Days of Our Lives Recap: Gabi Loses Control With Arianna When She Stays Out All Night Long
On today's Days of Our Lives recap:
Horton Square: Leo and Javi are chowing down and discussing their night at the Salem Inn. Javi just couldn't face Gabi after their contentious showdown. Leo has an idea for his beloved and suggests he go back to being a firefighter/paramedic. Javi is reluctant but promises to think about it. With that, they head back to the Salem Inn to hit the sheets.
Hernandez House: Gabi is freaking out and wants to head back out with JJ to find Arianna Grace. She thanks him for all his help saying he's gone above and beyond especially considering their current relationship status. JJ says it's all good and promises they will find Arianna.
Gabi and JJ grab some sustenance, and she asks why teenagers typically disappear for periods of time. JJ says it can be related to drugs or alcohol but it could also be about meeting up with a boy. Gabi can't imagine her daughter being with a boy she just met. JJ notes she could have met someone on the plane or on one of the apps. Gabi can't consider such a thing as she just turned eighteen. Arianna Grace isn't the type to sneak out in the middle of the night, even though she's always been a wee boy crazy.
Salem Inn: Young Douglas and Arianna Grace chat after their hookup. She says she needs to head home, but he wants to go for round two.
Arianna Grace and young Douglas get dressed and she wants to know about hooking up again. He's down but notes how pricey the Salem Inn is considering he is strapped for cash. She says she's down to pay but he won't hear of it. Arianna asks about meeting up at his place, but he thinks it could be difficult based on all kinds of logistical issues.
Brady Pub: Melinda is meeting with Sophia about giving her baby up for adoption. Melinda says she is well-versed in the process. Sophia explains what happened with Johnny and Chanel (without mentioning them by name). Melinda asks about Tate and she says he has the flu but is on board. Melinda follows up with a question about her mother, but Sophia says she's just turned eighteen. Her mother will not be a problem. Just then, Mama Choi walks through the door, surprised her daughter is not in school. She is clearly going to be a problem.
Sophia introduces her mother to Melinda. Mama Choi recognizes her name and notes her less than stellar reputation as the former DA. She asks again why her daughter is meeting with Melinda, and Sophia says she is hiring her to put her baby up for adoption. Mama Choi does everything but actually put her foot down when she says her daughter will be doing no such thing.
Melinda gets up to leave but Sophia begs her to stay. She reluctantly agrees and watches as Sophia talks to her mother. She says she was afraid how her mother would react, but it's her life and she is giving her baby up for adoption. In the background, Melinda is in her feelings, presumably about her own situation with Haley. Mama Choi says she will not stand by and let her move forward with this adoption. Melinda steps up and sides with Sophia saying it's her decision and she has no legal right to interfere. She goes on to say if she doesn't back down, she is likely to lose both her daughter and granddaughter.
Mama Choi pushes back hard at Melinda, who explains about her own history. She says her father wanted to kick her out of the family when her mother stepped up. Melinda came to live in the US while Haley remained in China with her parents who raised her as their own. Eventually, they reunited but her daughter died shortly afterwards. Melinda knows giving up Haley was the right thing to do. She begs Mama Choi one more time to not lose her daughter over this decision.
Marlena and John's Penthouse: Tate has recovered from his flu and wonders where everyone is. He calls his father and learns about his grandfather's grave condition. Tate says he'll head to the hospital ASAP.
Johnny and Chanel's New Digs: Johnny and Chanel are basking in the afterglow of christening their new place. Neither of them can believe that Paulina gave them the place for only one dollar. They chat about his new job and Johnny grabs his phone to check in. He sees a ton of new messages from his family about Grandpa John.
Johnny calls Samantha Gene and explains to Chanel about the current situation with John and Bo. He says his mom and Sydney are trying to get a flight out, but a volcano eruption has grounded all the flights. Chanel reminds Johnny that John is the strongest man they know and will pull through. Johnny thought the same about Stefano but had to learn even the strongest men can't live forever.
Horton Square: Tate runs into Johnny and Chanel and they catch up about John. Tate says he just saw his grandpa and he doesn't look good. Tate begins to tear up as he thinks about all the stories he wanted to share with him. Chanel comforts him by saying she just knows he will pull through. She asks if he wants to go back to the hospital with them, but Tate has to meet up with Sophia to try and work on finding another couple to adopt their child. They all wish each other well and awkwardly part ways.
