Lil Durk faces bond setback as feds seize unreleased song in murder-for-hire investigation
According to court documents reviewed by Complex, the government obtained the unreleased track, titled 'Scoom His Ass,' through a federal search warrant on a co-conspirator's phone. Prosecutors argue that the song's lyrics—including references to 'riding through Beverly Hills with choppers'—mirror details of the alleged crime and should be considered when evaluating Durk's bond eligibility.
The defense, however, has pushed back. Durk's attorney, Drew Findling, recently challenged the prosecution's use of lyrics in the indictment, citing another song—'Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy'—that was written before the crime allegedly occurred. 'Unless the government is prosecuting Banks on a theory of extra-sensory prescience, the lyrics could not have soundly informed the grand jury's finding of probable cause,' Findling stated, per Billboard.
Prosecutors have since maintained that Durk remains a flight risk and argue that his latest bond request offers no new information of substance. The rapper, whose legal name is Durk Banks, continues to await trial from custody.
In a recent phone interview with DJ Akademiks, Durk shared that he's focusing on spiritual growth and learning Arabic while in jail, saying, 'I've just been focused on life, my family… I'm getting my knowledge together.'

Denzel Washington weighs in on cancel culture amid 'Highest 2 Lowest' promotions
Denzel Washington is making his stance on cancel culture clear. The two-time Oscar winner, currently starring in Highest 2 Lowest, told Complex that he does not concern himself with public approval or the risk of being 'canceled.' When asked whether he worried about cancel culture, Washington responded, 'What does that mean — to be canceled?' After the interviewer explained it meant losing public support, Washington replied, 'who cares? What made public support so important to begin with?' He continued, 'I don't care who's following who. You can't lead and follow at the same time, and you can't follow and lead at the same time. I don't follow anybody. I follow the heavenly spirit. I follow God, I don't follow man. I have faith in God. I have hope in man, but look around, it ain't working out so well.' Washington added, 'You can't be canceled if you haven't signed up. Don't sign up. Don't get me started. My chest started hurting. You know, chest is getting tight talking about it.' This interview comes just days after Washington stated he is 'not that interested in Oscars.' Speaking with Jake's Takes, he said, 'I don't care about that kind of stuff. I've been at this a long time, and there's time when I won and shouldn't have won and then didn't win and should've won. Man gives the award. God gives the reward.' Highest 2 Lowest opened in theaters this week and begins streaming on Apple TV+ September 5.

The Weeknd breaks Beyoncé's record with historic ‘After Hours Til Dawn' tour
The Weeknd has officially made touring history. His After Hours Til Dawn tour, which began in 2022, has now grossed $635.5 million and sold just over 5 million tickets, making it the most successful R&B tour of all time. The milestone was confirmed by Billboard, which reported that the achievement puts him ahead of Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour, which held the previous record with $579.8 million in 2023. The tour, which has spanned several years and continents, passed the $600 million mark following two sold-out shows in Philadelphia at the end of July. That accomplishment makes it only the ninth tour in history to reach such numbers, and it is the only one led by an R&B artist. The Weeknd is also now the only Black artist to sell more than 5 million tickets during a single tour. While Beyoncé's place in touring history remains secure with her recent Cowboy Carter Tour still holding the record as the biggest country tour ever, The Weeknd's feat marks a historic moment for R&B. His run has grown into a celebration of three albums, including After Hours, Dawn FM and his latest release Hurry Up Tomorrow. Fans across the globe have experienced a show that blends theatrical visuals with The Weeknd's signature sound, bringing together anthems such as Blinding Lights, Save Your Tears and newer tracks from his evolving catalogue. Social media has been flooded with clips and reactions from fans praising the scale of the production and the emotional resonance of the performances. By the time the tour concludes on September 3 in San Antonio, Texas, it is projected to reach close to $700 million in revenue with more than 5.5 million tickets sold. That final figure will cement The Weeknd's place among the highest-grossing tours in music history, a moment that underscores his transformation from underground star to one of the biggest global acts of his generation.

Gunna's The Last Wun has debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, earning 81,000 units in its opening week, Billboard reports. The project marks the Atlanta rapper's seventh career top ten album, further cementing his consistent presence on the charts. Despite being his final release under YSL, the album drew strong global attention with more than 70 million Spotify streams during its debut week. Several tracks quickly resonated with fans. Forever Be Mine, featuring Wizkid, led with 7.24 million streams. Just Say Dat followed at 5.11 million, while WGFT with Burna Boy reached 4.82 million. Offset's collaboration At My Purest pulled in 4.24 million streams, and Sakpase closed the group of early standouts with nearly 4 million plays. In terms of first-week performance, The Last Wun ranks sixth in Gunna's catalog. While it falls short of the record-breaking numbers of DS4EVER, its success is notable as a transitional project. The album closes out Gunna's time with YSL while positioning him for the next phase of his career. Since his release from jail, Gunna has demonstrated a sharper focus and steady output. The Last Wun reflects that evolution, built on discipline, independence, and determination. Its polished production, diverse collaborations, and confident delivery show an artist not only adapting to industry shifts but thriving within them. With this release, Gunna signals both a personal and professional turning point. The project serves as a strong commercial showing and a symbolic close to one chapter of his career, while opening the door for what comes next.
