Hunar Hale to portray Kaikeyi in Veer Hanuman

Hunar Hale After patiently waiting for the right opportunity, Hunar Hale — last seen in Deewani, which wrapped up in December 2024 — is now set to return to television. She has been finalised to portray the role of Kaikeyi in Siddharth Kumar Tewary 's upcoming mythological series Veer Hanuman – Bolo Bajrang Bali Ki Jai. This marks her second foray into the mythological genre after Paramavatar Shri Krishna, where she essayed the role of Rukmini five years ago. While Hunar remained unavailable for comment, a source closely associated with the show shared, 'We finalised Hunar for the character because she fits the part perfectly. Just like the other mythological characters in the show, we've put in a lot of effort into crafting Kaikeyi's role. It will be portrayed with great depth and nuance. Hunar has already begun shooting in Umbergaon.' Interestingly, preparing for the role required a physical change for the actress. Hunar had to undergo a dental procedure to align with the appearance of the character. The source revealed, 'She had to get a procedure done to correct her buck tooth for the role of Kaikeyi. In mythological shows, it is crucial for actors to look a certain way. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Since the shoot was scheduled to begin immediately, she opted for composite bonding as a temporary fix. It was a two-hour procedure to get her ready for the part.' Before being finalised for this significant role in Veer Hanuman, the actress was also approached to play the antagonist in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. However, the discussions reportedly fell through due to budgetary concerns. Hunar has been part of numerous television shows over the years, including Grihasti, 12/24 Karol Bagh, Sasural Genda Phool, Chhal – Sheh Aur Maat, Thapki Pyaar Ki, Patiala Babes, and Gauna – Ek Pratha. Apart from acting, she is deeply passionate about music and environmental causes. On the personal front, Hunar has been married to actor Mayank Gandhi for the past nine years.

Amuse-bouche to mignardise: Celebrating the versatile aloo

Amuse-bouche: Mini baked potatoes Palate cleanser: Salted potato crisps Crispy French fries, creamy mashed potato, the everyday aloo gobi or the wholesome aloo ke parathe – the ubiquitous potato transcends cuisines, courses and cultures. On International Day of the Potato (May 30), how about celebrating the versatility of the humble spud with a delectable spread - from amuse-bouche to mignardise (pronounced mean-ya-deez, one-bite desserts usually served at the end of the meal)? On the versatility of potato, Chef Ishijyot Surri says, 'Different cultures around the world use potatoes in diverse ways. Potatoes can be boiled, fried, baked, or even mashed, and they absorb flavours beautifully. So, every culture has its own version of their recipes.' Adds Mikhail Shahani, chef, co-founder & product head at a biryani brand, 'In India, we are embracing regionality — Bengali aloo bharta with mustard oil is now making it to menus as a small plate or the Maharashtrian batata rassa elevated with smoked chilli oils. Traditional dishes like aloo dum are also being elevated with techniques like double-cooking or smoke infusion using mustard husks.' 'Globally, chefs are showcasing potatoes as the star while also intersecting it with sustainability. Chefs are creating hyper-seasonal potato dishes that rely less on imported ingredients and more on local biodiversity,' says Mikhail Shahani, chef, co-founder & product head at a biryani brand. Chef Vidhi Doshi adds, 'Potatoes are gaining gourmet level 'main character' energy. From Michelin star restaurants serving vada pav and dum aloo in genius ways to using different cooking techniques like sous vide, foam, confit, there's just so much potential with this versatile ingredient.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo 'Beyond chips, fries, and aloo gobi' Experts believe that while potato is widely used across the world in different cuisines, the spud is making its presence felt in interesting gourmet dishes. 'In India, potatoes are being served with goat cheese or are rolled into sushi-style servings. Internationally, people are using Columbian heritage potatoes and making colourful potato foams or baking potato bread. Every chef has their own signature way of accentuating the flavour and texture of the product. Today, potatoes need not only be an accompaniment but can be showcased as the star of the dish,' shares chef Surri. Mignardise: Purple sweet potato tartlet Tips to upgrade your everyday potato fare Shepherd's pie to masala pie : Use spiced soy keema and a cumin-infused potato mash topping. Potato salad to chaat-style salad : Add tamarind chutney, sev, chaat masala, and fresh coriander. Croquettes to aloo tikki : Stuff with goat cheese and spiced Parsi keema. Desi gnocchi : Creamy makhani sauce or coconut curry can be used instead of the typical cheese or cream. You can also prepare a tadka of curry leaves, hing, mustard seeds, coriander and jeera in some curd and add the crispy gnocchi to it Hash browns with a desi twist : Add kasuri methi, green chillies, and fennel seeds. Potato salad: Try a yoghurt dressing with mustard seeds and curry leaves in place of mayo. Potato beverages ? Yes! 'Potatoes are entering the beverage space both as a starch base and a flavouring agent,' shares chef Mikhail, adding, 'Mixologists are now exploring potato-whey spirits, infused with botanicals.' Fermented kanji with purple potatoes adds visual appeal and probiotic benefits Potato milk, a new vegan alternative, is being paired with cardamom or cinnamon for sustainable lattes Potatoes bring body and a surprisingly clean mouthfeel to drinks There's a popular Swedish drink, which claims to be the world's first potato-based milk alternative. It can be used in cooking, baking, and as a beverage Beignets with sweet potato filling Enjoy potatoes guilt-free Sweet potatoes are slightly healthier than white potatoes because they pack more fibre and vitamin A, fueling energy and glowing skin. White potatoes offer potassium and vitamin C, supporting heart health. Choose sweet for antioxidants, white for versatility Nutrient-rich and satisfying, potatoes curb hunger when prepared wisely — think baked/steamed, not fried. Their fibre keeps you full, preventing overeating. Pair with veggies or lean protein for balance The biggest myth is that potatoes are 'unhealthy' or fattening. Potatoes are nutrient powerhouses — packed with vitamins, fibre, and energy. It's not the potato but the prep: frying or drowning in butter adds calories Love potatoes guilt-free by keeping it simple and wholesome. Use it twice or thrice a week either as a sabzi mixed with other veggies or you can even bake or roast with a drizzle of olive oil and herbs for flavour. No salary for VC and registrar if fellowship is delayed, Kerala high court rules on PhD scholar's plea

