The
Montreal Canadiens
are returning from a solid season. They qualified for the playoffs with one of the youngest teams in the NHL and now look to move another step forward. One area that they look to improve on is depth at center beyond captain Nick Suzuki. TVA insider Vincent Duquette reports that the Canadiens may trade for veteran center
Bo Horvat
of the New York Islanders.

"Horvat would be the ideal center to lead the second line," Duquette said. "He's capable of scoring 30 goals per season and is responsible in all three zones. We need to determine to what extent we want to add experience versus gain experience."
Canadiens eye Bo Horvat to boost offense behind Nick Suzuki
Bo Horvat tallied 28 goals and 29 assists this year with the Islanders. He still has six years remaining on an eight-year, $68 million contract. The Canadiens view his long-term commitment as a good thing and also a gamble. On the plus side, he can be an anchor for the team for a long time to come. The negative is he just turned 30, and Montreal's rebuilding effort has concentrated on youth.
Nevertheless, the Canadiens possess the resources to make a trade. General manager Kent Hughes has stated that he is looking to enhance the team's offense and leadership this offseason.

"There's no doubt we want to add more talent to our team," Hughes said. "We need to determine to what extent we want to add experience versus gain experience."
Bo Horvat's experience and playoff pedigree may be just what the team requires to advance the younger stars such as Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Lane Hutson to the next level.
Trading for Bo Horvat could be the next big move
Jeff Gorton, the Canadiens' Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations, said the team is not finished building. 'There's not one area where we're saying, 'we're done there,'' Gorton said. 'We'll continue to look at everything to improve.'
Jeff Gorton also spoke to the need for players who can handle playoff play. That's precisely the type of value Horvat might provide a team looking to do better than just make the playoffs.
When the offseason gets underway, the Canadiens will consider all options trades, free agents, and perhaps even blockbuster moves such as acquiring Bo Horvat to continue to move forward.

Wayne Gretzky is all praise for Connor McDavid, calling him the NHL's best player

Gretzky hails McDavid as NHL's best after Game 1 heroics in Stanley Cup Final (Image via: Getty Images) Connor McDavid's Game 1 heroics in the Stanley Cup Final didn't just electrify fans, it drew powerful praise from hockey royalty. Wayne Gretzky, the ultimate NHL icon, publicly applauded McDavid's performance and leadership, sparking renewed debate over whether the Oilers captain is already carving out a legacy fit to follow the 'Great One' himself. Gretzky's praise sparks a hockey conversation bigger than Game 1 In the aftermath of Edmonton's dramatic 4-3 overtime win against the Florida Panthers in Game 1, the NHL world wasn't just buzzing about the scoreline. It was Wayne Gretzky's glowing comments on The Pat McAfee Show that truly lit up the conversation. The four-time Stanley Cup winner didn't hesitate to crown Connor McDavid as the best player in hockey today—a title that carries immense weight coming from the greatest to ever lace up skates. 'There's no question he's the best player in hockey,' Gretzky said with conviction. 'He's an unselfish young man. He loves playing in Edmonton, he loves being the captain of the Oilers. He wants desperately to win a Stanley Cup—that's all he wants.' This wasn't just casual admiration. It was a ringing endorsement from a man whose own career helped define an era of dominance in Edmonton. Gretzky's praise felt personal—an acknowledgment of both McDavid's skill and his character. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tan Thoi Nhat: Beautiful New Senior Apartments with Two Bedrooms Senior Apartments | Search Ads Search Now Undo And with McDavid delivering two crucial assists in Game 1, including the setup for Leon Draisaitl's game-winning goal, the statement felt timely. But the conversation goes deeper than one night. McDavid has often been described as a generational talent, and his numbers back it up. Still, championships have eluded him until now, perhaps. With Edmonton chasing its first Cup since 1990, the pressure is intense, and Gretzky's words could either empower or overwhelm. The comparison is inevitable. Gretzky led the Oilers dynasty of the 1980s. McDavid is now tasked with reviving that legacy in a vastly different, faster, more competitive NHL. Is this the torch being officially passed or is it still too early to declare McDavid as heir to Gretzky's throne? 'I'm still heavily committed to Delhi Capitals': Mitchell Starc reacts after leaving IPL 2025 midway

