Oklahoma Sooners kickoff times announced for 2025 season
Kickoff times for the Oklahoma Sooners 2025 season were released on Wednesday.
Six of the team's regular-season games have exact times; another two are labeled as early games, and four remain in flex with an opportunity to be in primetime windows. Early kickoff times are scheduled for either 11 a.m. or noon CT. The flex games are open to network discretion and will kick at either in the 2:30/3 p.m. window or the primetime window between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. CT.
Two of Oklahoma's biggest games on the schedule, against Michigan and Texas, are locked in. The Sooners host Michigan in Norman during Week 2, September 6, at 6:30 p.m. The annual Red River Rivalry game Week 8, October 11, against Texas, will take place during the prime SEC mid-afternoon time slot at 2:30 p.m.
Other specific kickoff games have been scheduled for the opener at home against Illinois State at 5 p.m., on the road against Temple in Week 3 at 11 a.m., and at home against Kent State during Week 5 at 3 p.m.
Oklahoma's two early games are at South Carolina on October 18 and at home against Ole Miss on October 25. Every other game - at home against Auburn on September 20, at Tennessee on November 1, at Alabama on November 15, and at home against LSU on November 29 - are the Sooners' flex games.
Eight of Oklahoma's 12 games will be in the afternoon or in primetime this season.
OU finished 6-6 during the regular season last year and lost its bowl game to Navy, supplying coach Brent Venables with a losing record in two of his first three seasons in Norman. The Sooners are largely expected to improve on last year's results, with new offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle and quarterback John Mateer having arrived from Washington State in the offseason.

FOX Super 6 UFL contest: Chris 'The Bear' Fallica's Championship picks

What's better than watching football? Watching football and winning money! You can partake in the best of both worlds while watching the UFL championship game this weekend with our free-to-play FOX Super 6 game. How do you play? Enter the UFL Super 6 contest by predicting the correct answers to six questions before the game starts for your chance at weekly cash prizes. All you have to do is finish in the top six to win a prize. It really is that simple, and again, it's free. And if you need a little help before heading to the app to make your picks, I have you covered this week. Read below for my thoughts on the 2025 UFL championship weekend. Let's dive into the questions and predictions below. 1. Which team will throw for the most PASSING YARDS in the UFL Championship? D.C. Defenders or Michigan Panthers The answer here for me is D.C. Jordan Ta'amu at quarterback for the Defenders has been exactly what they needed. In nine games this season, he has 2,153 passing yards and 17 passing touchdowns. The only player with better stats than this is Arlington's Luis Perez, who'll be sitting at home this weekend enjoying the championship game from the couch. Prediction: D.C. Defenders 2. Rank the receivers by who will have the MOST RECEIVING YARDS (highest to lowest): Siaosi Mariner, Chris Rowland, Cornell Powell, Malik Turner Tough one here between Mariner and Rowland to lead this group. Actually, it's almost a coin flip because when you look at the seasons that both of them have had, it's hard to give one a leg up over the other. Prediction: Siaosi Mariner, Chris Rowland, Malik Turner, Cornell Powell 3. Which player will have the MOST RUSHING YARDS in the UFL Championship? Toa Taua, Deon Jackson, Nate McCrary, Abram Smith Deon Jaackson has been an absolute beast this year. In 10 games played (five starts), he racked 417 yards on the ground. His longest rush of 57 yards is tied for the best in the league this season. Hard not to back him here. Prediction: Deon Jackson 4. Predict the TOTAL POINTS SCORED by both teams in the UFL Championship game: (12 points for one segment (ie; 0 to 40), 6 points for two segments (ie; 0 to 50), 3 points for three segments (ie; 0 to 55), 1 point for four segments (ie; 0 to 60+)) 0-40 or 0-50 or 0-55 or 0-60+ 40-50 or 40-55 or 40-60+ 50-55 or 50-60+ 55-60+ Last week, for conference championship weekend, I thought the games would be lower scoring. And wow! Talk about lighting up the scoreboard and proving me wrong. I'll adjust my position slightly for this championship game. Fireworks, anyone? Prediction: 40-50 points 5. Which of the following will occur? Michigan: 120+ rushing yards Bryce Perkins: 200+ passing yards Jordan Ta'amu: 240+ passing yards None I can't say with confidence that Michigan will get more than 120 yards rushing or that either Perkins or Ta'amu will eclipse those passing yards. If anything, I could see myself leaning toward Michigan getting over 120 yards on the ground, but I'm not sold. Prediction: None 6. What will be the outcome of the UFL Championship game? D.C. Defenders win, or lose by 2 points or fewer Michigan Panthers win by 3 points or more If you had told me at the beginning of the UFL season that these would be the last two teams standing, I wouldn't have believed you. Even if you'd told me that three weeks ago, I still would've said that it would be the Stallions or the Battlehawks. But here we are. And of these last two worthy squads, I'm going to back the Defenders to at least keep it close. Prediction: D.C. Defenders to win or lose by 2 points or fewer Tiebreaker: What will be the final score? Prediction: Panthers 30, Defenders 28 Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Mi Hyang Lee shoots an 8-under 64 to take a 1-shot lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic

