On Monday, August 11, former NBA player Sebastian Telfair spoke publicly about his upcoming prison sentence. The news comes after Telfair was ordered to serve six months behind bars for violating the terms of his supervised release.

The sentence was handed down this summer after a previous agreement of time served plus supervised release. Telfair is set to report to prison on Tuesday, August 13.
Sebastian Telfair asks former President Donald Trump to intervene as frustration mounts
In a candid interview with TMZ Sports on August 11, Sebastian Telfair expressed strong feelings about his prison sentence. You'll hold me accountable and want me to continue to go do good.
But I did too good to being sending anybody to jail.'
Sebastian Telfair's case is tied to a broader healthcare fraud scheme involving several former NBA players, including Glen 'Big Baby' Davis. The scam swindled large sums from the NBA Association's healthcare plan. Telfair was initially sentenced to time served and three years of supervised release, but after allegedly failing to meet release conditions, he was resentenced this summer.
Telfair told TMZ that the violation came down to a paperwork issue, which he feels is unfair. 'It's super unfair,' he said.
Despite his anger and disappointment, Sebastian Telfair assured family, friends, and fans that if a pardon is not granted, he will use his prison time to better himself. He plans to work on a book during his time inside. 'I'm definitely mad I put myself in this situation, but we definitely have got some wins coming,' he said. 'So my fans, just hold tight.'

Trump admin under fire: Over 300 protests sweep 44 states; Texas Democrats outraged over Republicans' push to redraw maps
Representative Image (AI-generated) Pro-democracy activists and labor organizations held hundreds of rallies across the United States on Saturday to oppose the Trump administration's support for Texas to redraw its congressional map in favor of Republicans. Former Congressman Beto O'Rourke spoke at one such event in Texas, where dozens of Democratic lawmakers had left the state to block Republicans from having the quorum needed to vote on the redistricting plan pushed by President Donald Trump . "They do this because they are afraid," O'Rourke told an audience on Saturday, speaking of those attempting redistricting. "They fear this power they see here today." According to Drucilla Tigner, executive director of the pro-democracy coalition Texas For All, over 300 events took place in 44 states and Washington DC. This resulted in drawing tens of thousands of participants, as reported by news agency Reuters. More than 50 Texas Democrats have been staying in Illinois, which also saw protests on Saturday. Staying outside Texas shields them from civil arrest warrants that could be enforced in their home state. By leaving, the Democrats prevented the redistricting plan from advancing during a special legislative session called by Governor Greg Abbott, which ended Friday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Abbott quickly called a second special session, saying that important issues such as redistricting, flood safety legislation following deadly July floods and other unfinished business could not move forward without them. Meanwhile, California's Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom introduced a new redistricting plan on Thursday that he said would give Democrats five additional congressional seats, potentially balancing out Republican gains in Texas. In a statement, the Texas House Democrats said they would return only if the special session in their state is ended and once California's new maps are officially introduced.