Arianna Grace and young Douglas emerge from the Salem Inn and quickly part ways when they see Tate, Johnny and Chanel. She takes a seat and reviews all the texts from her mother. Just then, Gabi runs towards her daughter and pulls her into a frantic hug. JJ joins as Gabi yells at Arianna and he says she should give her daughter a chance to explain. She ignores him and demands to know why her daughter ignored the 47 text messages she sent. Arianna lies saying she was with her school friend Cora. She gets all kinds of snarky with her mother before Gabi shuts her down. Arianna says she is eighteen and can do what she wants. They both look to JJ for validation before he says he will not be getting in between a mother and daughter.
Javi arrives on the scene and Arianna Grace says her mother is in full on psycho mode. He wanted to apologize for missing her birthday and asks if he can take her to dinner. Arianna makes a snarky comment about why Javi missed out and Gabi says she tried to invite him and apologize. Javi doesn't want to hear it and says he can't continue to deal with her cycle of abuse. Gabi admits to being awful and says she never should have fired him. She knows she overreacted. Javi says he loves his cousin but knows they can't continue to work together. That being said, he and Leo will return to the house that evening. With that, he exits.
JJ takes a call leaving Gabi and Arianna Grace to continue their showdown. Arianna apologizes to her mother and says she won't leave her hanging again. Gabi calms down but asks her daughter if she was really at a friend's house or was she with a boy. Arianna says she wasn't with a boy and simply turned her phone off. She wonders why her mother is being so suspicious and Gabi goes off. Just then, JJ returns and tells Arianna about her Great Grandpa John.
Brady Pub: Mama Choi thanks Melinda for sharing her very personal story. She tells Sophia she loves her and wants what is best for her. Just then, she gets a text from work. They agree to finish the conversation at home. After her mother leaves, Sophia thanks Melinda for trying to help. Sophia asks if she will agree to be her lawyer. Just then, Tate arrives and says they will not be hiring Melinda Trask.
Hernandez House: Young Douglas arrives and asks Leo for help tracking down Julie's necklace. He thinks he needs someone with an expertise dealing with folks on the other side of the law.
Johnny and Chanel's New Digs: The couple return from the hospital and Johnny is freaked out by John's condition. Chanel notes he is stable and simply needs time to heal. Johnny knows he should be more like his grandpa, upbeat even in the worst situations. It's why he wanted to use John as the middle name for their child. Chanel says they can when they are ready to start a family.
Endings
Sophia had no idea Melinda was involved in Holly's brother being stolen. Melinda knows she got overly involved in the situation and made some sketchy choices, which she regrets. She turns to Sophia and says she sees so much of herself in her. If she and her mother can agree on the adoption, Melinda will be happy to work with her. With that, Melinda exits.
Leo agrees to help young Douglas track down Julie's necklace. As he is leaving, he runs into Javi. Leo asks about Javi's run-in with Gabi and he says all is good. What's more important is he has decided to apply to the Salem Fire Department.
JJ indicates John's condition is serious and Arianna Grace says she needs to see him. Gabi says she will go with her and thanks JJ for all his help.
Johnny thanks Chanel for taking the day off work to support him. He mentions his new job at Titan/DiMera and Chanel wonders if he really wants to work with Xander. He says he can use the income and doesn't want to depend on DiMera money to support his family. With that, they kiss.

