The iPhone 16 Pro is a solid flagship smartphone — there's no second thought about it. However, it comes at a steep price — a price that's arguably a bit too high for any smartphone. That said, what if we told you that the iPhone 16 Pro is currently selling at a good discount? Additionally, if you exchange an old device, you can get an even better deal, bringing the effective price of the iPhone 16 Pro down to under Rs 80,000. Sounds unbelievable? It's actually true.advertisementIf you've been eyeing the iPhone 16 Pro, now might just be the best time to buy it. With a flat discount of Rs 7,000 on Amazon, along with an exchange offer of up to Rs 77,850, you can grab the iPhone 16 Pro for as low as Rs 77,700. Here's how the deal works.iPhone 16 Pro for Rs 77,700: All you need to knowThe iPhone 16 Pro was launched at a starting price of Rs 1,19,900 for the 128GB storage variant. Depending on the condition of your device, you can score a significant price cut on the iPhone 16 Pro.advertisementFor instance, if you trade in an iPhone 13 Pro in good condition, you can get an exchange value of Rs 35,200, effectively reducing the final price of the iPhone 16 Pro to just Rs 77,700. If budget isn't a constraint, and you want Apple's latest and greatest, the iPhone 16 Pro is as good as it gets. Some of the key highlights of the iPhone 16 Pro include a stunning OLED display with 120Hz ProMotion support and ultraslim bezels. The screen size has also been bumped up to 6.3 inches, compared to the 6.1-inch panel on the iPhone 15 Pro. It's powered by the capable A18 Pro chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and support for Apple Intelligence. Whether you're scrolling endlessly on Instagram or playing AAA titles like Resident Evil, the iPhone 16 Pro handles it all effortlessly. Apple claims the new 6-core GPU is 20 per cent faster than the A17 Pro and includes improved machine learning, faster USB 3 speeds, and support for ProRes video recording. Battery life has also seen a slight bump, easily lasting a full day with moderate usage.advertisementApple has made notable improvements in the camera department as well. While the regular iPhone 16 offers decent cameras, the Pro model takes things up a notch with its triple-camera setup. The main 48-megapixel sensor now uses second-gen quad-pixel tech, which reduces shutter lag for high-resolution ProRAW and HEIF images. The 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera now has autofocus, while the 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens offers 5x optical zoom at a 120mm focal length — something missing from last year's iPhone 15 Pro. For video lovers, the iPhone 16 Pro supports 4K recording at 120fps, delivering sharp visuals, natural colours, and crisp audio.Overall, the iPhone 16 Pro brings meaningful improvements in performance, display, and cameras. If you've been waiting for the right moment to upgrade — and can take advantage of the exchange offer — now is a great time to go for it.

The government is also aiming to make available the 30 projects selected under the application development initiative within a month as 'try models', said an RAI solutions to be made available are in areas such as machine unlearning, bias mitigation, risk assessment and fairness assessment, IndiaAI Mission chief operating officer Kavita Bhatia told ET on the sidelines of a consultation on AI readiness assessment methodologies in Delhi on detection tools are still in the works, according to her. More than 400 applications have been received for areas like deepfake detection tools and watermarking of AI-generated content. The eight selected participants include IIT Jodhpur , IIT Roorkee and IIT Delhi. More than 900 submissions were received for the application development initiative, according to the electronics and information technology ministry's statements.'We need to assess what is the readiness with regard to making AI applications that are inclusive, that are responsible, that are safe, that are trustworthy and which follow the ethical framework,' said Abhishek Singh, CEO, IndiaAI Mission, speaking at the support for AI models, computing and language application programming interfaces are there, the solutions need to be fair and meet real needs on the ground, he said, reiterating that India's approach to AI regulation is pro-innovation and light-touch with a focus on preventing government is collaborating with UNESCO and Ikigai Law to produce a report on an AI readiness methodology for India. IndiaAI empanelment drives down prices of GPUs in second round

ETtech Live Events An analysis of the lowest (L1) prices released by the IndiaAI Mission for the second round of the tender for graphics processing units (GPU) shows an up to 10% fall in prices compared with the first first-round bidders will be asked to match these prices, resulting in substantial savings for the users. The GPUs are sourced under a government scheme to provide subsidised compute power to local artificial intelligence decline in the price of the same GPU model from the first round to the second round ranged from just Rs 4 an hour to as high as Rs 1,234 per some companies told ET that the reduced L1 rates will help kickstart artificial intelligence pilot projects in various domains, which previously may have been cost-prohibitive, others warned of a price bloodbath for GPU capacity prices are possibly the lowest in the world for GPU services, helped by the 40% government startups, developers, researchers and corporations exploring and implementing AI would be able to afford GPU capacity by leasing from the identified providers.'All existing empanelled players will be asked to match new L1 prices,' IndiaAI Mission chief executive Abhishek Singh told ET. 'From what we hear from companies, they will mostly match, to retain their priority of allocation of AI workloads.'As many as 53 categories of GPUs have been offered in the second round of the tender, out of which some are new (like Nvidia's B200 GPUs). In 16 categories, prices have reduced compared with the first said assigning AI workloads is an ongoing process and companies have six months to provision the per the IndiaAI website, 4,423 GPUs with a total subsidy of Rs 111.86 crore have been allocated so far. Compute has been allocated to 21 applicants from academia, government entities, early-stage startups, MSMEs and the student startup Sarvam AI , the first startup selected to build an indigenous foundational model under the IndiaAI Mission, has already been allocated 4,000 GPUs, Singh said. Others like Soket, Gnani and Gan are expected to give their estimate on the compute they need.'Allocation is dynamic. Companies have invested heavily in bidding for GPUs. Commitments require significant money and those in the business have done so after their assessments,' he has received the highest subsidy allocated under the programme at Rs 98.68 crore, out of a bill of Rs 246.71 crore for 4,096 Nvidia H100 GPUs, as per the IndiaAI minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday announced the addition of 15,916 GPUs to the existing cluster of 18,417 GPUs under the programme, taking the total to 34,333 include GPUs of Nvidia, AMD, AWS and Intel. The offering comprises 15,100 H100 Nvidia GPUs , 8,192 Nvidia B200 GPUs, 4,812 Nvidia H200 GPUs, and 1,973 Nvidia L40S GPUs.'The combination of reduced L1 rates and government support will help kickstart pilot projects in various domains, enabling more organisations to experiment with and scale AI use cases that previously may have been cost-prohibitive,' said Rishikesh Kamat, senior director, Cloud services division, at NTT Data India , one of the seven empanelled bidders in round Bairathi, chief executive of Cyfuture India, another empanelled bidder in round two, warned of lower prices creating problems for the nascent industry.'It's advantageous for users but is concerning for service providers, as a price bloodbath is on," he said. Moreover, it would be even more fatal for companies if workloads as envisaged by the IndiaAI Mission don't come through, he average L1 hourly GPU price was Rs 612.85 in the first round of empanelment against an average Rs 655.90 in the second round of empanelment. While there has been a decline in price for the same GPUs between the two rounds, the average is higher in the second round because of newer categories of GPUs.
