Mehidy Hasan Miraz wins ICC Men's Player of the Month for April
New Delhi [India], May 14 (ANI): Bangladesh's ace all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named the ICC Men's Player of the Month for April, according to the official ICC website.
Miraz won the prestigious award over pacers Blessing Muzarabani and Ben Sears, becoming only the third Bangladeshi player to win the ICC Men's Player of the Month title, following Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan. This marks Miraz's first time receiving the award.
'It's an incredible honour to win the ICC Men's Player of the Month. The ICC Awards are the ultimate recognition for any cricketer, and to receive this from a global vote means a lot to me,' Mehidy Hasan Miraz said in response to the accolade.
He continued, 'Moments like these remind me of my journey -- being named Player of the Tournament in the 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup was a massive encouragement early in my career, and this award feels just as special.'
'I am truly delighted. This award will be a big source of inspiration for me to keep giving my best and contributing to Bangladesh's success on the world stage. The 27-year-old all-rounder displayed exceptional form during Bangladesh's series against Zimbabwe, accumulating 116 runs in two Tests at an average of 38.66 and claiming 15 wickets at an average of 11.86.
In the first Test at Sylhet, Miraz impressed with the ball, taking back-to-back five-wicket hauls. He claimed figures of 5/52 in the first innings and 5/50 in the second innings, although Zimbabwe ultimately secured a three-wicket victory.
The second Test was memorable for Miraz, who excelled with both bat and ball. After Zimbabwe was dismissed for a modest total in the first innings, Miraz scored an impressive 104 off 162 balls, anchoring Bangladesh's batting effort. He followed this up with another five-wicket haul, taking 5/32 in Zimbabwe's second innings, as Bangladesh won the match by an innings and 106 runs in Chattogram, levelling the series .(ANI)

RCB create history, end 18-year wait for IPL trophy as PBKS fall short in pulsating final
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 3 (ANI): Finally, after 18 years, it is party time for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as a brilliant spell from Krunal Pandya and solid pace bowling from trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal brought them their first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) title with a six-run win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday. The wait for the title continues for PBKS, who reached their first final in 11 years under the exceptional leadership of Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting. However, after 18 overs, skipper Rajat Patidar has lifted the title for RCB, with their superstar batter Virat Kohli getting his first-ever IPL trophy after 18 years with the team. Shashank's brilliance (61* in 30 balls, with three fours and six sixes) proved inadequate for PBKS as the flush of shots came too late for the team. Shashank hit three sixes in the final over, not giving up the fight till the last. Chasing a challenging 191, PBKS started off well with the opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh taking down Bhuvneshwar Kumar with a four and six, taking 13 runs in over one. Priyansh tried to dominate Josh Hazlewood with two fours, but a stunning catch from Phil Salt near the ropes took Priyansh back to the pavillion for 24 in 19 balls, with four boundaries. While the title clash was not very special for Virat with the bat, as he struggled to get his full rhythm during a knock of 43 in 35 balls, with three fours at a strike rate of just over 122, he still managed to get a record to his name. Now in 267 matches, Virat has scored 771 fours, outdoing former opener Shikhar Dhawan (768). During this season, he ended his campaign with 657 runs in 15 matches at an average of 54.75, with a strike rate of 144.71, with eight fifties. His best score this season is 73*. Also, he has the most runs by a single player against an opponent in the history of IPL, with 1,159 runs against PBKS at an average of 36.21 in 36 matches and innings and a strike rate of 132.60.
