Undoubtedly the biggest topic covered on the show was The Life of a Showgirl, Swift's 12th studio album arriving Oct. 3. After revealing the LP's existence and title via a New Heights teaser clip the day prior to the episode's premiere, the 14-time Grammy winner divulged more details about the Max Martin- and Shellback-produced full-length — which features a Sabrina Carpenter duet — while speaking with the Kelce brothers.
'This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during [the Eras Tour],' she shared. '[The album is] a lot more upbeat, and it's a lot more fun pop excitement. My main goals were melodies that were so infectious, you're almost angry at it.'
'We've made songs that I'm so proud of,' she added of herself and her production team. 'We've never actually made an album before where it was just the three of us, there's no other collaborators. It felt like catching lightning in a bottle.'
But while Swift's revelations about The Life of a Showgirl were certainly the splashiest, fans were also treated to nearly two hours of the musician opening up about her personal life, falling in love with Travis, reclaiming her masters, pulling of the historic Eras Tour and so much more. Keep reading to see the biggest non-album takeaways from Swift's New Heights debut below.
1. Taylor's Reaction to Travis' 'Man Tantrum'
For years now, fans have known the tale of how Travis wooed Taylor — professing his crush on her on New Heights after failing to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it at a Kansas City Eras Tour show — but on the podcast, Swift finally shared her side of the story.
'You realize he didn't even reach out to our management,' Swift said, laughing at Travis' prior claim that he was 'butthurt' about not getting to meet her that night after the show, which she lovingly referred to as a 'man tantrum.' 'When this podcast came out, I was like, 'Did he ever reach out to be, like, in the tents, or did we know he was in the building?' He came with [Patrick Mahomes], and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room.'
That said, Swift thought his confession on the podcast was super romantic. 'It felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with a boombox saying, 'I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?''
She added: 'I was like, 'If this guy's not crazy, this is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.''
2. First Date With Travis
One of the cutest revelations came when Swift opened up about one of the first conversations she had with Travis. 'On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and he looked across the field across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing … five feet in front of him on the field.'
'Like, I now know what an insane question that was,' she continued, gushing that Travis was so 'non-judgmental' about her not knowing the basic rules of football. 'He was like, 'Actually, I'm on the offense, and my brother's on the offense, and I'm only on the field at the same time as the defense.' I thought everyone was on the field at the same time.'
Later on, Travis also shared his own first impressions of the pop star. 'To see you on the stage, and to see how crazy you can get an entire stadium going, then I get you in a room and it's like I've known you forever,' he said, making Swift swoon. 'It was the easiest conversation I've ever had … it knocked my socks off. She blew me away, and I'd never experienced something so mesmerizing on stage and then so real and so beautiful in person.'
3. Taylor's a Total Football Fan Now
Though she may not have known much about football before, Swift says she totally 'fell in love' with the game soon after she started dating Travis.
'I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy!'' the musician said. 'My friends are like, 'Who body-snatched you? What do you mean?''
'Tay's not f–king around,' Travis said of his superstar girlfriend's newfound interest, adding that he loved how curious she was about the sport when they first started their relationship.
4. Reclaiming Her Masters
One of the most emotional parts of the podcast was when Swift recalled how she found out she'd reclaimed ownership of her master recordings, a deal that she revealed was brokered with previous owner Shamrock Holdings by her mom, Andrea, and brother, Austin. When Andrea called with the good news, Taylor said she 'literally hit the floor' and was 'bawling my eyes out, just weeping.'
After tearfully sharing the news with Travis, who said she collapsed like 'dead weight' in his arms, Taylor shared that one of the first people she called was Phoebe Bridgers. 'Yeah, this changed my life,' she added on New Heights. 'I can't believe it, still.'
5. Life Post-Eras Tour
While Swift says she misses seeing her fans on the Eras Tour, she's relieved not to be touring anymore after pushing her body to the limit for two years straight on the road. 'It feels great,' she said on the podcast of now having time off, noting that she was in a 'perpetual state of physical discomfort' during the run.
'I learned so much about how far I can push myself,' she continued, adding that she learned to perform through the discomfort of having the stomach flu, blisters and aching feet 'usually all at the same time.'
Swift says she's also been able to lean back into her hobbies, from sewing to baking — currently, she's deep into an 'obsession' with finding the perfect sourdough recipe.
6. Taking Care of Dad Scott
Also on New Heights, Swift shared an update on her dad, Scott, following his quintuple bypass to treat five blockages in his heart earlier this year. When the news first came out about his procedure in July, a rep for the singer told Billboard that the stockbroker was doing 'fantastic.'