Days of Our Lives Recap: Bo Reunites With His Family
Days of Our Lives Recap: Bo Reunites With His Family originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Hospital/Recovery Center: Hope walks Bo into the sitting area and he can't believe he's been out for two years and she stayed by his side. He suddenly has a memory and says how sorry he is for what he did to her, Kayla and everyone (For those who don't remember, Bo was acting like Victor and was quite menacing, which is why Shawn Douglas shot him). Hope says everything is forgiven and begins kissing him all over his face. Ciara Alice and Shawn Douglas are standing in Bo's room. She can't believe his recovery happened so quickly. Ciara thanks her brother for securing the serum. Shawn D notes he worked with Kayla, Steve and John. They both hope John will continue to recover. Ciara walks out when Shawn Douglas gets a call from Kayla. He updates his aunt on his dad's condition when Kayla clearly tells him about John's death. Ciara walks into the sitting area and freaks out a bit to find her parents kissing. They tell her to join, and Bo is so excited to see his grown-up daughter. They embrace and exchange I love yous. Ciara says she has a little boy and girl and wants him to meet them soon. Further, she says she and Ben have been traveling the world on a boat just like they did. Bo says he's going to have to meet Ben and make sure he's worthy of his daughter (Oh Lord…). Ciara says he's a great guy and a good father (and a former serial killer, but whatever). Just then, Shawn Douglas joins the party. Shawn Douglas hugs his father and he says he feels so blessed to have his family around him. Shawn D asks what he remembers about what happened to him. Bo says he remembers having cancer and being on death's door. Shawn D says he shot him and has been haunted by it ever since. Bo stops his son and says he has nothing to be sorry for. He remembers what happened and knows he was only doing what was necessary to protect his mother. Bo says the one person responsible is Megan Hathaway (can she come back, please?) and Hope agrees. Bo pulls his son close and says how proud he is to be Shawn D's father. They pass around croissants and Ciara says Chelsea will be stopping by soon with her baby. Bo is stunned to learn he has four grandchildren, in total. He asks about Claire and Shawn D says she is working as a public relations specialist in South Africa with Theo Carver. Bo is rightfully surprised until Ciara provides a few more details. He moves along to Belle and Shawn D says they are divorced but are friends. He realizes how much he has missed and asks about all the news from Salem. Hope tells Bo about Kimberly and says Shane indicated they found her cancer in time and should recover after treatment. Bo wants to go visit her and then shifts to asking about his other family, including Philip and Brady. Hope says Philip is still sparring for control of Titan but with someone new, Xander Cook. Bo remembers him as one of Victor's henchmen, but they explain he is now the co-CEO of Titan and is also his half-brother. It doesn't truly surprise him to learn Victor had yet another child. He asks about Victor, and they carefully tell him about his father's passing. Bo can't believe someone so indestructible could be gone. He learns about the plane crash and asks how Maggie is holding up. Hope says she's doing ok with the support of the family. He freaks out a bit because he never got the chance to tell Victor he loved him or to say goodbye. Hope tries to comfort him but realizes there's more bad news to give and tells him about Doug. He collapses in tears and says how sorry he is. Bo says he's so sorry he wasn't there and knows how much he loved his princess. Ciara leaves and returns with her children, Addie and Bo. She says she's been telling them about their grandfather their whole lives. Little Bo says hi to his grandpa and he heads over to give him a hug and sit in his lap (adorable). Johnny and Chanel's Apartment: Chanel says Carrie just called and reports his Grandpa John died. Johnny can't believe his grandpa is gone. He says he doesn't think he lived up to his name but Chanel shuts that mess down, saying he is brave with a heart of gold. Further, she notes John absolutely adored him. Johnny says he needs to get over to his grandmother's place and Chanel heads out with him. Salem Inn – Paul and Andrew's Room: Andrew arrives and immediately embraces a distraught Paul. He thinks the whole situation is unfair as his dad was so close to being home with Marlena. Andrew says John lived and died as a hero and is responsible for saving Bo's life. Paul understands everything Andrew is saying but wishes, this once, he hadn't played the hero. Paul says his dad was getting better and can't believe everything went down hill so quickly. Andrew knows that makes the situation much worse. Paul wants to get over to Marlena's place to make sure they give her support. Andrew thinks they should stay put so he can be Paul's rock. Horton Square: Marlena walks through the square and takes a seat by Tom and Alice's plaque. Flashback: Marlena remembers one of her weddings to John. In real-time, she says how much she misses John already. Marlena and John's Penthouse: Carrie, Will and Eric are gathering food from the neighbors. They wonder where Marlena is and Carrie says she wasn't there when she arrived this morning. Will gets a call from his mother saying Sydney broke her arm and collar bone. She has to have surgery which means neither of them will be in Salem for the funeral. Just then, Marlena walks in and says she went out to inform John's dad about his passing. Will says they could have gone with her but she says she has to learn to do things on her own. Carrie hugs her and says she doesn't have to worry about being alone. Marlena bypasses her comments and starts looking for thank you notes to write to all the people who brought food. Will and Eric says they will handle it and want her to take care of herself. Marlena says she has some arrangements to make and excuses herself to the bedroom. Marlena returns with information about John's wishes for his funeral (which they put together after Doug passed). John wanted a reception at the Brady Pub and Carrie says she and Will will take care of it. With that, they hug Marlena and exit. Eric asks if his mother wants to rest but she thinks she simply wants to sit with him. He says