dried skin. Head on down to the gallery to see this in person and contemplate the true meaning behind his unconventional creations. There's also an interactive space with children's picture books, a play area with beanbag chairs, and a multimedia wall with animations that respond to movement. The Learning Gallery is located at Gallery 2 on Level 1 of SAM at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, and opens daily from 10am to 7pm. Its current edition will run till June 28, 2026. Entry is free and no bookings are required. Find out more here.

While you're dressing yourself up in red and white this National Day, take the chance to also wear your Singaporean pride on your screen – by that we mean sprucing up your phone with fresh new wallpaper that's specially created to celebrate our island city's 60th birthday. Local art collective GOFY has teamed up with 24 emerging artists – Singaporeans, overseas Singaporeans, and individuals with a connection to Singapore – to produce 40 original mobile wallpapers that you can download for free. With the SG60 theme 'Building Our Singapore Together' in mind, these relatable illustrations feature familiar local landmarks, our favourite dishes, everyday scenes at places like provision shops and HDB estates, as well as native flora and fauna – all done in each artist's unique style. Some are bright and cheeky, some dreamy with a watercolour effect, and some more reflective with broody dark tones, but what they all have in common is that they're a perfect ode to the place we call home. Of course, these SG60 illustrations remain relevant even past National Day, and don't just need to be used specifically for the occasion. In fact, there will be a second launch of artworks from an added pool of artists in mid-August, so stay tuned. How to check crowd levels and road closures this National Day
