Hands-on: The Honor 400 Pro is a flagship in disguise with some really cool features
The Honor 400 Pro features some impressive specs | Image by PhoneArena For those of you unfamiliar with the naming scheme Honor uses, the "hundred" series (actually, these started with double digits back with the Honor 50) is the company's take on the midrange smartphone with a stylish twist.Nowadays, though, this series has its own "Pro," vanilla, and "Lite" variants, just like a flagship model. The series has come a long way, offering some flagship features in its upper-tier models, both in the hardware and software departments.So, the Honor 400 series comes in three different flavors, and they are quite different indeed. The Honor 400 Pro is a quad-curved screen, triple-camera device; the vanilla Honor 400 is flat all around and has only two cameras; and the Lite model was actually released a month or so ago, featuring some modest specs but keeping in line with the stylish looks of the series.So, let's quickly go through these models and see how they feel and what they bring to the crowded midrange smartphone market. We will have full-blown reviews soon, so stay tuned for that too. The Honor 400 Pro looks and feels like a flagship. It has a triple camera setup on the back and a quad-curved 6.7-inch AMOLED display. Don't let the curved part scare you, though. It's not a radical radius, just a gently curved screen, reminiscent of what we used to call 2.5D glass. It makes the phone appear thinner than it really is and also makes it a bit more compact compared to a completely flat-screen one.The display is subjectively very bright; we tested it under direct sunlight, and it was impressively legible. Honor claims it can go up to 5000 nits, but we will test these claims in our lab later.
In the hand, you can't feel that this is a 200+ gram phone; it's a joy to hold. The back is slightly frosted, so no fingerprint magnet.

It's a trapezoid shape with three circular openings for the cameras, with the middle one offset to the right. On the front, there's a pill-shaped camera hole for the front snappers, featuring two selfie cameras.
The Honor 400 Pro comes with a flagship processor inside, albeit one generation older. It's the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and as you might've imagined, it works like a well-oiled machine. Everything runs smoothly with no hiccups or stutters. The 120 Hz display refresh rate also helps a lot. The camera system is pretty versatile. It features a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto with 3x zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. We're yet to snap some real-life samples with those three, but our first impressions at the venue were quite positive.Honor's AI efforts also deserve a couple of words (actually, there will be a separate article covering those, as they are really something). Alongside the usual Magic Portal, AI suggestions, and contextual visual search Honor has been doing in its phones, there is some new stuff in collaboration with Google.You can edit images with AI in ways that are truly fascinating. You can also use still images to create short videos, and the results are impressive. We will cover this in more detail, so stay tuned.

Now, the phone looks and feels amazing, but there are a few arguments to be made. First of all, it kind of tries to take the Galaxy S24 FE and the A56, but it's much more expensive. We genuinely think that the Honor 400 Pro is the better phone, but will people pay more for it? We can't say.

That date has been corroborated by Indian online retailer Flipkart, which revealed that the Infinix GT 30 5G+ will debut in India on August 8 at noon local time. Flipkart also revealed that the Infinix GT 30 5G+ will be powered by the Dimensity 7400 SoC and have 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of storage onboard. The smartphone will pack a 144Hz 10-bit AMOLED display of 1.5K resolution, which will have 4,500 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. Samsung Galaxy S25 FE will also feature a smaller battery, real image leaked

In addition, the leak has provided a real-world look at the S25 FE and, unsurprisingly, it looks just like the FE model that came before it. For example, it's thinner than the S24 FE ( 7.4 mm instead of 8 mm ), and it's lighter too ( 190 grams instead of 213 grams ). This is further proof of Apple and Samsung diverging in how they approach their smartphones moving forward. The battery on the Galaxy S25 FE will be 4500 mAh, while the S24 FE had a battery capacity of 4,700 mAh. While a reduction of 200 mAh isn't too bad, it's still a bit disappointing to see. Especially considering that previous reports were saying that the phone will have a 4,900 mAh battery instead. The thing is, this insider is generally very reputable, and there's another tipster backing up the claim of a smaller battery. However, a recent post which listed all of the Galaxy S25 FE specs claimed to have made a typo, and written down '4,500' instead of '4,900'. I would not be surprised if the typo caught on and people began to spread it around as fact. After the new Galaxy S25 Edge, it's very plausible that Samsung might sacrifice battery life for slimmer phones, but it's equally possible that the exact opposite happens. The S25 Edge will directly take on the upcoming new model by Apple, the iPhone 17 Air. I don't think that Samsung needs to sacrifice battery life on other models, and so I wouldn't pout about the S25 FE just yet. For all we know, this leak may be completely wrong, no matter how reliable the source is.