he loves his mother and wants to know if it would help to talk. Marlena agrees and talks about what it was like when she first met John. She immediately knew he would risk his life for the people he loved. She says Bo was like his brother and Eric says they were brothers. Marlena gets weepy and says 'there's never enough time' when someone is your everything. Just then, Johnny and Chanel arrive. Johnny asks about his mother and Eric lets him know why she and Sydney won't make it. Marlena hopes Sami can find peace as John was the man who raised her. She turns to Johnny and says she hopes he can find peace with his own father, as well. Johnny says today is about her and Grandpa John, his namesake. Johnny hopes he can make him proud. Marlena assures him that he always made John proud. Marlena tells Eric that his Uncle Bo is on the mend. She says she's happy for everyone, but wonders if their family's miracle came at John's expense. She wonders if she's being terrible but Eric says she's simply being human. Marlena says John risked his life to save Bo and notes what an extraordinary man he is… was. Horton Square: Carrie and Will run into Paul and Andrew. They all embrace and discuss their relationships to John. Andrew says they were talking about all the adventures their fathers went on together and what a great team they made. Carrie wonders if anyone would have ever dreamed the sons of great ISA agents would one day fall head over heels in love. Endings Johnny and Chanel return home. He was on the phone with Alex who told him to take as much time as he needs to deal with John's death. Chanel promises to be with him every step of the way. Johnny thanks her for loving him and they kiss. Ciara Alice wants to get Bo and Addie back to the hotel and Shawn Douglas agrees to go with them so their dad can rest. They all embrace and agree to see each other later in the day. Bo and Hope take a seat and he admits to being a little overwhelmed but is basically is thankful for having his family around him. He is thrilled to say the one thing that hasn't changed is his love for her. With that, they kiss. Carrie, Will, Paul and Andrew return to Marlena's penthouse. She's so glad to see Paul and Andrew. Paul says the love John had for her was everything. He knows she's aware but Marlena is very clearly touched by his words. Andrew thanks Eric for offering to be the officiant at their wedding but says they have put it off indefinitely. Marlena begs them to have their ceremony in Salem before they go. Paul and Andrew agree to do it in honor of John. Hope looks at pictures of Bo when Shawn Douglas returns. They embrace in excitement over Bo's recovery. Shawn D asks where his father is and Hope says he's back in his room. He takes the opportunity to tell her John died. Keep checking back for the latest Days of Our Lives recaps! Bold & Beautiful Preview: Luna's Armed and Aiming For Steffy! Will She Kill Her New Dad's Wife?
Sometimes on soaps, things escalate quickly. That explains how over the past few days, Bold & Beautiful's Luna went from verbally jousting with would-be rival Electra to suggesting she and grandma Sheila join forces to get rid of Steffy! Fortunately, Sheila is a whole new person, right? She's exorcised her demons thanks to the love of a good decent man. But look closely at the scene in which this proposition was put forth, and you'll see a glimmer of the old Sheila. One who, if only for a split second, thought, 'Life would be easier without Steffy!' More from The Life and Crimes Bold & Beautiful's Luna Nozawa Although Sheila is determined to prevent her grandchild from spiraling out of control, the fact that Luna has already killed two men might indicate it's too late. And as the scenes for this week indicate, Luna is about to run out and get herself a gun. Now, do any of us really think for a second that the soap would let the double murderess make it a threefer by rubbing out Steffy? Certainly not. She will remain front and center until the day that Jacqueline MacInnes Wood wants to exit stage left a la Susan Flannery, for whose indomitable character the younger woman is named. But Steffy will need to vanish from the canvas for a hot minute so her portrayer can give birth to her and hubby Elan Ruspoli's fifth child. With her due date rapidly approaching, it's a safe bet that Luna's latest descent into madness will play a role in Steffy's upcoming departure. The real question is exactly how things will play out over the next few weeks. And as you might guess, we have thoughts on that! Luna kidnaps Steffy. And why not? She's done it before, drugging Steffy and leaving her locked in a cage in a building that was scheduled for demolition. This possibility gives Sheila a chance to discover what her granddaughter has done and actually behave in a sane, rational manner for a change. (She's even advising Luna to steer clear of Steffy.) Sheila could take over her daughter-in-law's care, whereas Luna was going to leave her to starve. So by the time the prisoner escaped — or was set free by Sheila — Steffy would begrudgingly feel indebted to her monster-in-law. Luna might be sent straight back to the slammer, but Granny might end up in those Forrester-Finnegan family photos after all! Luna kills Steffy. That is, she 'kills' Steffy. Luna thinks that she's removed the one obstacle to a relationship with Finn, maybe by running her stepmother off the road (like Maw May did Li). Luna delights in 'being there' for Finn in his hour of need and even suggesting that Sheila should rejoice: This is her big chance to bond with him, too! Little do either of them know that an amnesiac Steffy has washed up on the beach and embarked on a friendship with a sexy surfer (maybe played by Days of Our Lives' Greg Vaughan, ex-Eric). By the time Steffy discovers her true identity, maybe she's caught feelings for the new guy and returns home not only determined to get Luna sent up the river but forget the handsome stranger who accidentally touched her heart. Luna's determination to get all up-close and personal with Finn could drive Steffy to say, 'See ya!' She's done it before, after all. When the going gets too rough, she gets going, if only to regroup and come back stronger than ever. (Right, Sheila?) But that would be the least dramatic of the options. Which one do you think the show will go with? Sound off in the comments below after checking out the new photo gallery below; it's a !