'He came out of surgery, tried to give guitar picks to all the nurses and doctors, but he wasn't wearing pants, didn't have pockets, hospital gown, you know?' Taylor said, revealing that she and her brother and mom took turns staying with Scott in the hospital. 'It was kind of wild, because it was like, very parent-child reversal in a lot of ways. I'm like, this dude built play sets and swing sets and cribs for me. I'm building his shower chair and his walker.'
7. Dealing With Tayvis Mania
During the episode, both the pop star and Travis addressed how they've dealt with the whirlwind of public interest in their relationship — including any hate they might receive. 'I've been in the music industry for 20 years — it's kind of hard to hurt my feelings at this point,' Swift said, shrugging.
'She's a pro,' Travis agreed, noting that he learned from his girlfriend how to deal with fame. 'There's still some wacko theories from the beginning that I was like, 'Oh no, how is she handling this?' Her being so calm, cool and collected … really made me grow up real fast.'
Swift said that she's also learned from her partner how to navigate hate. 'The fact that you genuinely find a lot of online discourse to be truly hilarious, that's changed things for me,' she said to Travis. 'That's completely bled into the way that I metabolize these things. … Think of your energy as if it's expensive, like it's a luxury item. Not everyone can afford it.'

Taylor Swift Announces Big Album News With Travis Kelce
Taylor Swift Announces Big Album News With Travis Kelce originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Pop star Taylor Swift has officially confirmed her 12th studio album and she did it while sitting next to boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, on his hit podcast 'New Heights.' In a preview clip released ahead of the Wednesday episode, Swift appeared alongside Travis Kelce and his brother, co-host Jason Kelce. With a small smile, she placed a briefcase marked with gold 'T.S.' initials on the table. Then came the big reveal. 'So I want to show you something,' Swift said as she opened it. 'This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.' The reveal followed heavy speculation from Swifties. On Monday morning, her official social media team, Taylor Nation, posted 12 photos from the Eras Tour, all featuring the singer in bright orange outfits. Comment sections quickly filled with theories about a new album and hints that Swift would appear on "New Heights." Adding to the buzz, a silhouette of a woman against an orange background appeared in "New Heights'" promotional image for this week's episode, alongside Travis Kelce wearing Eras Tour merchandise. The excitement escalated when Swift's official website added a countdown ending at exactly 12:12 a.m. ET on Aug. 12. Beginning in May 2024, she introduced multiple orange costumes, including an orange "Lover" bodysuit and blazer, along with an orange dress for her acoustic section. Fans began to believe orange would be the theme color for 'TS12.' Swift's last album, "The Tortured Poets Department," released in April 2024, spent 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It was her most successful album debut and earned another Album of the Year Grammy nomination. In a previous teaser, the couple didn't just talk music, they also gave fans a rare look at their playful dynamic. At one point, Swift complimented Travis Kelce's blue hoodie, saying, 'Such a nice color on you.' 'It's the color of your eyes, sweetie,' the tight end replied. 'That's why we match so well.' The clip showed a relaxed Swift smiling and laughing through the banter, something fans immediately shared across social media. The full "New Heights" episode featuring Swift will premiere Wednesday and is expected to include more details about "The Life of a Showgirl." Whether or not she reveals the release date during the podcast, Swift has once again managed to turn a simple teaser into a worldwide story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 12, 2025, where it first appeared. Taylor Swift's Team Draws Attention for New Post Amid 'New Heights' Speculation
Taylor Swift's Team Draws Attention for New Post Amid 'New Heights' Speculation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Pop star Taylor Swift's official management and her social media team, Taylor Nation, has set the internet buzzing after posting a cryptic message many believe hints at her long-awaited 12th studio album. Fans' stronger speculations came after the 'New Heights' podcast hosted by her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason Kelce, teased about her possible appearance. On Monday morning, Taylor Nation shared a 12-photo Instagram carousel of Swift dressed in orange outfits from her record-breaking Eras Tour. 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era,'' the caption read, a direct nod to Swift's famous 'era' concept tied to each of her albums. Within minutes of Taylor Nation's post, the comment section turned into a frenzy of fan predictions. 'TWELVE PHOTOS ALL IN ORANGE OH IT'S HAPPENING IT'S HAPPENING EVERYONE REMAIN CALM,' one wrote. 'SWIFTIES she will be on the YouTube broadcast of NEW HEIGHTS with Jason and Travis Kelce interviewing her. August 13th Wednesday. 7PM EST True that!!!!' another shared. 'She gave so many sign, so many signs,' an excited fan said. 'Yep I am convinced TS12 on the way and it's,' a follower chimed in. 'New Heights Show account has a countdown posted!' one noticed. 