Apple iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro Release Date: New Schedule Emerges
Apple's next iPhones will be unveiled next month, that is, September 2025. But exactly when? A new report adds an extra couple of possibilities. In a new post for Cnet, Tiffany Connors writes about the possible variations. I've previously written that I am sure that the Apple keynote that reveals the phones will be on Tuesday, Sept. 9, though one day either side is also likely. The new report also homes in on the week before, saying that Wednesday, Sept. 3 is also likely. 'Historically, Apple has made the announcement on the first Tuesday of September after Labor Day, according to CNET Senior Editor Patrick Holland, who's reviewed mobile phones for a decade. However, the first Tuesday in 2025 is the day after Labor Day, so Apple could push the dates for its iPhone event to Wednesday, Sept. 3, or Tuesday, Sept. 9. That would mean a release date of Sept. 12 or 19, Holland said,' Cnet claims. I absolutely agree that if the release is in the first week of September, then it certainly won't be on the Tuesday, because of Labor Day. However, lovely though it would be to see the new phones earlier rather than later, I believe Apple will avoid this week. Not least, the large-scale consumer electronics show, IFA, is happening that week in Berlin. This is a big event, on the same size as or bigger than the annual CES in Las Vegas. Apple will not want to shout above the noise of something happening in the same week. Which leaves Sept. 9 in the frame again. Apple iPhone 17 Series Release Date Assuming the iPhones are indeed unveiled on or around Tuesday, Sept. 9, the actual onsale date will be the following week. Apple always favors Fridays to put its flagship iPhones to go on sale, which will mean Friday, Sept. 19. Right now, that seems sure to be the date to mark in your calendar.

Canada manufacturing PMI shows activity declining for sixth straight month in July
TORONTO (Reuters) -Canada's manufacturing sector contracted for a sixth straight month in July as tariffs undercut trade with the United States and spurred firms to reduce inventory as well as staffing levels, data on Friday showed. The S&P Global Canada Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) edged up to 46.1 in July from 45.6 in June but remained well below the 50 no-change threshold. A level below 50 indicates contraction in the sector. The PMI has posted sub-50 readings since February. 'Canada's manufacturing sector continued to struggle in the face of tariffs during July, with output, new orders and buying activity all declining at noticeable rates – albeit to lesser degrees than seen in recent months," Paul Smith, economics director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said in a statement. "Unsurprisingly, it was again trade with the United States that remained especially challenging, with firms noting reduced demand and sales volumes from US-based clients." The new orders index rose to 44.2 from 43.5 in June, while the measure of new export orders was at 41.9, up from 40.2. The U.S. is set to increase tariffs on Canadian goods not covered by a continental trade pact to 35% if the two countries do not reach a trade agreement by August 1. Canada sends about 75% of its exports to the United States. "For companies facing a hugely unpredictable business environment, it has become increasingly important to run operations as lean as possible," Smith said. "And such considerations inevitably led to further cuts to both employment and purchasing activity.' The stocks of purchases index fell to 44.1 from 44.6 in June, posting its lowest level since May 2020, as firms sought to run down their inventory levels, while the employment index was at 46.2, down from 46.7. One silver lining was reduced input cost inflation. The input price index fell to its lowest since November, at 57.0 from 61.4 in June. Germany to Deliver Air Defense System to Ukraine After Attack
Germany will deliver two additional Patriot air-defense launchers to Ukraine in the coming days, following one of the deadliest Russian attacks on Kyiv since the Kremlin launched its war against Ukraine. The German delivery is the result of an agreement with the US, which Bloomberg reported earlier. Berlin will send equipment to Kyiv from its own inventories, while President Donald Trump's administration will agree to replace the weaponry from industry stocks.
