D.C. Defenders or Michigan Panthers
The answer here for me is D.C. Jordan Ta'amu at quarterback for the Defenders has been exactly what they needed. In nine games this season, he has 2,153 passing yards and 17 passing touchdowns. The only player with better stats than this is Arlington's Luis Perez, who'll be sitting at home this weekend enjoying the championship game from the couch.
Prediction: D.C. Defenders
2. Rank the receivers by who will have the MOST RECEIVING YARDS (highest to lowest):
Siaosi Mariner, Chris Rowland, Cornell Powell, Malik Turner
Tough one here between Mariner and Rowland to lead this group. Actually, it's almost a coin flip because when you look at the seasons that both of them have had, it's hard to give one a leg up over the other.
Prediction: Siaosi Mariner, Chris Rowland, Malik Turner, Cornell Powell
3. Which player will have the MOST RUSHING YARDS in the UFL Championship?
Toa Taua, Deon Jackson, Nate McCrary, Abram Smith
Deon Jaackson has been an absolute beast this year. In 10 games played (five starts), he racked 417 yards on the ground. His longest rush of 57 yards is tied for the best in the league this season. Hard not to back him here.

4. Predict the TOTAL POINTS SCORED by both teams in the UFL Championship game:

Last week, for conference championship weekend, I thought the games would be lower scoring. And wow! Talk about lighting up the scoreboard and proving me wrong. I'll adjust my position slightly for this championship game. Fireworks, anyone?
Prediction: 40-50 points
5. Which of the following will occur?
Michigan: 120+ rushing yards
Bryce Perkins: 200+ passing yards
Jordan Ta'amu: 240+ passing yards
None
I can't say with confidence that Michigan will get more than 120 yards rushing or that either Perkins or Ta'amu will eclipse those passing yards. If anything, I could see myself leaning toward Michigan getting over 120 yards on the ground, but I'm not sold.
Prediction: None
6. What will be the outcome of the UFL Championship game?
D.C. Defenders win, or lose by 2 points or fewer
Michigan Panthers win by 3 points or more
If you had told me at the beginning of the UFL season that these would be the last two teams standing, I wouldn't have believed you. Even if you'd told me that three weeks ago, I still would've said that it would be the Stallions or the Battlehawks. But here we are. And of these last two worthy squads, I'm going to back the Defenders to at least keep it close.
Prediction: D.C. Defenders to win or lose by 2 points or fewer
Tiebreaker: What will be the final score?
Prediction: Panthers 30, Defenders 28

Jim Harbaugh on NCAA penalties from Michigan's Connor Stalions saga: 'I'm not engaging'
Jim Harbaugh wasn't too keen to weigh in on his latest NCAA punishment. The Los Angeles Chargers coach was asked about Michigan's penalties from the NCAA for the Connor Stalions scandal after his team's 23-22 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Rams. And Harbaugh made his statement about the matter pretty simple and straightforward. 'Like I said to you last year, I'm not engaging,' Harbaugh said in his postgame news conference. Harbaugh was given a 10-year show-cause penalty by the NCAA as part of the punishments for the advance scouting scheme. The NCAA said that Harbaugh had a frosty relationship with the Michigan compliance department and that 'aspects of the record suggest that there may have been broader acceptance of the scheme throughout the program. At a minimum, there was willful intent not to learn more about Stalions' methods. However, the true scope and scale of the scheme — including the competitive advantage it conferred — will never be known due to individuals' intentional destruction and withholding of materials and information.' Stalions got an eight-year show-cause penalty and Michigan was fined tens of millions of dollars including future revenues. The school was not given a postseason ban, nor was it forced to vacate any of the wins accumulated during its 15-0 national title season in 2023. The school said Friday that it was appealing the penalties. In the moments after the win, the Rams poked a little fun at Michigan's punishment on social media. Harbaugh left for the Chargers less than two weeks after Michigan won that national title as it became clear during the season that he was not long for college football. Friday's show-cause penalty was the second one that he's received in the past 13 months. In August of 2024, the NCAA suspended him for a year and gave him a four-year show-cause penalty for recruiting violations. Overall, the show-cause penalties mean that any school that looks to hire Harbaugh over the next 13 years must go in front of the NCAA and justify how his hiring won't lead to any other broken NCAA rules and the governing body has the right to stop the hire. However, given that Harbaugh is entering his second season back on the sidelines in the NFL, there's no current need to worry about his future in college.

Tight end Tarik Skubal? Maybe even slot him in at middle linebacker? Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch says that he could see it. Before the Tigers' game Saturday night against the Twins, the team's skipper hopped on the Detroit Lions' broadcast on WJBK (Fox-2) to talk about the other biggest team in town. Familiar voice Jason Benetti, the Tigers' full-time play-by-play announcer filling in on football for the day, called in a favor to get Hinch in for a quick call about the manager's thoughts on the team rocking Honolulu blue. After some initial audio issues, Hinch, Benetti and former Lions offensive lineman T.J. Lang joked that it was Benetti's fault that right when Hinch got on the broadcast the Dolphins scored. And Hinch sarcastically agreed. "I blame Benetti for everything," Hinch said. UP AND COMING PROSPECT: Hao-Yu Lee could join Tigers soon. Here's what he learned from Riley Greene this spring Eventually, Lang broached the topic of what Skubal might look like on a football field, and Hinch said that topic had been broached long ago. "We actually talked about it. David Shaw and I went to school together," Hinch said. "He just joined the Lions' coaching staff and he came in and said hello, got to go behind the scenes, I introduced him to Tarik and Tarik claimed he wasn't big enough to him to play in the NFL, which is crazy. He could probably play any position. "We settled on tight end as the spot that he would be, probably more inside the 20 than necessarily in open field. But he's big enough to play on that line." While it's hard to doubt Skubal's athletic ability, it's safe to say Hinch will do just about anything to keep him on the mound and not the gridiron.