Kochi: High court has ordered Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, to clear the arrears of fellowship due to a research student within a month, failing which the salaries of the vice-chancellor (VC) and registrar shall be withheld until the fellowship is paid. The court further observed that if the VC is receiving a regular salary, there can be no justification for the non-payment of the petitioner's fellowship. The bench of Justice D K Singh was considering the petition filed by Adarsh E, alias Aadhi, a research scholar in Malayalam and recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Endowment 2023 for his book 'Pennappan'. Adarsh had been sanctioned a PhD research fellowship, but the fellowship had not been disbursed. According to the petitioner, the dues for the previous year were disbursed following protests, but the fellowship amount from Jan 2025 remains pending. The university's counsel argued that the institution was facing a financial crunch, which prevented the release of funds. The court was not convinced, noting that the govt had already allocated Rs 2.62 crore to the university, undermining the claim of financial hardship. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! Until full compliance is achieved, the salaries of the VC and registrar shall remain withheld. According to Aadhi, the judgment brought relief to the students at the university who were protesting against the long delay in the disbursement of fellowships. "I believe the order will have a far-reaching effect as it will force other universities in the state and beyond to ensure that student fellowships are paid on time," said Aadhi.

Menstrual health matters: Why menstrual hygiene must be a right, not a privilege

What Every Girl Deserves: Safe, Clean, and Shame-Free Periods In today's world, the taboo surrounding menstruation is not just a women's issue but has transformed as a major public health issue. Despite being a natural bodily function, instead of receiving the required basic tools for effective management and hygiene, menstruation is still surrounded with social stigma and become 'not-to talk about' a topic. Menstrual Hygiene Day serves both as a reminder and a call to action for something that is natural and a routine – Menstruation. It is startling to see how menstruation is still surrounded with so much silence, stigma and misinformation, that many girls and women have suffered in silence both physically and emotionally, just because of lack of support and right information surrounding periods. Menstrual hygiene has come way long far than just the use of sanitary pads or other products, and now raises the need for ensuring safe materials, access to cleanliness, availability of private and hygienic place to change and safe disposal, and at last, having the correct knowledge on how to care for one's body during these times. However, many girls and women, especially in the rural and low-income settings, are still deprived of these basic needs and knowledge. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo It has been witnessed that in such settings where school going girls do not have access to hygienic products of washrooms in schools, often tend to skip schools on these particular days or even drop out altogether. Poor menstrual hygiene is also responsible for infections like UTI or RTI, skin issues etc. But going beyond these physical traumas, the silent emotional toll of embarrassment, shame and isolation also severely impacts their confidence and self-esteem. Apart from the mental strain and emotional trauma, some of the most common complications associated with poor menstrual hygiene include – 1. UTI's and infections – If the sanitary pads are not clean or changed timely, this leads to multiplication of bacteria rapidly leading to painful infections, and in some cases lead to long term reproductive health complications. 2. Risk of rashes and Skin irritation – Prolonged wearing of same pad or using inappropriate material can lead to itching, fungal infections or even rashes. 