K-pop sensation BTS celebrates return of bandmates after military duties paused music career

Daily Mail3 days ago

Ecstatic K-pop fans have celebrated the news that BTS is one step closer to getting back together after two of its band members finished their duties in the army.
RM, 30, and V, 29, began serving in December 2023 - and were discharged from mandatory military service in South Korea on June 10.
The seven-member boy band temporarily disbanded in 2022, to allow each of its members to enlist. In South Korea men ages 18 to 28 must serve two years in the nation's armed forces.
The country's parliament passed a bill in 2020 allowing the group to defer their service until the age of 30.
The duo emerged Tuesday in Chuncheon, South Korea to about 200 fans - many of whom traveled from all over the world for the jubilant moment.
Fans, who were stationed on a soccer field, held up signs and photos of the singers, taking pictures and videos as RM and V saluted their fans.
RM even serenaded the onlookers with a saxophone solo.
Two more of the group's seven members had already completed service. The remaining three wrap up soon. V told fans they'd only have to wait a little longer for the men to re-emerge as a unit.
'Performing is what I want to do the most,' RM told the waiting crowd.
Since their hiatus, both RM and V released solo projects. RM came out with 'Indigo' in 2022 and 'Right Place, Wrong Person' in 2024. V's 'Layover' came out in 2023.
The BTS 'army'- as they lovingly call their fans - is anxious for the group's reunion. Jimin and Jung Kook are set to be released from their military duties on June 11. Suga, who chose alternative service, will return June 21.
Jin, the oldest member, was discharged last year. J-Hope was released in October.
Representatives for the group confirmed that they have plans to reunite later in 2025, after all seven members are relinquished from their duties.
Fans could not be more excited.
Those that couldn't make it all the way to Asia for RM and V's resurgence, chimed in on social media, expressing their enthusiastic excitement at the long-awaited return.
'You thinks it's bad with RM and V wait till tomorrow when JK and Jimin get discharged,' wrote one fan on X.
'WE ARE SO BACK'
'Welcome back! I'm so proud of them for serving their country!'
'THEY ARE FINALLY HOME AND FREE'
Some fans even documented signage throughout Seoul that read 'BTS is Back,' in celebration of the group's quickly approaching return.
BTS hasn't released music together since 'Map of the Soul: 7' in 2020, which they canceled the tour for due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After five years, fans are desperate to see the group live again. And they hope that now, it's just a matter of months.

Kristin Cavallari left stunned as her first boyfriend makes crass jibe about their sex life during their reunion

Kristin Cavallari has explained how her public reunion with her first love went sour. One of the 38-year-old former MTV star's most famous romances was with her high school sweetheart, Stephen Colletti, but she was previously involved with a middle school boyfriend named Johnny. Kristin explained on the latest episode of E!'s Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour, 'I'm going to be pulling up Johnny, my very first boyfriend from Chicago. I've talked about him a couple times on the podcast. We were as in love as you could be at the tender age of 13 and 14.' While she had fond memories of their relationship, her childhood ex had a different perspective as he reduced their bond to sex. Cavallari told the live audience, 'I would wake up in the morning and I would have poems on my window.' But Johnny rebutted: 'You'd wake up next to me. That's the podcast version. To be clear, you would actually greet me in outfits just like [the one you're wearing now]. I saw you come out in this and it's hard.' On Wednesday's episode she shared that Johnny was 'nervous' about appearing as a guest in front of a live audience, so she provided him with the questions she planned to ask him as a courtesy. 'For people who don't do this, it's f**king nerve-wracking,' the mom-of-three said. 'So, I even appreciate him getting up.' And the blonde bombshell explained how she came up with the idea to feature her former beau on the tour. 'Johnny was actually coming to the Chicago show anyway,' she noted in a confessional in the episode. 'I was like, "Wait a minute, this could be really fun." We all know how it is to get over your first love — it's very difficult. And I do wonder if I've sort of, like, changed the narrative in my mind all these years. To have his perspective is gonna be awesome.' Worse than downplaying the depth of their relationship, Johnny went on to accuse the star of hooking up with his friend. 'Before you left, you were sampling Barrington, [Illinois],' he added. 'You broke my heart, actually, because you hooked up with my best friend [Tommy].' The former Laguna Beach cast member clapped back, 'I don't even remember Tommy. I hooked up with Tommy?!' She went on to express her disappointment in a post-show interview, 'Johnny is a massive letdown. It honestly breaks my heart because for all of these years I have held my relationship with Johnny in this high regard. And then he got up on stage and he was a completely different person.' Cavallari emphasized, 'He was the only person I gave the questions to beforehand because obviously he doesn't do this stuff. 'He knew exactly what I was going to say, so, to me, it just feels premeditated, like he wanted to come out there and tear me down. These memories that I've had with Johnny all of these years are now just completely ruined.' Kristin continued to reel over the shocking, blindsided interaction the following day. 'You wanna trash me in front of my f**king audience?' she vented to best friend Justin Anderson. 'It's f**ked up! It's really f**ked up. I hate Johnny.' Even more confusing, she said that Johnny followed up the tour appearance with a gushing text. 'You were amazing last night,' she read aloud. 'Thanks for such a fun escape from reality, definitely needed that. You're gonna absolutely crush the rest of your tour. No doubt about it.' Another former flame, Talan Torriero, joined her on tour, along with other Laguna Beach classmates. Unfortunately, she had a similar experience with Torriero. The experiences prompted her to take a hard look at the patterns in the men she chooses romantically. 'I actually don't even care about looking like an idiot in front of the audience,' she confessed to Justin. 'This is a much bigger thing for me. It's the theme of my whole life. With Talan, it's like, "Okay, it's expected." Then Johnny, it was like, "Oh my god!" Like, no guy has ever taken accountability in my life, ever.' Kristin was married to Jay Cutler from 2013 until their split in 2020. The divorce was finalized in June 2022. They share sons Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, nine. The Uncommon James founder has also been open about recently cutting ties with her 'narcissistic ' father.

