Can't wake at 4 am, used to sleeping till 8: UP cop's bizarre resignation letter

India Today5 hours ago

Days after receiving his appointment letter from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a newly recruited constable in Uttar Pradesh decided he had enough of police life and wanted to resign. The reason? He couldn't wake up at 4 am for training as he was accustomed to sleeping until 8 am.On the fifth day of his training, the constable, accompanied by his father, marched into the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Deoria to put in his papers. At the office, he requested a meeting with SP Vikrant Veer.advertisementWhen asked about the reason, the constable candidly told the SP's public relations officer (PRO) Dr Mahendra Kumar, that he was not used to waking up early in the morning. The recruit said he had a habit of sleeping till 8 am, and the rigorous training throughout the day was proving to be too difficult for him.'HOLDS B.ED DEGREE, WANTS TO BECOME TEACHER'
His father said his son, who holds a B.Ed degree, wanted to become a teacher and is used to studying all day. He said the physical rigours of police training did not excite him much. However, following a counselling session by Dr Mahendra, the young recruit eventually had a change of heart. The PRO underlined that such teething problems in training sessions were natural and things would gradually become manageable.advertisementAfter a long discussion, the constable decided not to proceed with his resignation and left the office without meeting the SP.The Uttar Pradesh Police constable recruitment process was completed earlier this month. Training has begun across the state. On June 15, Union Home Minister Amit Shah distributed appointment letters to the newly selected constables in Lucknow in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In Deoria, the new recruits are undergoing a Joint Training Course (JTC). After completing one month of training, they will be sent to other centres for a nine-month advanced training session, following which they will be given official postings.- EndsMust Watch

Amit Shah's big take on languages: 'Hindi friend of all'; says 'no opposition to foreign tongues'

NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that Hindi was a "friend to all Indian languages", adding that there should be "no opposition" to any foreign tongues. This comes as several political parties have criticised the Centre over three-language policy, accusing it of Hindi imposition. "I sincerely believe that Hindi can't be opposed ('virodhi') to any Indian language. Hindi is a friend ('sakhi') of all Indian languages," Amit Shah said. Shah was addressing the golden jubilee celebrations of the central government's official language department. 'There is no opposition to any language. There should not be any opposition to any foreign language. But there should be an urge to glorify one's own language, there should be an urge to speak one's own language, there should be an urge to think in one's own language," he added. Shah also remarked that for the nation, language goes beyond being a tool for communication — it embodies the very soul of the country. "It is important to keep Indian languages alive and enrich them. We should make all efforts in the coming days for all Indian languages, especially for the official language," he said. Row over language erupted after Tamil Nadu government opposed the Centre's three-language formula under the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 with CM MK Stalin calling it "Hindi colonialism". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo Recently, a political standoff emerged in Maharashtra over the Mahayuti government's decision to make Hindi the third compulsory language under NEP. Sule says Shaktipeeth will ruin state finances

Mumbai: A few days after the state cabinet approved the Rs 20,787 crore Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth highway, NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule has stepped into the row over the project, saying the cash-starved state govt will not be able to afford the massive expenditure on the proposal. "State govt must give a serious thought to the huge expenditure on the project, particularly in view of the critical financial situation of the state. It will take several decades to restore the situation. It will have a massive impact on the Marathi people," Sule said. Sule referred to a series of reports in a section of the media, saying there is strong opposition to the project from all sections. "When our financial situation is very bad, still we are in the process of securing a loan of Rs 30,000 crore, with an interest of 8.85%, it is beyond the financial capacity of the state to afford such a high interest," Sule said. Sule said it was found that elected representatives of almost all the political parties have opposed the land acquisition process. "We need infrastructure projects, but at the same time, govt should not impose such projects on the people. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Doutor: Reverter encolhimento muscular após os 50 depende deste hábito noturno Revista do Homem Saiba Mais Undo If we accept the Shaktipeeth highway, there will be adverse impact on the financial situation of the state. Even the planning and finance departments have raised concern over the impact of the project on the financial situation of the project," Sule said. Sule asked why the govt is insisting on implementation of the project at a juncture when the local farmers have opposed it. "Farmers are not keen on the highway, if the project is implemented, it will have adverse impact on the financial situation of the state. People must examine the remarks of the finance and planning department," she said. MPCC president Harshawardhan Sapkal alleged that the Shaktipeeth highway is being planned and implemented at the behest of Delhi's elite, to benefit favoured industrialists. Sapkal said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is pushing for the Shaktipeeth highway on orders from Delhi's power brokers. "A corridor is being planned from central India to Goa's port to help favoured industrialists export their raw materials abroad. This is a red-carpet project exclusively for them," Sapkal said. Sapkal said that while an allocation of Rs 20,000 crore has been made, the expenditure could go up to Rs 1.5 lakh crore and is a ploy for corrupt profiteering. "This is the beginning of pushing Maharashtra towards bankruptcy, since the debt burden has cross the mark of Rs 9.82 lakh crore," he said.

Ensure Governor functions with Constitutional limits, Venugopal writes to President

AICC general secretary (Organisation) and MP K.C. Venugopal on Thursday wrote to the President of India raising the 'serious Constitutional and administrative challenges' unfolding in Kerala, arising from the continued confrontational stance adopted by Raj Bhavan. Saying that the ongoing impasse is adversely affecting the Constitutional balance and undermining the orderly functioning of the State's democratic institutions, he requested the President to consider appropriate counsel and intervention so that the Governor discharges the responsibilities of the office strictly within the bounds of Constitutional mandate and refrains from actions that may aggravate tensions or disrupt public order. He wrote that the role of the Governor, as defined in the Constitution is that of a Constitutional head of the State, expected to function in accordance with the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers, but recent developments in Kerala reflect a departure from these Constitutional tenets. 'The insistence by the Governor's office on displaying the image of 'Bharat Mata' holding a saffron flag at official functions, an emblem that holds no Constitutional or statutory recognition, has created avoidable friction. This symbolic assertion, widely perceived as ideological in nature, has led to considerable unrest and public disquiet. The preference for an unofficial image over the National Flag at public functions risks sending a dangerous and divisive message, and has justifiably drawn criticism from various quarters,' wrote Mr. Venugopal. He noted that the resultant situation had severely strained the institutional relationship between Raj Bhavan and the State administration. Public protests, tensions on the ground, and disruptions to law and order have ensued. 'The office of the Governor is one of great Constitutional significance. It is expected to function as a neutral bridge between the Union and the State, upholding the spirit of cooperative federalism and Constitutional propriety. Any deviation from this role disturbs the institutional fabric and impairs the people's faith in constitutional governance. It is imperative that the high office remains above ideological assertions and continues to embody the spirit of unity, impartiality, and Constitutional morality,' wrote Mr. Venugopal.