Mitchell Starc (image credit: BCCI/IPL) NEW DELHI: Mitchell Starc remains 'heavily committed' to Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, but admitted that 'time will tell the repercussions' of his decision not to return for the remainder of the tournament, unlike some of his Australian teammates. The pacer opted out of the IPL's resumption on May 17, following a 10-day break triggered by Operation Sindoor — a military response to Pakistan-backed terrorists killing 26 civilians in Pahalgam. Starc, who played a key role in Delhi Capitals' bowling attack with 14 wickets in 11 games, last featured in the May 8 clash against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala. That match was abandoned after the stadium lights went out abruptly. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! His wife and Australia Women's team captain Alyssa Healy was also present at the stadium when the match was halted and an urgent evacuation was ordered due to Dharamsala's proximity to the international border. Starc revealed he had apprehensions before taking the field in that game between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings amid growing tensions. 'I'm comfortable with my decision and how I felt about the whole situation and how it was handled,' Starc was quoted as saying by The Age. 'That's why I made my decision post-that, and my focus changed to red-ball cricket for about a week prior to coming over here (the UK).' 'Time will tell with repercussions or how it looks with guys that didn't return. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo But I've had my questions and concerns leading into that game, and obviously we saw what happened, which played a part in my decision,' he said. Citing similar concerns, Starc had earlier chosen not to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy with the Australian squad. 'There was a little bit of that to my decision around the Champions Trophy (in Pakistan) and then once the tournament (IPL) was delayed, you start to think about guys' preparation for the Test match,' he said, referring to Australia's upcoming World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord's starting June 11. 'Daring, Dynamic, Different': Ponting hails PBKS young guns despite final loss Starc also pointed out that the situation in Dharamsala was handled differently across teams and individuals. Both teams and the broadcast crew were evacuated to Delhi from Pathankot via a special train. 'Things were handled differently for different players and different teams, the guys up in Dharamsala, the Punjab guys were part of that, and while both teams had similar experiences up there, all those guys returned for Punjab, and Jake (Fraser-McGurk) and I chose not to,' he said. 'It was a very individual decision, and I'm happy to live with whatever comes of that.' 'I'm still heavily committed to the Delhi group, and I'm not someone that's gone into tournaments and pulled out after being picked up in an auction or whatever that looks like. These are different circumstances,' he added. Starc, who was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders' title-winning campaign last season, also explained that a lack of clarity contributed to his decision to skip the second half of the season. 'It was more a question of not having enough information leading into making a decision (about) things of that degree. I had a discussion back home then came to a decision, and whatever comes from that I'm comfortable with that and we move forward,' he said.

India, Pak Conflict Had "Negligible Impact" On Economic Activity: RBI Governor

Mumbai: Reserve Bank Governor Sanjay Malhotra on Friday said the India-Pakistan conflict, following the Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians were killed, had a negligible impact on economic activity. After the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, in which 26 people were killed, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor and hit terror infrastructure in Pakistan. Indian armed forces on May 7 carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke. In retaliation, Pakistan, too, launched its offensive and bordering districts were affected. "The conflict... had a very, very limited, negligible impact on economic activity. It did have some impact for those days, especially in northern India, airports being closed, air passenger traffic did certainly decrease, but there was no major supply chain disruption, etc," he said. So, he said, it does not have any impact on economic activity, growth, inflation. For few days, he said, "Prices in those regions, those sectors, had gone up, but it has all normalised. It does not have any major impact on the economy." On the recent rise in Covid-19 cases, he said it is not a matter of concern as of now. "I think it has become one of the viruses, and hopefully it should stay like that," he added.
