Guntur SP conducts surprise visit to rowdy-sheeters' houses
GUNTUR: Guntur District Superintendent of Police (SP) Satish Kumar conducted surprise visits to the homes of rowdy-sheeters and repeat offenders in Tenali to curb crime and promote behavioural reform. The inspections, led by Tenali DSP Janardhan Rao, covered areas such as Ganganammapeta, Pandurangapeta, Aita Nagar, Edla Lingayya Colony, and Chenchupeta.
Interacting with families, the SP urged them to discourage criminal activities and guide their kin toward responsible living. He warned repeat offenders will face strict action, including PD Act enforcement and potential banishment from the town.
Kumar emphasised community cooperation, advising families to report issues to the police rather than resorting to unlawful means. He instructed local police to intensify night patrols, monitor criminal activity, and conduct regular counselling sessions. Officers were also directed to act firmly against public drinking and unnecessary night-time loitering.
The operation involved DSP Janardhan Rao, CIs Ramesh, Ramulu and other officials.

Training has begun across the June 15, Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to the newly selected constables in Lucknow in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Deoria, the new recruits are undergoing a Joint Training Course (JTC). Two more held in Telangana as tribal leader alleges 60 women are missing
ADILABAD: The Kumurambheem Asifabad police on Sunday arrested two more suspects in a human trafficking case, amid allegations that nearly 60 women have been sold to agents from Madhya Pradesh. According to Circle Inspector Ravinder, the arrested individuals were identified as Bashar Ramesh Goud (A7), a native of Dabla village in Mandsaur district, and Soni Jagadesh (A9), a native of Javari — both from Madhya Pradesh. The horrific incident came to light on Friday after a woman, who had been trafficked to Madhya Pradesh for Rs 1.3 lakh, re-established contact with her parents in Vadgondi village, Asifabad mandal. The traffickers allegedly manipulated her Aadhaar records, inserting the buyer's name as her husband. When the updated Aadhaar card was mailed to her Vadgondi address, her family grew suspicious and reported the matter to the police. Six persons, including a constable, were arrested earlier in the case. Reacting to the arrests, Adivasi Hakkula Porata Samithi (Thudum Debba) district president Kotnak Vijay Kumar warned of large-scale agitations across the state if the government fails to take stringent action against those involved. 'It is deeply concerning that many tribal women have gone missing in recent months and have only been traced to other states through Aadhaar card updates. This shows the state's lack of responsibility toward Adivasis,' he said. He claimed that nearly 60 tribal women have been trafficked to other states in the past six months. 'The accused must be booked under the PD Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act,' he said. However, the inspector stated that while investigation is ongoing, no specific figures are currently available regarding the number of missing women reportedly trafficked to MP.

‘Serious threat to public health': Telangana HC upholds preventive detention of bootlegger
HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court upheld the state govt's decision to detain a habitual bootlegger under the PD Act, observing that the manufacture and sale of illicitly distilled liquor can have irreversible and dangerous consequences for society. A division bench comprising Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya and Justice BR Madhusudhan Rao made these remarks while dismissing a petition filed by a Warangal woman challenging her husband's preventive detention. The bench said that the man's repeated involvement in bootlegging posed a serious threat to public health and safety, thereby warranting detention under section 2(A) of the PD Act, 1986. "His actions endangered the health of the public and created a sense of fear and insecurity," the court said in its judgment. The court further observed that the sale of spurious liquor goes beyond mere law and order concerns and directly undermines public health and societal stability. In arriving at its decision, the bench cited the Supreme Court's ruling in Pesala Nookaraju versus govt of AP (2023), which upheld preventive detention in similar cases involving habitual bootleggers.
