Brian Eno announces one-off benefit concert in London to raise money for Palestine

Daily Mirror01-08-2025
Termed as a 'gathering of artists, musicians, and people for whom silence feels impossible', Brian Eno is teaming up with Together For Palestine to host a fundraiser for Palestinians.
English musician, songwriter, and activist, Brian Eno has just announced a one-off fundraiser show at Wembley in support of the people of Palestine.

Termed as a 'gathering of artists, musicians and people for whom silence feels impossible', Eno took to his social media pages to announce the one-off show called Together for Palestine.

The show will take place on September 17 at OVO Arena Wembley and will see Eno donning the hat of an executive producer along with Khaled Ziada, Khalid Abdalla and Tracey Seaward. It comes after furious Bob Geldof issued a desperate plea on Sky News to save babies in Gaza.

Captioning his post as 'a letter to artist friends', Eno explained why he is organising the event via a carousel of pictures with text, stating: 'I've had the good fortune to work with some of the world 's most remarkable artists for over 50 years. But one of my biggest regrets is that during that time so many of us have remained silent about Palestine. Often that silence has come from fear — real fear — that speaking out could provoke a backlash, close doors or end a career.
'But that's now changing – partly because some artists and activists have lit the path, but mostly because the truth of what's going on has become impossible to ignore.'

Eno continued: 'What we are witnessing in Gaza isn't a mystery, and neither is it a blur of competing narratives making it 'hard to understand'. When dozens of non-partisan organisations like Amnesty International and Doctors Without Borders describe it as genocide, the moral line is clear. We can't remain silent.'
The musician then shared that he's helping to organise Together for Palestine, calling it 'a night of music, reflection and hope at Wembley Arena on 17th September.'

'My sincere belief is that this evening can become a moment of courage where artists come together to speak the truth in their hearts — which is what we trust artists to do. Whether on stage or by video from around the world, this is a chance for us to stand together and say: this can't continue.'
The Spider and I singer also confirmed in his post: 'Every penny donated will go to Palestinian partners through Choose Love, a UK charity supporting local humanitarians in conflict zones. Together we can raise millions in urgently needed aid for families in Gaza.'

The With or Without You producer reinstated that beyond financial support, the show is about 'sending a message of love and solidarity to the people of Palestine — that they haven't been forgotten.'
'We see them, we hear them, and though we may be far away, we're deeply connected – as we are to all humanity,' Eno concluded.

Brian Eno has consistently used his platform to support Palestine. Earlier this year, he urged Microsoft to cut ties with Israel and pledged to donate his fee from composing the Windows 95 chime to aid Palestine. In 2024, he called on the International Criminal Court to prosecute war crimes through an open letter addressed to the judges of the body.
Eno previously participated in a benefit event for Palestine at London's Union Chapel in April, alongside Nadine Shah and Maxine Peake. Eno also collaborated with members of Fontaines D.C., R.E.M., and Bastille in reading letters from Palestinians in Gaza as part of the 'Voices For Gaza' initiative.
More recently, he joined Kneecap, Fontaines D.C., Garbage, and others in publicly supporting a musicians' alliance led by Massive Attack, which speaks out against 'intimidations from within' the music industry towards those supporting Palestine.
Further details about Together for Palestine — including the full line-up of artists — will be announced at a later date. Tickets go on sale at 10am BST on Monday, August 4. Visit the official site here for more information.

'My wedding dress cost £350 was made in 24 hours - but the level of detail is insane'

A video has been viral of woman's detailed wedding dress which only took a day to make at the price of £350 leaving viewers shocked at the speed such a detail dress could be made A TikTok bride has gone viral after her jaw-dropping wedding dress turned heads for its bold colour, beaded detail and the story behind it. ‌ Benee, known as @Bkziah on TikTok, is Ghanaian and knew exactly what she wanted for her traditional wedding: a vibrant, intricately beaded Kente gown that reflected her culture. But it wasn't just the design that had people talking - it was the speed, her dream dress was handmade in just 24 hours. ‌ For many, the idea of pulling off a wedding dress in a few days sounds impossible. Weddings are often synonymous with hefty costs and long planning timelines especially when it comes to the dress. But Benee's journey flipped the script completely, it comes after a woman claimed 'My friend is naming her baby after a fish – she can't see how ugly it is'. ‌ In her video, she explains how she designed her dream gown herself and found a dressmaker in Ghana to bring the vision to life. But she quickly found out the process isn't easy. 'Getting your outfit made back home is not for the faint-hearted,' she warned, adding that while it's worth it for the cultural meaning, some of the quotes she received were way over budget. ‌ Eventually, Ghana-based designer @Dashis_label agreed to make the dress for £350 which worked out to roughly GH 7,000 in Ghanaian currency. A few weeks before the wedding, Benee flew from London to Ghana to get fitted - only to arrive and find out the dress hadn't even been started. 'You can imagine my bewilderment,' she said, adding that the delay left her 'unleashing her bridezilla.' But within 24 hours, the dress was done and all that had to be done was the final beading. 'I was blown away and so impressed by the work they had done.' A little over a month later, the dress was done and it came exactly how she designed it and Benee explained it made her enjoy the day more saying 'there's nothing quite like feeling good about how you look.' Videos of her wedding dress has gained huge traction on Tiktok, with people stunned by the design and just how quick it was to make. Help us improve our content by completing the survey below. The jetsetting duo, who describe being in a nightclub as their personal hell were horrified to discover that they would be staying in a "stinky" self-catered apartment right in the centre of the Greek Island's party capital Laganas. Used to five-star comfort, the couple described the bed as like "laying on a piece of wood", and the bathroom as "disgusting". "I believe this is way out of anybody's comfort zone", Brazilian beauty Isabella said, looking visibly repulsed. Advertisement The couple considered throwing the towel in before they'd even stayed one night in the hotel, despite their holiday companions, cash strapped single mums Gemma and Stacey describing the place as "lovely". The Hertfordshire besties, both 44, and the posh couple got off to a rocky start, with James declaring to the camera that the women are "not our type of people". And James and Isabella couldn't believe their ears when they found out that their budget for the trip would be just 135 euros. "That's usually what we spend on one dinner", Isabella said. Advertisement After probing more in to the couple's lavish lifestyle, Gemma and Stacey, who both struggle to feed the six kids they have between them on their £1000 a month Universal Credit money, were left gobsmacked to learn that James and Isabella have £5,000 a month in disposable income. Used to dining on salmon and avocado, the wealthy duo were less than impressed when party lovers Gemma and Stacey ordered them both a full English. However, the couple were given a reality check after seeing Gemma and Stacey, who sometimes can't even afford a tin of beans, haggle to get their breakfast's cheaper. Advertisement "It's not an easy life for them", Isabella realised. Despite at first being unwilling to join in, Isabella and James did admit to having fun at a budget day out to a waterpark. However, their worst nightmare came true when Gemma and Stacey dragged them out to a night on the strip. After being disgusted by the neon lights and cheap shots on offer at the nightclubs, Isabella and James decided to make a French exit before even entering a single bar. Advertisement Sick of living on the cheap, the couple blew their strict budget, and spent £40 a takeaway. "This is the best part of the holiday", James said. Despite admitting that the trip wasn't up their street at all, the posh pair did admit that the break had really made them think about the value of money. 4 The duo lasted just five minutes on the Zante trip Credit: Channel 5
