Man who posed as pupil to go to school arrested and accused of forgery

Daily Record22-05-2025

Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra was arrested on Monday after he posed as a teenager in January 2024 after a woman revealed he was the father of her child.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested for pretending to be a 16-year-old high school student.
Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra was arrested on Monday after he posed as a teenager in January 2024 after a woman revealed he was the father of her child.

According to a police report, he had contacted Perrysburg Schools in Ohio November 2023, wanting to enroll as a student, claiming that "he had been homeless and was an immigrant from Venezuela."

He also told the school that he was a victim of human trafficking, police said.
When he met with the school to begin the enrolment process, Labrador presented a birth certificate from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela with a birthdate of Dec 2, 2007, police said.
At the time, he told the school he was staying at an address in Toledo, and he started as a student on Jan. 19, 2024.
Kathy and Brad Melfred, who had housed exchange students in the past and had adoptive children, were contacted about Labrador. The Melfreds agreed to assist Labrador and he began residing with them on March 21, 2024, police said.
The couple was granted permanent guardianship over Labrador through the Wood County Common Pleas Court Juvenile Division and they also assisted him in getting a social security number and an Ohio driver's license, police said.

Then on May 14, the Melfreds were contacted by a woman, Evelyn Camacho, who stated that Labrador was "actually a 24-year-old and he was the father of her child," police said.
Camacho sent the Melfreds a picture of Labrador's driver's license with a birthdate of March 27, 2001, along with Facebook pictures of her with Labrador and a small child, police said.
Police said they reached out to the United States Border Patrol for assistance in the investigation, who advised that Labrador had an actual birthdate of March 27, 2001, an expired work visa and was considered "an overstay in this country."

Officials said his work visa expired the same year he reached out to Perrysburg Schools to enrol.
On Monday at 4.15pm., Labrador was arrested after he was located riding in a vehicle on Interstate 75 and was booked on forgery charges, police said in a statement.
Labrador was also a member of the junior varsity soccer and swim teams at the high school, and the district has reported the situation to the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

The suspect remains in custody at the Wood County Jail and his next court date is scheduled for May 29, according to jail records. It is unclear if Labrador has an attorney who can speak on his behalf.
Labrador's case has striking similarities with the case of Brian McKinnon who was in his 30s when he managed to enrol in a Glasgow school and posed as a teenager for two years.

The notorious imposter enrolled at Bearsden Academy in 1993, giving himself a new identity as a Canadian called Brandon Lee and putting on an accent to make his story more plausible.
Brian was 30 at the time and he gained five top marks in his Highers gaining him a place as Dundee University to study medicine.
But soon after his deception was rumbled as someone told the education authorities and leaked the story to the press.

The Scot made international headlines.
"I was never trying to recreate my original schooldays," he later recalled.
"I was popular enough the first time and got very good grades but I didn't really enjoy my last two years at school.

"Work moved slowly and I had been unable to do one of the subjects I wanted to do. When I went back as Brandon Lee I wasn't trying to be popular."
As well as focusing on his studies second time around, he also took part in extra-curricular activities. He was in the football team and even had a starring role in the school production of South Pacific.
The remarkable story of how Brian deceived classmates and teachers became a documentary film called My Old School featuring Alan Cumming as Brian.

Greg Monks 'likely to have fallen into ravine after attempting to scale fence'

Gary Monks' body was discovered down a ravine after he disappeared during a stag do in Albufeira, Portugal, a week ago, and a police source has said what likely happened A Scot whose body was discovered after he disappeared while on a stag do in Portugal is thought to have fallen down a ravine to his death after he jumped a fence while lost, according to police. Greg Monks, 38, disappeared during a stag party in the tourist trap of Albufeira in the early hours of May 28, sparking a desperate search that saw his heartbroken parents and girlfriend fly out to help find him, reports the Mirror. ‌ Greg was last spotted on CCTV in the residential area of Cerro de Aguia, located roughly four miles away from the main bar area and it is believed he was trying to return to his hotel. On Wednesday, Portugese police confirmed that the body of a 38-year-old man had been discovered in the search for Greg. Sources from law enforcement said investigators believe Greg, from Glasgow, got lost and fell to his death as he tried to get back to his hotel. ‌ Authorities said that having investigated possible paths he may have taken, they tragically found a body in the Cerro de Aguia area where he laid undiscovered for a week in high temperatures. The police source added: 'There is nothing at this stage to indicate this man's death was linked in any way to a crime. But we need to wait for the autopsy results to conclude that is the case.' He added: 'Our belief is he lost all notion of where he was after drinking heavily and finding himself in an unfamiliar place, and that he jumped over a wall and fell to his death.' Forensic officers have been seen at the ravine where Greg's body was found, gathering evidence. Authorities had said that the body was found "on a vacant and very uneven terrain" and that it was taken away for an autopsy. ‌ Following the heartbreaking news that the body had been found, Greg's sister Jillian paid a heartbreaking tribute calling him "an amazing boy". Rhayader man harassed ex through TV and ring doorbell camera