3. Elevated risk of HPV infections – Repetitive infections can lead to chronic inflammation, developing a vulnerable environment for more serious complications, especially in the cervix. This can raise the risk of developing HPV infection. Basic but Essential tips to maintain Good Menstrual Hygiene Maintaining good menstrual hygiene, need not be complicated or expensive, but following the below mentioned basic tips will work – 1. Cleanliness and comfort - Choose the best suited sanitary product, which is clean and comfortable, be it sanitary pads, tampons, menstrual cup or even reusable cloth pad. 2. Change Frequently - As the thumb rule says, it is advisable to change every 4-6 hours or sooner if required. 3. Wash with clean water – During every change, warm water is usually enough to clean the area, and avoid using any harsh soaps or intimate washes. 4. Sensible Disposal – before discarding the used pads, wrap it in paper, or if one is using reusable cloth pads, then it is advised to wash the cloth properly and dry it in sunlight before next use. These might seem like small steps, but together they can prevent a range of problems and make a huge difference to overall well-being. Everything Starts at Home! Even today, in many homes, menstruation is still a stigma, considered a quiet topic, which is often perceived by daughters in whispers with misinformation, being too late, frightening or confusing. Ans in some parts of our country girls are still considered as impure during their menses, and not allowed to cook, go to temples, or even sit at common places in house. All this need to change. Mothers should be responsible to make their daughters feel comfortable to talk about their first period(menarche), and the school education should also include boys on this topic. The more we normalize it, the less stigma there will be. Shipwreck off Kochi coast: Shipping officer to meet govt agencies, insurer to streamline claims

Kochi: The nodal officer appointed by the directorate general of shipping (DGS) will meet with state govt agencies and officials of the insurer to streamline the claims arising out of the sinking of the vessel MSC ELSA-3 vessel off the coast of Kochi. The meeting will also involve a representative of the insurer from the UK who is expected to arrive on Monday. DGS sources said that those affected, including the fisherfolk, need not worry as their grievances would be addressed. "Since it would be challenging for the fisherfolk to come forward with claims themselves, the state govt will take the lead role in coordinating with them as they will have the actual data. Whatever grievances they have will be addressed. The insurance company would try to take care of losses, including the loss of their livelihood," said deputy nautical adviser Capt Anish Joseph, the nodal officer appointed for the purpose. An SOP would soon be formed to deal with the compensation claims arising from the sinking. Sources also said that the insurance companies involved are reputable and are part of the international group of the protection and indemnity (P&I) clubs. The nodal officer will be travelling to Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kanyakumari to meet with govt officials. Sources said that setting up district-wise cells to facilitate the process was also under consideration. Sources added that the first part will be the submission of the claims, then there will be scrutiny from the insurance side, after which the payout is likely to happen. "We want only fisherfolk to come forward, which is why the state govt is to take the lead," said a source adding that bogus claims can derail or delay the process. The govt will also be making claims for compensation since response measures are being undertaken by Coast Guard as well as the state govt. Sources added that salvage operations are also underway, and as per the water sampling tests so far, the water levels were not at a level that causes concern, said sources. Meanwhile, a special National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOS-DCP) meeting chaired by director general of Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Paramesh Sivamani was conducted on Friday to review the pollution response action plan post the sinking of the vessel. Stakeholders from multiple govt agencies collaborated to discuss response efforts, ensuring a unified approach to protect the sensitive ecosystems of Kerala and south Tamil Nadu's coastline and safeguard the livelihoods of fisherfolk affected by the incident, ICG said in a post on X.