BELMONT, Mich. (AP) — Mi Hyang Lee of South Korea played a six-hole stretch in 6 under and shot an 8-under 64 on Thursday to take the first-round lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic. Grace Kim of Australia was a shot back, a year after losing to Lilia Vu in a playoff that also included 2015 champion Lexi Thompson. Fellow Australian Karis Davidson, Akie Iwai of Japan and Sofia Garcia of Paraguay were two strokes behind at 66 in the final event before the major KPMG Women's PGA Championship next week in Texas. Only three of the top 10 in the world are at Blythefield County Club, with Haeran Ryu the highest-ranked player at No. 5. She shot a 69 in the afternoon. Playing in the morning on the tree-lined course, Lee birdied Nos. 5-8, parred the ninth and eagled the 10th after surprising herself by reaching the green in two on the par-5 hole. 'I didn't expect I can hit the green there for my second shot,' Lee said. 'But it was a great line and good hit with the 3-wood and I made the green. It was almost 24 feet, like right-to left-eagle putt. I didn't expect to make it.' The 32-year-old player capped the bogey-free round with birdies on Nos. 14 and 17. She won the last of her two LPGA Tour titles in 2017. 'I missed only two fairways,' Lee said. 'I think that's a lot of help to hit the greens a lot, too.' Kim chipped in for eagle on 10 and for birdie on 11 in her morning round. 'That was a good start to the back nine,' Kim said. 'Just kind of saved pars early and then loosened up as we went on. That was quite nice.' She won the 2023 LOTTE Championship for her lone tour title. The 22-year-old Iwai made five birdies in a seven-hole stretch from the eighth to the 14th, then rebounded from a bogey on 17 with a birdie on 18. Her twin sister, Chisato won in Mexico in May for her first LPGA Tour title. Chisato Iwai opened with a 73. Minjee Lee was at 67 with Caley McGinty, Ruixin Liu, Andrea Lee, Gabriela Ruffels and Jiwon Jeon. Andrea Lee was the only U.S. player in the top 11. Thompson shot a 68. Vu had a 77. ___ AP golf:

Arlington prepares for global spotlight as 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches

With just one year to go until the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, preparations are well underway in Arlington. AT&T Stadium is set to host nine matches — the most of any venue in North America — and officials expect millions of fans to flock to North Texas during the month-long tournament. "A lot of times people say that it's nine Super Bowls," said Matt Wilson, executive director of the Arlington Sports Commission. "It's even more than that." City leverages experience with major events Arlington, already a seasoned host of major sporting events, is drawing on years of experience to prepare for the international spotlight. "We'll take all the lessons that we've learned over the past 10, 15, 20 years here to make sure that people have the best experience they possibly can," Wilson said. Thousands of people are expected to gather in Arlington's entertainment district, whether or not they have tickets. City leaders say the infrastructure is ready to handle the crowds, pointing to the success of events like the Texas Rangers' World Series parade in 2023. "First and foremost, we want to have a safe and fun environment, and preparations are well underway to make sure that's the focal point," Wilson said. Economic impact expected to be massive The World Cup is projected to generate an estimated $2 billion for the North Texas region and boost tourism across the state. "Folks will be here for the games, but then they will also have time to explore communities and to branch out to see more of Texas and all that we have to offer as a destination," said Erika Boyd, president and CEO of the Texas Travel Alliance. Local businesses gear up for global visitors Local hotels, restaurants, and businesses are already preparing for the influx of international visitors. "And the experiences that we create for visitors in Texas have a lasting economic impact for the state and actually help to offset the household taxes that all Texans pay," Boyd said. A global stage and a lasting legacy As the countdown continues, local leaders are embracing the opportunity to showcase the region on a global stage. The hope is that Arlington's moment in the spotlight will not only impress the world, but leave a legacy that lasts for years to come.
