Haryana: Model killed on suspicion of being in another relationship
A 30-year-old man arrested on charges of murdering 23-year-old Haryana-based model Sheetal Chaudhry told the investigators on Tuesday that he 'killed the model because she was planning to marry another man', police officers aware of the matter said.
The accused, who is married and has two children, was produced before a local court in Panipat, which sent him in two-day police remand, officials cited above said, adding that Sheetal's mobile phone and slippers were recovered from the car of the accused Sunil.
According to Panipat deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Satish Kumar, CCTV footage from the night of June 14 shows Sheetal and Sunil getting into his car.
'A heated argument took place when Sheetal started talking to a man (whom she wanted to marry) and Sunil lost his temper. He took out a knife from the dashboard of the car and attacked her. Then, he threw Sheetal's body in a canal in Panipat,' the cop added.
The body of the model was found in a canal in Kharkhauda area in Sonepat district on Monday, a day after her sister Neha filed a missing complaint on the night of June 15, saying that Sheetal left home to shoot a music video on June 14, but did not return, police said, adding that Sunil was arrested by Monday evening.
Neha said that before Sheetal started making music videos, she used to work at Sunil's hotel in Karnal till six months ago.
ASI Anil Kumar, investigating officer from Urlana Kalan police check-post in Panipat, said Sunil and Sheetal had reportedly been friends for 4-5 years and she worked at Sunil's hotel in Karnal till six months ago.
Kumar said that when she worked at Sunil's hotel, the two were allegedly in a relationship but she started maintaining a distance from him after she got to know that he was a father of two.
According to Panipat deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Satish Kumar, Sunil confessed to killing Sheetal with a knife. 'Sunil suspected that Sheetal was in a relationship with another person…On June 14, Sunil went to Ahar village in the district where Sheetal had gone for a music album shoot. After the shoot, he pressured her to go to Panipat with him,' the DSP added.
Police said that Sunil was planning to dispose of his car but Sheetal's body was found before he could do it.
According to police Sheetal, who also used the alias of Simmy, got married to a man from Panipat, Sandeep Kumar, nine nine-years ago and got divorced four years back due to frequent disputes over her wish to pursue a career in modelling. The couple has two children.

"Sonam Ran Away After Hitman...": New Details In Honeymoon Murder Case
Sonam Raghuvanshi ran away after Vishal Singh Chauhan - one of the hitmen hired by her - struck her newly-wed husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, with a machete for the first time, police said. The 24-year-old woman left the crime spot as 29-year-old Raja started bleeding and screaming in pain and returned only when he died after being attacked multiple times, the police said. The developments came as a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder took all the accused, including Sonam, to Meghalaya's Sohra, around 65 km from capital Shillong, to recreate the scene where the crime took place. The Indore-based businessman was brutally murdered by Sonam, her lover Raj Kushwaha, and three hitmen, during the couple's honeymoon in Meghalaya last month. The other hitmen were identified as Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi. All the five accused have been arrested. Police said an investigation and recreation of the crime scene revealed that Vishal was the first one to attack Raja with a machete. "When he started bleeding and screaming, Sonam ran away. Vishal and the other (hitmen) Vishal continued to attack Raja with the machete," one of the police officers said, seeking anonymity. "Sonam returned to the spot only after Raja died in the attack," the officer added. Police said a second machete that was used to murder Raja was also recovered during this period. The second "dao" (machete) was found inside the same gorge, below the Wei Sawdong Parking Lot at Riat Arliang, from where Raja's body and another machete were recovered. Initially, police thought Raja was killed with only one "dao". However, it was only during the recreation of the crime scene on Tuesday that the police learnt about the second weapon. The case initially began as that of a "missing couple", after Raja and Sonam could not be traced during their honeymoon in the northeastern state, but took a tragic turn and revealed a shocking betrayal. The couple - both from Indore - got married on May 11. According to the police, the wedding took place despite Sonam's relationship with Raj, who worked as an accountant at the furniture sheet unit owned by her family. Sonam used to look after the family business. After their wedding in Indore, Raja and Sonam travelled to Meghalaya for honeymoon. They disappeared on May 23, hours after checking out of a homestay at Nongriat village, 20 km from where Raja's body was found on June 2. Amid an intense search for "missing" Sonam, she surfaced in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur on June 8 and later surrendered at Nandganj police station. This came hours after Akash, Vishal, and Anand were arrested from Uttar Pradesh and Indore and Sagar towns (in Madhya Pradesh). Raj was arrested later. On June 11, Sonam reportedly confessed to killing her husband. Police said her cousin, Jitendra Raghuvanshi, had cleared the first installment of payment to the three hitmen. Sonam's brother Govind said his family has snapped all ties with her. He also expressed solidarity with Raja's grieving family members and vowed to help them in their fight for justice in a case which has shocked the nation.

Not treating love triangle only reason behind Raja Raghuvanshi's murder: Meghalaya Police
The Meghalaya Police probing into the murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi said they are not treating the "love triangle" between the victim and the two accused as the only motive behind the murder. "Preliminary investigation has revealed that the motive is love triangle, but we are trying to explore if there's anything more," East Khasi Hills superintendent (SP) Vivek Syiem said. The superintendent of police made the statement as the Meghalaya Police recreated the crime scene in Sohra, around 65 km from Shillong. The police also brought all the accused in the murder, including Raghuvanshi's wife Sonam and her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha to the crime scene amid heavy security. The police have also found out the second machete allegedly used in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi. 'We have ascertained that there was one more machete (apart from the one that was recovered)... They have replayed how they threw away the two machetes,' Syiem said. US-based gangster's aide held with three pistols in Hoshiarpur
Hoshiarpur police said on Tuesday that they have arrested an operative of US-based gangster Sarav Jindal alias Saubi and recovered three pistols from his possession. Accused Neeraj Kumar, a resident of Hardo Khanpur in Hoshiarpur district, along with Saubi's other associate Hemant of Jalandhar, were involved in drug and weapon supply in Hoshiarpur and its surrounding areas, said senior superintendent of police Sandeep Kumar Malik. He revealed that Hemant was arrested on May 14 by CIA staff with a country-made pistol. 'With these two arrests, the police have succeeded in breaking a big network of drug and weapon supplies. A hunt is on for other members of the gang', said Malik.
