Prince Philip's brutal four word remark to Queen after Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding
Prince Philip didn't hide his feelings following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's nuptials, as revealed in a forthcoming book. The Sussexes tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Windsor Castle in May 2018, with the entire Royal Family in attendance.
In pride of place were the late Queen and her consort. Their wedding at St George's Chapel featured all the traditional elements of a royal union, plus unique touches like a gospel choir's rendition of Stand By Me and a lengthy sermon by Bishop Michael Curry.
After the service, the couple embarked on a carriage procession through Windsor, while other royals exited the chapel to proceed to the castle for an official reception.
Grant Harrold, a former royal butler, recounts that as they were leaving the church, Harry's grandfather Philip remarked to the Queen, "Thank f*** that's over".
This anecdote is part of Harrold's new book set to be released this month. Harrold served King Charles at his Highgrove residence from 2004 to 2011, reports the Mirror.
On the wedding day, Harrold had been offering commentary for a broadcaster before joining his partner, Jack Stooks, who had received an invitation to observe the royal departure from the chapel and had brought his other half along as his plus one.
The Telegraph cites Harrold's upcoming memoir, titled The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service, where he notes: "Once all the formalities were over, we watched as the happy couple, and then the other members of the Royal Family, filed out of the chapel.
"When Prince Philip came out, he turned to the Queen and said, 'Thank f*** that's over'."
In the lead-up to Harry and Meghan's nuptials, the then Duke of Edinburgh underwent a hip replacement operation. It was reported at the time that he was resolute in his determination not to miss their special day and aimed to be mobile by then.
During his tenure at Highgrove, Harrold had the opportunity to get acquainted with Princes William and Harry, who were then in their late teens and early 20s.
In a recent interview, the ex-butler disclosed that he first met Harry when he was 19, their initial interaction being when Harry struck him with a water balloon during a playful skirmish. He recounts that they even shared a takeaway meal before the Duke of Sussex left for Sandhurst Military Academy.
Harrold's stint at Highgrove coincided with the period when Charles and Camilla announced their engagement and subsequently tied the knot.
In his explosive memoir Spare, Harry revealed how he and his now estranged brother William pleaded with their father not to wed his current wife.
He wrote: "We support you, we said. We endorse Camilla, we said. 'Just please don't marry her. Just be together, Pa.' He didn't answer. But she answered. Straight away."
However, Harrold's observations paint a different picture from what Harry described in his book. Speaking to The Telegraph, he stated: "The four of them, I promise you, got on so well.
"Because I saw them. I saw them having dinners together, I saw them having drinks together, I saw them going to parties together."
He also remembers observing "no animosity" among the royals, noting: "The King used to do things to make them [William and Harry] laugh and giggle."

BBC 'forced' to scrap Ozzy Osbourne documentary after 'family complaints'
Ozzy Osbourne had been documenting his long-awaited return to the UK, but the BBC film capturing it has suddenly vanished from TV schedules. A special documentary charting the 'moving and inspirational' final chapter of Ozzy Osbourne's life has been mysteriously pulled from the BBC schedule. Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home was due to air on BBC One and iPlayer tonight at 9pm, promising "unique and intimate access to the whole Osbourne family," including wife Sharon and children Kelly and Jack, reports the Mirror. But the one-off, hour-long film, announced earlier this month, has vanished from TV listings and replaced with Fake or Fortune. The delay comes after Sharon Osbourne broke down in tears at Ozzy's funeral following his death at 76. Black Sabbath legend Ozzy died on July 22 from a reported heart attack, just weeks after reuniting with the band for the Back To The Beginning farewell concert in Birmingham. He had been documenting his long-awaited return to the UK, a dream he'd chased for years. The BBC film was set to capture this homecoming, but fans were left disappointed when it was suddenly removed from listings at the last minute. A spokesperson for the BBC told the Mirror today that the "film has moved in the schedules" and new premiere details will be shared "in due course". The broadcaster has offered no explanation for the sudden change, but insiders suggest the family's reaction to the final cut was a key factor. A source told The Sun: "There have been conversations behind the scenes that maybe the BBC were rushing their show on Ozzy out - especially because Paramount+ also had a film in the offing.' Originally, the series was to be a ten-part documentary called Home To Roost, following Ozzy and Sharon's return to the UK. After Ozzy's passing, it was reworked into a single film. "What mattered the most to the family was the overall tone and theme of the programme, which features Ozzy and Sharon in one of their last interviews together," the insider said. "It started to feel like the goal being pursued was that the BBC and the makers of the film were to get the show on air faster than the Paramount+ doc. Naturally that has caused some concerns with the family," they added. Filmed over three years, the BBC says the documentary captures the "extraordinary rollercoaster of their lives" as Ozzy and Sharon attempt to fulfil their dream of returning to the UK. It also shows Ozzy "heroically battling to get fit enough to perform" while the family navigates the "dramatic consequences of his ill health," with Kelly Osbourne quoted as saying: "Iron Man wasn't really made of iron." Ozzy had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019. Clare Sillery, head of commissioning, BBC Documentaries, said on August 7: "We are honoured to have had the opportunity to film with Ozzy and his family. The film captures an intimate glimpse into their journey as they prepare to return to the UK. "It features family moments, humour, reflection and shows the enduring spirit that made Ozzy a global icon. We hope it brings comfort and joy to Ozzy's fans and viewers as they remember and celebrate his extraordinary life." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Ben Wicks and Colin Barr, executive producers at production company Expectation, added: "It was an incredible privilege to spend the last few years with Ozzy , as well as Sharon, Jack and Kelly. Ozzy wanted to make it back to the UK and appear on stage one last time – our film is an inspiring and poignant account of him fulfilling that dream. " Ozzy was loved by millions around the world not just for his music, but for his sense of mischief and his honesty, all of which we saw plenty of in the final years of his life. But one thing shone through even more brightly to us, and that was Ozzy's intense love for his exceptional family who were by his side through it all." Last month, fans gathered alongside Ozzy's family to pay tribute to the star as a funeral cortege travelled through Birmingham. Sharon and the couple's children could be seen wiping away tears when they arrived at the Black Sabbath bench, where thousands of tributes, balloons and flowers were left. Musicians from Bostin Brass played Black Sabbath songs to accompany the cortege, and fans threw flowers at the hearse as it slowly passed through the city.

