Man found dead after vehicle crashes into slough west of Lodi
May 16—STOCKTON — A 60-year-old man was found dead after his vehicle crashed into a slough on Wednesday night west of Lodi.
Woodbridge Fire District crews responded to reports of a vehicle driven into the water at Eight Mile Road and Empire Tract Road at the ferry at 11 p.m.
Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle fully submerged and rescue efforts were turned over to the San Joaquin County Office's Dive Team for recovery operations.
The driver of the vehicle was later found deceased in the water, according the California Highway Patrol. No other information was available.
Man arrested on arson charges related to Rio Vista incident
RIO VISTA — CalFire's Arson and Bomb Unit and the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office arrested 47-year-old Kenneth Allen Hubbs on Wednesday in connection with an arson that caused about $700,000 in damage in Rio Vista in March.
According to reports, security camera footage captured a man using a hammer to break a rear sliding-glass door and enter a home on Sherman Island East Levee Road at about 1:34 p.m. on March 21.
Once inside, the man, later identified as Hubbs, ignited road flares and set fires in at least three separate locations before fleeing through the same door at roughly 1:36 a.m.
Sheriff's Office deputies located Hubbs on Wednesday after receiving an Automated License Plate Reader alert broadcast by the Arson and Bomb Unit. Hubbs was taken into custody without incident and booked on suspicion of arson of an inhabited structure, possession of an incendiary device and burglary.

He says the roving remote robot could be the eyes to help court security respond to a threat. 'Security is job one,' Mason said. He also agreed to address the new Chevy Tahoe we revealed on FOX 2 Thursday: 'Historically, the car for the Sheriff has been purchased from that budget, and that's what this Sheriff did.' Mason said funds were used that don't impact taxpayers; rather, he said they came from a pot of fees collected from things like the office's process serving. He said the vehicle will be Sheriff Montgomery's take-home car, adding, 'There's always a car available to make sure business is done and that's really what it comes down to.' 4 suspects facing 10 additional counts of attempted murder in Catawba Co. mass shooting
CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Additional charges have been filed in the weekend mass shooting that turned a house party into a deadly scene in Catawba County. Ten additional counts each of attempted first-degree murder have been filed against Toland Huff Jr, Zachary Bates, Izaiah Mitchell and Ke'andre Mack. These suspects received no bond and remain in the custody of the Catawba County Detention Facility. The four suspects, who investigators now call the 'Hillside Shooters', are all scheduled to appear in court Monday, June 9. Additional charges are pending. Wisconsin deputy hospitalized after exposure to meth smoke during search warrant
WHEATLAND, Wis. (WFRV) – A Vernon County deputy was hospitalized Thursday evening after being exposed to second-hand methamphetamine smoke while executing a search warrant in the town of Wheatland. According to the Vernon County Sheriff's Office, the deputy was treated at a nearby hospital and has since been released. Officials say the deputy is expected to return to duty. Backlund, 35, of Viroqua, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony bail jumping. Authorities noted that Backlund's arrest was unrelated to the original warrant being served. Backlund had previously been arrested in a drug-related case on May 29. He was released from custody on June 4 on a $1,000 signature bond—just 33 hours before the deputy was exposed.