Trump's new attack on DEI: Erasing history or a needed shakeup?
Editor's note: Welcome to Double Take, a regular conversation from opinion writers Melinda Henneberger and David Mastio tackling news with differing perspectives and respectful debate. MELINDA: I'm calling the weekend I just spent at my Notre Dame class reunion a Mary-thon, because I got to catch up with so many Marys — Mary Virginia, Mary Ann, Mary Meg and Mary Pat, plus that outlier Kathleen Marie. But while we were closing down the dance floor, Donald Trump did not take a minute off from trying to close down free expression, distort history and put the arts in a headlock. Oh wait, did I say that wrong? A news story I read about his possibly illegal Friday firing of the director of the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery said he was 'continuing his aggressive moves to reshape the federal government's cultural institutions.' You say 'reshape,' I say 'deform.' Art that is told what to be and do isn't art anymore. DAVID: I spent some time recently in Omaha's fabulous art museum, the Joslyn. Like the Smithsonian museums, it is free and a place of beauty and inspiration. At the same time, if you spend any of your visit reading the descriptions of the works, the monotony of the standard-issue Marxism from the artists is tedious. I've felt the same from the National Portrait Gallery and other Smithsonian art museums. It wouldn't hurt them to have some fresh blood from outside the usual suspects. MELINDA: Fresh blood? Trump said Kim Sajet is out as director of the Portrait Gallery because she's a 'highly partisan person, and a strong supporter of DEI, which is totally inappropriate for her position.' An inappropriately partisan person is just someone who doesn't agree with him. I mean, would he ever throw out one of his own supporters on that basis? On the contrary, he makes no secret of filling positions based not on expertise but on loyalty to him and on the way they look on television. And isn't DEI just fairness by another name? This president has got things so upside down that any job not held by a white man is now assumed to be held by a know-nothing 'DEI hire,' instead of by someone who had to work even harder to get where he or she is. DAVID: No, DEI is not the same as fairness or equality. It is right there in the name 'diversity, equity and inclusion.' Equity is the idea that people shouldn't be treated equally because they are not equal. It is the very opposite of the imperfectly achieved American creed that so many fought to finally make a reality in the 1950s, '60s and '70s. Today, more than 90% of Americans agree on 'equal opportunity.' DEI tears down that hard-won consensus and replaces it with a raw racial spoils system and identity politics. Equity will never enjoy that kind of support. MELINDA: Look, the college friends I was just with and love so much are mostly white Catholic girls who are grandmas now. But we are keenly aware not only of all we were so lucky to have had, but of what a lack of diversity in our classrooms cost not just those who weren't there but us, too. Sajet is out because she once told The New York Times that the portraits in the gallery mostly represent 'the wealthy, the pale and the male.' I would not have put it that way, but no one can say it isn't true. Why not include more portraits of those who should have been there all along but were overlooked? And do you really agree with Trump that museums are hotbeds of anti-American propaganda? A confident country is not afraid to tell its whole story. Knowing more will not make us fall apart, and concealing unpretty parts of the past is what authoritarians do. Though if he succeeds, this current moment will certainly wind up as a blank page. The reason people flock to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture is that a lot of us know that what we learned about that history in school was subpar, to put it generously, and we are eager to change that. Unless this administration really is driven by racial animus, what's the problem? DAVID: The DEI-mania in the years since the murder of George Floyd may have sometimes brought needed attention to the darker parts of our history, but more often than not it has turned into fact-free America hatred. The bits of The 1619 Project that turn up in the Smithsonian's generally wonderful Museum of African-American History are particularly rancid. No, modern policing was not borne of the need to recapture escaped slaves. Policing has a history that goes back thousands of years across many cultures. No, American capitalism is not rooted in slavery. The most economically advanced parts of America rejected slavery first. No, the Revolutionary War was not fought to keep British abolitionists at bay. MELINDA: I'd hardly call it a mania, and there have been more police shootings every year since Floyd's murder. You'd rather fact-check the 1619 Project than talk about Trump's determination to stoke white grievance — white genocide, really? You are right about those 1619 errors, which did a lot of damage. Only Trump isn't trying to correct, but to obliterate. Just like DOGE preferred counterproductive mass firings to the more targeted trims