Deals: Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Honor Magic7 Pro get price cuts, whole Poco F7 series gets discounted
This week we have some camera titans from Xiaomi and Honor, discounted Google Pixels, Poco F7 phones for excellent performance on the cheap and a Galaxy S25+ deal that may be better than what Samsung UK offers. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is one of the best camera phones of the year with its 50MP 1'-type main sensor, 50MP 3x/70mm telephoto plus a 200MP 4.3x/100mm second telephoto module and a 50MP ultra-wide. It has always been pretty pricey, though. This is the cool-looking Silver Chrome color, by the way. Xiaomi 15 Ultra £295 off Read our review 16/512GB - £1,104 at Amazon UK The Honor Magic7 Pro is cheaper, but still packs quite a punch. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite like the Xiaomi. The main 50MP camera has a smaller but still large 1/1.3' sensor. There is only one telephoto module on board, but it's a 200MP 3x/72mm camera. And there's the 50MP ultra-wide too. The Honor has the bigger battery too, 5,850mAh vs. 5,410mAh for the global models, with comparable charging (100W wired, 80W wireless vs. 90W wired, 80W wireless). The Google Pixel 9 is up to £300 off, which makes it as cheap as it has ever been. But the more capable Google Pixel 9 Pro isn't far off with a solid discount of its own. Check out our detailed head-to-head comparison for a closer look at how these two stack up. Unfortunately, Pro models with more than 128GB storage seem to be out of stock. You can try your luck at the Google online store, but at the moment of writing that doesn't have any stock either. If you like high-end Snapdragons on the cheap, the Poco F7 family is the place to go. The vanilla Poco F7 offers a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for just £330 at the moment. It is paired with a large 6.83' 12-bit 1280p+ display with 3,200 nits peak brightness and a huge 6,500mAh battery. However, the camera is pretty basic. The Poco F7 Pro upgrades you to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (no 's') for just £50 more. Its display is smaller at 6.67', but it has a higher resolution of 1440p+. The battery is pretty big too at 6,000mAh. Our Poco F7 vs. F7 Pro article has more details. Then there's the Poco F7 Ultra – it's pricey for a Poco F, but this is as close to a proper flagship as the series has ever gotten. And it's hard to find a Snapdragon 8 Elite at just over £500 anywhere else. The 5,300mAh battery is on the small side, but it has fast wired (120W) and wireless (50W) charging. The camera has a 50MP 1/1.55' sensor, there is a telephoto module too, 50MP 2.5x/60mm, and a 32MP ultra-wide. Not amazing, but better than any previous Poco F. Here's how it compares with the F7 Pro. Another branch of the Xiaomi family tree has the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G. It is equipped with a 200MP main camera, but that's where most of the budget went – the ultra-wide has only an 8MP sensor. To be fair, we're looking at something that's quite a bit cheaper than even the vanilla Poco F7 and it offers a great quality 6.67' display for the class (1220p+, 12-bit, Dolby Vision, 3,000 nits with GG Victus 2). The 5,110mAh battery is on the small side, but since this is the Pro+ model, you get 120W wired-only fast charging. If you are looking at a Samsung Galaxy S25 model, check out the Samsung UK offer, which gives you a free Galaxy Watch7, plus a few other perks like 6 months of Google AI Pro (with 2TB cloud storage) for free. However, the base discounts are pretty small – e.g. the S25 and S25+ are only £100 off. Sure, the free Watch7 adds value and you get a minimum of £50 if you trade in an old phone. Still, the S25+ starts at £900. You can dodge the hassle and get the Galaxy S25+ for £700 after a £200 discount and additional £100 off at checkout from Amazon. No freebies, but a Watch7 may not be to your taste, anyway. The Samsung Galaxy S25 starts at £700 in Samsung's offer and if you want the small flagship, you should probably take it. Amazon UK has it cheaper at £650, but without the extra £100 at checkout, we think we'd rather pay £50 more and get the free watch. That £50 difference disappears with the guaranteed £50 trade-in value, anyway, so check your drawers for an old, forgotten smartphone. PS.
