India Today27-06-2025
Former First Lady Michelle Obama jokingly responded to constant rumours surrounding her marriage to Barack Obama, blaming their lack of social presence. In an interview on NPR's Wild Card podcast with Rachel Martin, Michelle commented that the couple just doesn't feel the urge to always post about their relationship on social media.'The fact that people don't see me going on dates with my husband sparks rumours of the end of our marriage,' she said. We're 60, y'all. We're not going to Instagram every minute of our lives.'advertisement
SKIPPING EVENTS WAS A CONSCIOUS CHOICE Michelle also spoke about her absence from a number of high-profile events, including President Donald Trump's inauguration and the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter. Admitting that her choice raised questions, she said it was an intentional act of self-prioritization."One of the big choices I made this year was to just stay home and not go to funerals and inaugurations and all that stuff I'm supposed to go to," she said. "That was me exercising my ambition in what I want to do beyond what's prescribed for me. And I have to claim it."The ex-president's wife owned up to the fact of not showing up for some formal events. "Whatever backlash there was, I had to sit with it and claim it. But I didn't regret it. It's my life now, and I can say that," she continued.advertisementMichelle also stressed that just because she and her husband are not always visible to the public eye that does not mean they have lost their connection. She had already addressed such rumours in her podcast The Light Podcast, co-hosted by her brother Craig Robinson, and emphasised that their privacy is deliberate. Her remarks put to rest months of speculation and reinforced that the Obamas remain united.- EndsMust Watch

Rupali Ganguly reacts to top court order: Care for stray dogs, don't exile them

'Anupamaa' star Rupali Ganguly has reacted to the Supreme Court's directive for the removal of stray dogs from Delhi and Delhi NCR to shelters. The directives were issued in an effort to address increasing dog bite incidents and the spread of rabies. Rupali Ganguly, a popular television actor, responded with a plea to reconsider the approach towards stray dogs. Reacting to the Supreme Court order, she wrote on X, "In our traditions, dogs guard Bhairav Baba's temple and are fed on Amavasya for blessings. They've grown up on our streets, guarding shops, waiting outside our doors, barking away thieves."advertisementGanguly also expressed concerns about the impact of removing these animals from their usual habitats. She said, "If we remove them now, we risk losing our protectors before the real dangers arrive, like silencing an alarm before a fire. Sending them to far-off shelters isn't kindness, it's exile." The actor further added, "Stray dogs aren't outsiders; they're part of our faith, our culture, our safety. Care for them, vaccinate them, feed them and let them live where they belong."The Supreme Court on Monday directed civic authorities in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) to immediately catch and sterilise stray dogs and relocate them permanently to shelters. In a stern directive, the court said the order must be implemented without top court specified that if any individual or organisation opposed the process, it would proceed to take action against any such resistance, noting that immediate steps are necessary to address the menace of dog bites leading to rabies.- EndsTune InMust Watch
