Trade deficit shrinks in June on sharper drop in imports
New Delhi: India's goods exports in June fell a tad from a year earlier, but a sharper drop in imports aided the trade deficit to narrow to a four-month low. Exports reduced 0.05% year-on-year to $35.14 billion, a seven month low, while imports fell 3.71% to $53.92 billion, leaving a trade deficit of $18.78 billion compared with $20.84 billion in June last year. Exports to the US in the past month rose sharply to $25.52 billion from $20.89 billion, despite the base tariff on Indian goods shipped to the US rising to 10%. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like ¿Por Qué los CFDs de Criptomonedas Podrían Adaptarse a Su Cartera? India's goods and services exports in April-June is estimated to be $210 billion, up 6% on-year and the highest on record for the first quarter of a fiscal year. "If the growth continues like this, then we are going to cross last year's exports figures," said commerce secretary Sunil Barthwal . Live Events In FY25, goods and services shipments reached a record high of $825 billion. Exports in 14 of 30 key sectors including petroleum products, fabrics, gems and jewellery, leather, iron ore and spices fell in June, according to data released by the commerce and industry ministry on Tuesday. "Trade in June was affected by a fall in crude oil prices," Barthwal said. Crude oil and gold imports in June fell 8.37% and 25.73% to $13.8 billion and $1.9 billion, respectively. Import monitoring Barthwal said the department is monitoring "unusual surges" in imports of commodities and will take action if found that the increase in the inbound shipment was on account of any malpractice. Last month, the government imposed import curbs on certain colloidal precious metals to check illegal inflow of gold into India in the liquid form. EU, ASEAN trade India and the EU will hold the next round of negotiations on the proposed free trade agreement (FTA) in September here and both sides have exchanged offers related to the services sectors last week. The last (12th) round of talks concluded last week in Brussels. "We have exchanged our offers on services and non-services... there were discussions on that. We also discussed key interests in market access related to goods as well," said L Satya Srinivas, special secretary, Department of Commerce. Separately, India expects to reach some kind of conclusion on the review negotiations of the existing FTA in goods with the 10-nation Asean bloc before the Asean-India Summit, scheduled for October.

Doctor shares shocking reason at US Senate hearing on why heart attacks have become so common in people under 40
Until a few years ago, heart attacks were something many associated with people in their 60s or older. But things are changing, and not for the better. More and more young adults, some as young as their late 20s or early 30s, are now falling victim to heart attacks. Recently, a prominent US-based cardiologist, Dr Peter McCullough, shared disturbing findings that shed light on this alarming trend. At a US Senate hearing held on May 21, 2024, Dr McCullough, alongside other top experts, revealed critical insights into what might be fueling this early onset of heart disease. What followed was a deeply unsettling, evidence-based discussion that called attention to some uncomfortable truths. What the headlines say: 'Lifestyle choices are to blame' It's common to hear that poor lifestyle habits, like junk food, lack of exercise, smoking, and alcohol, are behind the spike in heart attacks among younger individuals. While these certainly play a role, Dr McCullough emphasised that something deeper and more systemic may be at work. There's growing clinical concern that external medical interventions, such as repeated exposure to mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines, may also contribute to cardiac stress in certain people, especially young men. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo This doesn't discount lifestyle factors but suggests that the risk picture might be more complex than previously believed. The hidden role of Myocarditis in young hearts Dr McCullough and his peers raised a critical point: a condition called myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle, has been underreported and downplayed. While mild cases may resolve, in some individuals, myocarditis may progress silently and cause severe damage, increasing the chances of a sudden cardiac event. A major autopsy-based study presented during the Senate hearing linked 74% of unexpected post-vaccine deaths to complications from myocarditis. These cases weren't always detected during routine clinical checks. What's more chilling is that many of the affected individuals were young and otherwise healthy. Watch for chest discomfort, shortness of breath, sweating, or pain in the jaw, back, or arms. In others, look for signs like clutching the chest or sudden collapse. Women and diabetics may show subtle signs like nausea or fatigue. The overlap between COVID, vaccines, and cardiac stress There's a tendency to attribute sudden deaths or strokes in young people to long COVID, stress, or even gym workouts. However, experts like Dr McCullough argue that the overlap of COVID infection plus repeated vaccine boosters might be causing an immune overreaction in certain individuals. When an mRNA vaccine is followed by a COVID-19 infection, it may amplify inflammatory responses in the body, especially around the heart. This "double-hit" effect can go unnoticed but may increase the risk of cardiac complications, including rhythm disturbances and blood clots. This isn't a call to reject vaccines or ignore medical advice. It's time to focus on both prevention and informed decision-making. That includes monitoring for early symptoms of heart strain (like chest discomfort, palpitations, or shortness of breath), prioritising cardiac check-ups in young adults with unexplained fatigue, and understanding that heart health today requires more than the traditional advice of 'eat better and move more. Committed to eradicating evil practices life black magic: State govt to Kerala HC
Kochi: A new affidavit submitted by the state govt in high court on Tuesday indicates that the govt seems to have significantly softened its stand on a legislating against black magic, witchcraft, sorcery and other inhumane practices carried out under the guise of supernatural powers. A previous affidavit filed by home department deputy secretary had asserted that the council of ministers, on July 5, 2023, had decided not to proceed with the Kerala Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices, Sorcery and Black Magic Bill, 2019. It was also contended that this was a policy decision which may not be interfered with by the court. Upon perusing the affidavit, the division bench had noted that it failed to clarify whether the state endorsed such practices or had merely chosen not to eradicate them. HC had also directed home department to file a detailed affidavit clarifying the state's stand on the issue and the steps it proposes to take. In Tuesday's affidavit, filed by home department additional chief secretary Biswanath Sinha, the state clarified that although the proposed legislation has been deferred, the govt has no intention of stepping back from the subject. The matter remains under active consideration, and the state remains committed to evolving a legal framework that will effectively curb harmful practices while fully respecting constitutional rights and cultural sensitivities. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like เปรียบเทียบสเปรด: ระหว่าง Bitcoin และ Ethereum CFDs IC Markets อ่านเพิ่มเติม Undo The affidavit also outlined the challenges in legislating against such practices, particularly in balancing constitutional religious freedoms with the need to prevent abuse and harm. It emphasised that it is extremely difficult to draw a legally sustainable distinction between faith, belief and superstition. A matter of deep spiritual belief for one individual or community may be viewed as superstition by another. Any legislative attempt to regulate or prohibit practices considered superstitious requires legal clarity and cultural sensitivity and must therefore be preceded by careful and detailed deliberations, the affidavit stated.