'Between this and New Heights post, we MUST be getting TS12!!!' said a commenter. One fan even asked directly: 'Is the 12th album dropping on the 12th as in TOMORROW?' Fans immediately linked the post to the 'New Heights' tease of a 'VERY special guest' premiering Wednesday, Aug. 13, a date significant to Swift because of her well-known connection to the number 13. Adding fuel to the fire, the podcast's promotional image showed a woman's silhouette against an orange background, matching the color in Taylor Nation's post, with Travis Kelce wearing Swift's Eras Tour merchandise. Republic Records, Swift's label, liked both Taylor Nation's post and New Heights' teaser, further intensifying speculation. Taylor Swift's Next Album and Possible Podcast Appearance The details aren't lost on Swift's loyal fanbase. Orange has never been tied to any of Swift's previous albums, making many believe it will be the signature color for her 'next era.' Swift has never appeared on the "New Heights" podcast since she began dating Travis Kelce in 2023, though the pop star has been a frequent topic of conversation on the show. Travis Kelce has previously revealed that Swift listens to the podcast weekly and has even given the producers creative feedback. What We Know About Taylor Swift's New Music Swift has not officially confirmed a new album, but industry clues have surfaced over the past year. The singer's most recent album, 'The Tortured Poets Department,' was released in April 2024 and dominated the Billboard 200 for 17 weeks. Since wrapping the $2 billion-grossing Eras Tour in December, Swift has maintained a low profile, making only one Instagram post in 2025 to announce that she had regained ownership of the masters to her first six albums. If the speculation proves correct, Swift's "New Heights" appearance could mark the official reveal of TS12, possibly even accompanied by a surprise drop. Whether fans are about to see a major music announcement or just a rare podcast appearance from the global superstar, anticipation is at a fever story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 12, 2025, where it first appeared. Fans think Taylor Swift's new song 'Ruin the Friendship' is about Blake Lively
Swift and Lively's relationship has been under scrutiny since the "It Ends With Us" actress' legal battle with costar and director Justin Baldoni. Another Taylor Swift era, another round of pre-release speculation about who her new songs could be about. When the pop icon announced the tracklist to her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on the New Heights podcast Wednesday, Swifties immediately did what they do best and started parsing through each song title for possible meaning. One in particular caught their eye: "Ruin the Friendship." Fans immediately hit social media with their theories that the song, which is the sixth track on the album, could be about longtime Swift pal Blake Lively and the status of their friendship. To recap, Lively's ongoing and very public legal battle with her It Ends With Us costar and director Justin Baldoni began in December 2024. The pair took legal action against each other, with Lively accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and launching a smear campaign, and Baldoni launching a countersuit, alleging defamation and extortion. Since then, Swift and Lively's relationship has been under scrutiny. The Grammy winner got pulled into the mix when a complaint filed by Baldoni's legal team (which was later dismissed) alleged that she had pressured him to accept Lively's script changes on the movie, which Lively's team called "categorically false." Baldoni's countersuit included text messages between Lively and Baldoni, in which the actress seemingly alludes to Swift as "one of her dragons" while likening herself to Game of Thrones' Khaleesi (Emilia Clarke). Then, in May 2025, matters reached a fever pitch when Baldoni's team attempted to subpoena Swift, which prompted a rep for the pop star to slam the maneuver as a scheme to generate "tabloid clickbait." "Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history," a spokesperson for Swift told Entertainment Weekly at the time. For their part, Swift and Lively have not publicly commented on how, or if, any of this has affected their friendship, though they haven't been seen in public together in quite some time. And while Swift never reveals who her songs are about, she has been open about how she uses real-life inspirations in her music (after all, Lively and Ryan Reynolds' children have had cameos in or served as character name inspiration in tracks such as "Gorgeous" and "Betty"). A rep for Swift didn't immediately respond to EW's request for comment Thursday, but, the singer herself did provide some possible context on the New Heights podcast Wednesday. In the conversation, which was between Swift, her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason, the singer revealed that she (somehow?) found time while she was on her Eras Tour in Europe to record Showgirl. "I just love it a lot. I love music," Swift shared. "I would be playing shows. I'd do, like, three shows in a row. I'd have three days off. I'd fly to Sweden, go back to the tour — and actually, like, working on this – I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating." The European leg of Swift's tour took place between May and August of 2024, so if the album was written and recorded in its entirety during that time, it likely couldn't be about Lively, given that the It Ends With Us drama began in earnest in December of that year. But, until Swift or Lively provide more insight, fans are just going to have to wait til The Life of a Showgirl releases on Oct. 3 to find out just who or what the song could be about.