A POWYS man harassed his ex-girlfriend by speaking to her through her ring doorbell camera and logging into her television to post obscene messages. Over a month-long period in January, Jamie Hughes bombarded his ex with emails, followed her around Llandrindod Wells and threatened to slash her car tyres, leaving her filled with 'anxiety and dread'. Following their break-up, Hughes moved out their home but would access her ring doorbell via his phone and try to speak to her. He accessed her TV while she was in the house and left an obscene message on the screen, leaving her fearing she was being constantly watched via camera in her home. Hughes, 30, admitted a charge of harassment without violence before Llandrindod Wells Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, June 3. The charge states Hughes, of Maes Brenin, Rhayader, pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment, in that he sent inappropriate messages, unwanted and threatening emails and followed her. Prosecutor James Sprunks said Hughes was reported to police for harassment after the relationship ended on January 4. 'She asked him to remove himself from the app and give her the log-in details, but he refused," Mr Sprunks said. "He would contact her through the camera, asking to speak to her. 'He would ask her 'Who you seeing' and told her 'I know you had a lad around last night'. 'She also employed him for a week after the break-up but he kept contacting her for unrelated matters so she had to make him unemployed. 'He would send her abusive and urgent 'call me' emails. She repeatedly told the defendant she didn't want any contact. 'On one occasion she accidentally ordered a takeaway using his bank details. He wanted his money back and she said she would, on condition that he send her the log-in details. 'He told her 'If you don't give me the money back I'll slash your tyres'.' Mr Sprunks said Hughes was even able to access his victim's TV via an app, and left an offensive message. 'He was accessing the TV through an app. The TV would randomly turn itself off. 'She would go to work at a hotel and would often see him walking past. He would then send an email asking who she was meeting. He followed her into a car park once. 'She blocked the defendant on all platforms, but she couldn't on email. He hacked her Facebook account and blocked various friends and family. 'She said she always feels he's watching her through the cameras, which made her feel distressed.' Mr Sprunks read out a victim impact statement which said: "This has caused me the worst anxiety I've ever felt. 'I hope one day I can recover from this and he will understand the impact he's had and how much he's damaged my life.' Michelle Thomas, representing Hughes, asked magistrates for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. 'He has an elderly grandmother who he cares for and he has information to give to the probation service,' she said. Magistrates ordered the report and told Hughes to return to court for sentence on June 24.

Brit who vanished on stag do's likely cause of death given by police

Gary Monks' body has been found down a ravine after he disappeared during a stag do in Albufeira, Portugal, a week ago, and a police source has said what likely happened A British man whose body has been found after he disappeared while on a stag do in Portugal is believed to have fallen down a ravine to his death after jumping over a fence while lost, according to police. Greg Monks, 38, vanished during a stag party in the tourist hotspot of Albufeira in the early hours of May 28 sparking a major search that also involved his parents and girlfriend flying out to help look for him. He was last seen on CCTV in the residential area of Cerro de Aguia, located roughly four miles away from the main bar area. ‌ ‌ And tragically Portuguese police gave an update today saying that the body of a 38-year-old man had been found in the search for Greg. Sources from the law enforcement said investigators believe Greg, from Glasgow, got lost and fell to his death as he tried to get back to his hotel. Authorities said that having investigated possible paths he may have taken, they found a body in the Cerro de Aguia area. Because of the fact he laid undiscovered for a week in high temperatures, his body had begun to decompose. The well-placed police source said: 'There is nothing at this stage to indicate this man's death was linked in any way to a crime. But we need to wait for the autopsy results to conclude that is the case.' He added: 'Our belief is he lost all notion of where he was after drinking heavily and finding himself in an unfamiliar place, and that he jumped over a wall and fell to his death. The body was already in a state of decomposition when it was found.' Forensic officers have been seen at the ravine where Greg's body was found, gathering evidence. Authorities had said that the body was found "on a vacant and very uneven terrain" and that it was taken away for an autopsy. Following the devastating news that the body had been found, Greg's sister Jilian paid a heartbreaking tribute calling him "an amazing boy".
