BSP to widen base in Karnataka
As per a press statement, BSP chief Mayawati held an in-depth review meeting at the central camp office here on Sunday on issues like organisational preparation and increasing the party's base in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said, 'In every time of trouble, help the needy with full devotion according to your capacity, because only the oppressed can be the true helper of the oppressed, otherwise there is no dearth of people shedding crocodile tears for political gain.'
Mayawati expressed concern on the violence over language and caste. 'Such a tendency is fatal and all this happens when narrow politics of religion, region, caste and language etc tries to dominate the patriotism and love for the country,' Mayawati said.
She demanded the central and state governments pay special attention to important issues of public interest like inflation, poverty, unemployment, education and health along with law and order.

It is learned that the Supreme Court has accepted the Bar Association's request and restricted interns from entering the courtrooms on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays when footfall is typically higher. As INDIA bloc MPs continue to raise the Bihar SIR issue in Parliament, the Opposition parties want a united front outside the House too 'to put pressure on the government'. During a meeting of INDIA bloc floor leaders, it is learnt, the parties planned to hold a march to the Election Commission office in the Capital on August 6 or August 7. Members from all INDIA bloc parties are expected to take part in the march.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati on Thursday (July 31, 2025) criticized the newly imposed trade tariffs by the United States and urged the Indian government to protect national interests, particularly those of farmers and small businesses. The BSP leader added that such economic pressures by the United States should be met with resilience and transformed into opportunities for self-reliance. 'Despite the United States being described as a 'friendly' nation, the newly emerged challenge by US President Donald Trump imposing a 25 percent duty on Indian imports and a penalty on importing oil from Russia should be met with resilience and transformed into opportunities for self-reliance,' wrote Ms. Mayawati, on X, adding the country hopes the Union Government will live up to the assurance that no section, especially small and medium enterprises and the agricultural sector, will be adversely affected. The former four-time U.P. CM said India is a country of the world's largest population of hardworking people and if a policy is formulated to take the country forward on the basis of labour force providing work to every hand and implemented properly, then the country can certainly become a happy and prosperous with self-reliance as well as 'Sarvajan Hitaay and Sarvajan Sukhaay', in which the public and national interest is completely inherent and can also remain safe as per the humanitarian and welfare objective of the Constitution. United States President Donald Trump on July 30 announced a 25% tariff on Indian goods from August 1, with an additional but unspecified 'penalty' for its defence and energy imports from Russia.

Lucknow, July 31 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has strongly criticized the newly imposed trade tariffs by the United States and urged the Modi government to take decisive steps to safeguard national interests, particularly those of farmers and small businesses. Mayawati expressed serious concern over US President Donald Trump's decision to levy a 25% tariff on Indian exports beginning August 1, alongside "a penalty on oil imports from Russia, both of which she said could have damaging repercussions for the Indian economy". Despite the US being described as a 'friendly' nation, Mayawati emphasized, "Such economic pressures should be met with resilience and transformed into opportunities for central government should honour its assurance that no section, especially small and medium enterprises and the agricultural sector, will be adversely affected."