that everyone could have supported. And fact-free American hatred, huh-uh. I love this country, which is why a year ago right now I was in Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, as proud of all of those veterans who saved the world from the Nazis, and especially of our local recipient of the French Legion of Honor Medal — France's highest honor, civil or military — as I could have been without having my heart burst out of my chest. I also love our people who come from everywhere, and who look and think differently from me, too. Unlike the president, who on every holiday posts pretty much the identical festive message about what scum half of all Americans are. I just want us to tell our whole story, like you'd want for the health of your family. To airbrush is to propagandize, and what does that get us? What's so scary about a museum director trying to make the portraits hanging in our national portrait gallery better represent the whole American story? I can't wait to see what kind of 'improper ideology' JD Vance will uncover at the National Zoo, as he's supposed to be doing across all of the Smithsonian. Maybe he will find that the new pandas or some other immigrant animals are up to no good. DAVID: I love the National Zoo, but it is not the place to go if you want to learn the nuances of environmental policy. You don't get delicate shades of green — you get hit with a moss sledgehammer. We might agree that Trump is not going to add subtlety, but the place is in need of a shakeup. The Smithsonian doesn't do nuance well, but nuance is what we need to showcase our common humanity and common problems. You are right that there have been more police shootings since Floyd's death, but it might be wise to dwell on the fact that every year police kill more unarmed white people than Black people. The police killings are best addressed in ways that bring us together as equality already does. The DEI approach of only looking at Black killings leaves us divided. MELINDA: I took my kids to that zoo all the time and noticed very little environmental policy, nuanced or otherwise, but then I was just trying to keep my son from jumping in with the cheetahs. You'd expect police shootings to kill more white than Black people since the latter make up only about 15% of the population. Trump's DOJ is not even going to look at police misconduct, which is a good way to get more of what you have decided not to see. But it isn't only the abuse of Black people that he wants to ignore. He also mothballed a federal database tracking all misconduct by federal law enforcement officers. How turning a blind eye to wrongdoing might bring us together I don't know. That's never been his goal. And this Portrait Gallery director's firing is only one example of this administration's non-stop efforts to disappear all but MAGA-approved history. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth just ordered the Navy to review the names of vessels honoring civil rights icons, starting with assassinated San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk, a Navy vet himself, and one of the country's first openly gay elected officials. Happy Pride Month! Others on the list include Thurgood Marshall, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Harriet Tubman, Medgar Evers, Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. You can call all of this anti-DEI, or you can hear Trump raving about 'dead white farmers' in South Africa and realize that the man's racial views, and our willingness to accept them, are exactly what 1619 was talking about. When only the pale and the male and the straight are acceptable, then that's in-your-face white supremacy. When Trump replaced those who ran the Smithsonian's Kennedy Center, which he sometimes mistakenly calls the Lincoln Center — I sense a cognitive cover-up in the making here — they were replaced by folks who were not at all partisan. You know, because the new KenCen board he put in place had the nonpartisan good taste to immediately elect Trump as chairman. After installing himself to run this cultural gem, he according to The New York Times told his new team that as a kid, he could pick out notes on a piano and impressed someone his father had hired to assess his potential strengths with his inate musicality. 'I have a high aptitude for music. Can you believe that?' Yes! White House communications director Steven Cheung answered a question about this revelation by calling his boss a 'virtuoso' whose musical choices 'represent a brilliant palette of vibrant colors when others often paint in pale pastels.' Sadly, the president said, he was never encouraged to develop his talent. But I say it's never too late to pursue a gift like that on a full-time basis. C'mon, Juilliard, help us out here. DAVID: If you keep talking Trump, all we're going to do is agree. Let me just say this: As offensive as the blatherings of the sycophants around Trump obviously are, so is the uniform liberalism of the Smithsonian. It paints America through red-colored glasses when there are so many other colors to see. A few years of Trumpy chaos might just inject some needed diversity of thinking to the place. That's part of DEI, too, right?