Wind Breaker – Season 2 Episode 11 Recap & Review

Episode 11 Kanji and the rest excitedly celebrate at a restaurant where one of the Roppo-Ichiza members works. Even though they're mostly unscathed, and Suzuri and Shizuka are with them, some aren't that happy. Nirei is scared out of his mind, and Sakura is furious at the guy who attacked them. So, we go back to the start of that new confrontation. The strange tattooed man jumps off the roof of a bar, trying to copy the 'hero landing' they see on TV. Instead, he hurts his knees and complains about how hard it is. Still, Kanji and Tsubaki don't laugh at all his clownery; they put up stances, ready for a fight. When the guy starts speaking seriously again, Sakura and Suou do the same, noticing a shift in his tone. Suzuri intervenes, saying his deal was with him, which angers everyone. Even those who knew the mysterious man didn't expect he'd be the one behind everything. He actually was a Furin student from the same year as Tsubaki, but he left the school. His name's Endo Yamato, and he's a legend among the students. However, not knowing him, that doesn't impress Sakura, who insults him for trying to kidnap Shizuka. What affects the boy, however, is that Endo says he was there in the attack against KEEL, and he saw Sakura desperately fighting. With that, he realized Sakura didn't belong in Furin. Nirei is the first to jump out and defend Sakura, screaming Endo can't say that without knowing them. Tsubaki, Kanji, and Suou quickly follow behind, talking with their fists. To them, there's no one more fit to be in the school than him. Endo easily evades their blows, that is, until Sakura joins in and kicks him, which obligates the former student to defend. Yamato tries to calm their nerves, saying he doesn't think Sakura is beneath the school; it's quite the contrary. In his opinion, Furin only drags him down, so Sakura would be better off alone. When the boy says he's the only one who can choose where he goes, Endo forms a wicked smile, remembering someone else. Because of that, he gets excited to 'play' with them a little. But Suzuri comes in between them again, saying it's not their fault. He grovels in front of Endo, begging him to leave the others alone. The guy laughs hysterically at how humiliating that is and tells him he can solve their problem alone, intimidating the old man who ordered Shizuka's kidnapping. After that, he leaves, completely carefree, but not before scaring Sakura once again. It's clear he's a force to be reckoned with. Back to the present, Suzuri apologizes to Sakura about Endo, but the boy says he doesn't need to do that. He's only mad at Endo, so no one else needs to be sorry. Then, they start partying again and bring out a console, as Suzuri's biggest wish is to play games. He has a lot of fun doing that, even though he's awful. Tsubaki gets so happy with the situation that his eyes water. Sakura also plays for the first time, but he gets furious for losing every round. To this day, Endo has only given compliments to one person, so Kanji worries about what he wants with Sakura. Because of that, Tsubaki contacts Umemiya, who organizes a meeting with the three boys. The next day, Sakura, Suou, and Nirei go to Furin's roof to meet all the devas and their aides. The episode ends right when Umemiya is ready to start their discussion. The Episode Review Wind Breaker gives us its newest antagonist and the one behind every conflict we've seen throughout the season. Endo already feels like a threat by the way he looks, but his attitude is way worse. The episode doesn't give that much attention, but even with 4 people going against him, they can't land a single blow. The only one who hits him is Sakura, but he still defends himself. If Sakura has this guy going after him, he needs to step up his game fast. And talking about that, the gaming session is a nice change of pace here. The anime doesn't downplay Endo's arrival, but it gives us a chance to spend some time with the new characters. Tsubaki almost crying over Suzuri's happiness is a nice touch that shows how much being yourself is important to him. That's actually at the core of many characters in the series, but Sakura and Tsubaki embody it perfectly. The next episode is a big one because everything indicates Umemiya is finally telling the boys about when he changed Furin. With Endo being a former student, it makes a lot of sense for him to have been one of Umemiya's enemies in the past, as well. But there's probably another bigger problem, or at least there were. Sakura reminds him of someone, and that same 'someone' is the only person Endo ever complimented. As this new arc will be so deeply rooted in Furin and Umemiya's story, it's hard not to get excited. ‘Tense' painting of Liam and Noel Gallagher could fetch £2m at auction

A painting of Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, created in 1996 by Elizabeth Peyton, is set to be auctioned at Sotheby's for an estimated £1.5m to £2m. The painting, titled Liam + Noel (Gallagher), was inspired by a 1995 photograph of the brothers and finished the same year Noel reportedly hit Liam with a cricket bat. Sotheby's specialist Antonia Gardner notes the painting's 'prescient' nature, capturing the 'quiet tension ' of the Oasis rivalry, which has now come 'full circle' with their reunion. Peyton is known for her artful renditions of cultural icons, often feminising her subjects, as seen in her depictions of Liam and Noel. The auction precedes Oasis's reunion tour, marking their first shows since splitting in 2009, with Liam expressing regret over the 'wasted years' of their feud.
