GST dept begins drive against spurious diesel

T'puram: The state GST department has launched a large-scale inspection drive titled Operation Fuego Marino, targeting illegal diesel making and distribution units across the state.
The inspections are being carried out by the department's intelligence and enforcement wing at more than 50 locations, involving nearly 400 officers.
The crackdown focuses on spurious diesel, which poses serious environmental hazards and damages vehicle and machinery engines. Authorities believe the networks, which were previously rampant in other states, are now attempting to expand to Kerala.
In the initial phase, the counterfeit diesel is being supplied mainly to fishing boats.
The product is also being sold through unauthorised coastal diesel pumps and illegal yards. Despite its inferior quality, the spurious diesel is sold under the label of regular diesel, priced only one or two rupees below the market rate, allowing operators to earn massive profits. The units are run entirely without tax compliance.
Searches are being carried out at the homes and establishments of those linked to the illegal trade.

Authorities also initiated investigations against the owners of boats that used the diesel and the pumps that sold it.
The state GST commissioner warned that such illegal activities would not be tolerated under any circumstances and that strict legal action would follow. He also urged both traders and consumers to remain vigilant and avoid involvement in such operations.

Here's when Elon Musk's Tesla is planning to launch its robo taxi service in US
Representative Image Elon Musk has announced a "tentative" launch date for Tesla's robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, set for June 22. The Tesla CEO made this announcement in a post shared on the social media platform X (earlier Twitter), indicating that he'll be travelling from Los Angeles to Austin for the kickoff. Previously, the tech billionaire mentioned a June launch window for the service. When inquired about the start of public rides for the service, Musk specified June 22 as the current plan. He also noted that the first driverless trip from the Tesla factory to a customer's house is scheduled to occur on his birthday, June 28. In his X post, Musk wrote: 'Tentatively, June 22. We are being super paranoid about safety, so the date could shift. First Tesla that drives itself from factory end of line all the way to a customer house is June 28.' The clip showed a black Model Y SUV, marked with a 'Robotaxi' logo, navigating an intersection and pausing for pedestrians, without a human driver inside. Musk said the pilot phase will be limited, starting with 10 to 20 vehicles equipped with a new 'unsupervised' version of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. These initial tests will use the Model Y, rather than the upcoming CyberCab, which is scheduled for production next year. He added that the rollout will be 'geofenced,' meaning the robotaxis will only operate within specific areas, and Tesla employees will monitor them remotely. While some Tesla fans are excited by the launch in Austin, critics, particularly those concerned about road safety and Musk's political affiliations, have raised objections and are planning protests. Karnataka hosts forum to steer state as premier manufacturing hub
Bengaluru: The Karnataka govt has lined up Rs 3,100 crore to provide dedicated water lines to industries in and around Bengaluru. Karnataka industries minister MB Patil said the project is expected to be completed in 18 months, hailing it as a game changer for industries. The govt hosted the first edition of the Uthpadana Manthana, a post-Invest Karnataka 2025 initiative designed to accelerate the state's vision of becoming India's premier manufacturing hub. The day-long conclave served as a strategic platform to engage directly with industry leaders and co-create a clear, actionable roadmap for industrial growth. The conclave brought together around 80 senior executives from nearly 60 companies across key sectors. These leaders engaged in focused discussions around six priority areas identified by the govt -- aerospace & defence (including space tech and drones), electronics and semiconductors, capital goods and robotics, auto & electric vehicles, technical and textiles, and consumer products such as FMCG, footwear, and toys. Patil said, "The broader objective of Uthpadana Manthana is aligned with the state's vision to attract Rs 7.5 lakh crore in investments and create 20 lakh jobs over the next five years. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like เทรดทองCFDsกับโบรกเกอร์ที่เชื่อถือได้| เปิดบัญชีวันนี้ IC Markets สมัคร Undo The govt is also focused on scaling up merchandise exports by leveraging free trade warehousing zones, export-oriented industrial parks, and faster port access." Karnataka seeks to establish itself as India's most competitive ESDM manufacturing destination by attracting OSAT/ATMP players and strengthening the component ecosystem. " Some of the industry leaders who participated in the event include Aravind Melligeri, chairman of Aequs, Niranjan Nayak, MD of Delta Electronics, Avinash Avula, country president of Applied Materials, and Harish Hanagudu, managing director of Krones. During the conclave, sector leaders presented recommendations that were consolidated into a govt action plan for the next 6–9 months. Suggestions included integrating elective courses in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing into academic curricula with a focus on hands-on learning; improving port connectivity to Mangaluru and Chennai from industrial clusters to ease exports; and streamlining customs clearance procedures to enhance ease of doing business. There was also a strong call for the development of integrated industrial townships with plug-and-play infrastructure, last-mile connectivity, and social amenities. The need to simplify approvals for environmental and operational clearances (such as consent for establishment and consent for action), create shared factory spaces for startups, and offer incentives for apprenticeship-driven companies was also emphasised.