An insider said: 'The Balmoral invitation is a huge show of support.' Prince William and Kate and their three children are also due to attend, along with Prince Edward and wife Sophie and their two kids. Bankrupt Katie Price's ex Alex Reid leaks cash counting video to 'expose truth'
Katie's ex Alex Reid has vowed that 'the truth will now be heard'. A video has been leaked of bankrupt Katie Price counting a wad of cash, leading to further questions on her financial situation. Bankrupted twice over debts totalling more than £3m, the video shows Price lounging on a sofa, saying that she is 'enjoying counting' the pile of cash in front of her, adding: "there's loads here … I'm just sorting it out". Then asked by her daughter Princess if she would contribute towards her school fees and those of her second child with ex-husband Peter Andre, the TV personality says 'Your dad can sit on that' and lifting her middle finger. Wearing white jodhpurs and sat next to a Christmas tree, she goes on: 'Does he go on about it a lot? Well it's tough because I'm in bankruptcy to next May now.' Price also refers to a property - 'my London flat' - which she claims to own but which does not appear to have been traced by her bankruptcy trustees, reports the Mirror. The video was released today, August 18, by Price's ex, former cage fighter Alex Reid, who said in a statement that 'the truth will now be heard'. It is believed that the one minute and 38 second video, believed to have been filmed in late 2020, has been sent to Price's bankruptcy trustee who continues to 'seek realisations from various third parties'. Price has been celebrating the end of six years of 'hell' after being discharged from two bankruptcies and claiming it is a 'great achievement'. But a source said: 'A number of people have said that Katie deals in cash but this appears to be the first solid proof. There are lots of people owed a lot of money who now realise they are unlikely to ever get it. Katie gloating about it has stuck in the throat but this is not over.' Price was bankrupted twice - first in 2019 over debts totalling £3.5m, including £970,639 to HMRC and then again last March over a second £761,994 unpaid HMRC demand for money earned while she was already bankrupt. Creditors include Alex Reid who is owed £175,000 in High Court damages and costs he was awarded after Price revealed a sex tape he says was filmed without his consent. In the video, Price is heard claiming that she has 'extended' the bankruptcy 'because Alex Reid wants money from me and he won't be able to get it... he's an a***hole". In a video statement released today, Reid said: 'Over the years you have seen countless stories by Katie Price directed at me, Peter, Kieran and others. Today I want to be clear. "I am spear-heading a campaign to expose the truth. This isn't about gossip but about evidence. It's not about rumour, it's about reality. After years of silence, the time has finally come to reveal all.' He is seen watching the leaked video of Price and reacting, with comments like "this is unbelievable", "she just admitted she lied" and "has my legal team seen this?" Price said earlier this year on The Katie Price Show podcast: 'I'm not bankrupt anymore! I'm out of it, I'm out of both of them. The last six years have been hell - mentally and personally - everything has been hell. I've worked so hard to communicate and get rid of what caused all the trouble and I'm out of it. It's such a nice feeling not to be bankrupt anymore. I'm in control of everything now.' Farheen Qureshi, who was made Price's bankruptcy trustee in April 2023, told the Mirror: 'You should be aware that, notwithstanding that Ms Price has been discharged from both her first and second Bankruptcies, both Bankruptcies are still live and continuing and, in my capacity as her Trustee, I am seeking realisations from various third parties for the respective Bankruptcy estates. I would not wish to prejudice in any way either the outcome of that hearing or the further investigations being undertaken.' Alex Reid's post today marks the latest escalation between Price and her exes, after an equally damning statement against her was made by Peter Andre last week.
