The 10 Best Resorts in Central America of 2025
How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Costa Rica
20 Best Things to Do in Belize The Casona con Piscina guest room at Hacienda AltaGracia.
Auberge Resorts Collection
No matter where in Central America they traveled, T+L readers sought out resorts that champion nature and wellness. All three properties in Belize are well-positioned for guests who want a luxe home base for snorkeling or diving excursions to the country's renowned barrier reef. The highest ranked—No. 6 Matachica Resort & Spa—is nestled on Ambergris Caye, which T+L readers consistently vote as one of their favorite islands in Mexico and Central and South America. When guests aren't lounging in the hammock of their thatched-roof casita or villa, they're likely sipping cocktails and basking in sea views at Danny's Tree Bar or out on the water. Snorkel gear and kayaks are complimentary, and a section of the reef is just offshore. The resort can also arrange a boating excursion to snorkel or dive in Hol Chan Marine Reserve, where more than 150 fish species and roughly 40 types of coral are thriving.
Half the honorees on this year's list (including this year's No. 1) are located in Costa Rica, which was T+L's 2024 Destination of the Year. Whether they're in the surf hub of Nosara (No. 5 Tierra Magnifica Boutique Hotel) or the cloud forests of Monteverde (No. 3 Hotel Belmar), each one embodies the sentiment of pura vida , with a reverence for nature and some of the warmest hospitality you'll encounter throughout the world. Astute readers will notice this year's list marks the end of Nayara Tented Camp's four-year winning streak. Though it slips to No. 2, WBA voters raved about their stays at the secluded glamping resort set against the backdrop of Arenal volcano. 'Unforgettable experience and memories from this place,' shares one guest. 'We were truly blown away by the service, the views, the location, food, and everything.' Another person thought the staff was particularly impressive, writing that they've 'been to several high end hotels in the world, and by far, this hotel has the best trained and knowledgeable staff.'
Hacienda AltaGracia, Auberge Resorts Collection: Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica Casa Grande, a two-bedroom guest room at Hacienda AltaGracia.
Auberge Resorts Collection
Tucked into the verdant foothills of Costa Rica's Talamanca Mountains, this 50-casita hideaway centers the guest experience on immersive adventure, cultural discovery, and soul-centering wellness. The property's 180 acres encompass a coffee farm, horse stables, an organic culinary garden, and a holistic spa. Active adventures include zip-lining through the jungle, scaling giant ficus trees, or venturing out into the pitch-black night to search for nocturnal animals with a wildlife guide. For fun that's equally invigorating but lower adrenaline, there's a variety of culinary options, including a hands-on Tico baking class, cocktail workshops, and visits to family-owned farms nearby. Casa de Agua offers a range of signature treatments that incorporate Central American wellness practices, as well as Eastern modalities like Reiki. As T+L readers will attest, no matter how guests choose to spend their time, they'll find a restorative experience worth flying for.

Four Seasons Hotel Osaka Raises The Bar For Luxury In The City
Tatami Corner Suite Photo: Ken Seet / Courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Osaka Osaka has long been touted as a go-to destination for food and nightlife. And with two international airports and its proximity to Kyoto, the city is one of the most popular destinations amongst visitors to Japan. Now, for hotel enthusiasts and luxury travelers, there's even more of a reason to stay a night or two in the vibrant city thanks to Four Seasons Hotel Osaka. Admittedly, Osaka's luxury hotel scene has long been stagnant. But things began to shift this past year, with Four Seasons leading the charge. Opened last August, this property marks the brand's fourth in Japan (two can be found in Tokyo, another in Kyoto), cementing its presence in the country's triumvirate of most-visited cities. The entrance Photo: Ken Seet / Courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Osaka Located in Dojima district, Four Seasons Hotel Osaka is just a stone's throw away from Umeda Station. Once you step into the sleek, sailboat-inspired building (a nod to the city's nautical heritage), you're greeted by friendly staff, a soothing water feature, and neutral interiors that are a welcomed contrast to the bustling city's frenetic energy and bright neon lights. While you'll still find some action on the first floor thanks to the all-day bistro and a grab-and-go counter with coffee and freshly baked treats, things slow down much more as you navigate the rest of the property. Deluxe King Room Photo: Ken Seet / Courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Osaka Like the lobby, the 175 accommodations are a pleasant respite. Similarly decorated in beige hues and a combination of light and dark woods, they're meant to ease the mind and reflect the country's general approach to minimalistic decor. Majority of the rooms are more Western in nature, with subtle Japanese touches in the form of shoji-influenced blinds and locally crafted teaware. But for those seeking a greater sense of place, the hotel also offers ryokan -inspired rooms that beautifully blend traditional Japanese archetypes with modern conveniences. Tatami Premier Corner Suite Photo: Ken Seet / Courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Osaka Located on what is dubbed the Gensui floor, it's only accessible to guests staying in one of the 21 ryokan -like accommodations. The dimly lit corridors set a moody tone for this 'if you know, you know' space. This partly translates to the contemporary digs' bathrooms, where you'll find dark stone and marble, a stark contrast to the rest of the room's light interiors with tatami mat floors and white futon bedding, made all the more brighter thanks to large picture windows that offer up panoramic views of the cityscape. Arguably the best part of booking one of these coveted rooms, though, is exclusive access to Sabo. Modeled after a ryokan tea lounge, this is where Gensui guests check in, enjoy a welcome matcha, savor complimentary local snacks and tea throughout the day, and sip on sake and Japanese spirits in the evenings. Once morning comes around, slip into your yukata and savor a traditional Japanese breakfast. The 52-foot indoor pool Photo: Ken Seet / Courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Osaka For the ultimate relaxation, the full-service spa offers a variety of treatments that include massages, facials, scrubs, and more. And you'll want to carve some time out for the facilities, which include a sauna and both public and private ofuro (Japanese baths). Prefer to stretch your limbs with a few laps? Fret not, there's also a 52-foot indoor infinity pool, with jaw-dropping views of the city to boot. Bar Bota Photo: Ken Seet / Courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Osaka And while there are certainly plenty of places to eat in Osaka, the hotel's two fine-dining restaurants are worth the visit. For a unique omakase experience, Sushi L'Abysse Osaka is unlike anything you'll find in the country. A concept by Yannick Alléno, the celebrated chef marries haute French fare with the artistry of sushi chef Yasuda Itaru for a one-of-a-kind menu that celebrates both cuisines in unexpected ways. But if you want to switch things up, Jiang Nan Chun dishes out some of the best Cantonese food in the country thanks to the incredibly talented Hong Kong–born chef Raymond Wong Wai Man. Just don't forget to grab a drink at Bar Bota, where inventive cocktails bear names like Tomato & Cheese, Hinoki & Shiitake, and Sakura & Calamansi. Plus, they have a wide range of Japanese whiskies, naturally, and uninterrupted views of the city.

Women Who Travel Podcast: The Allure of European Night Trains
Sponsored By Get Your Guide. You can listen to our podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify each week. Follow this link if you're listening on Apple News. The idea of train travel commands an immediate allure, and come nighttime, that intrigue is only dialed up. Our guest this week is award-winning travel writer and journalist Monisha Rajesh, whose new book Moonlight Express: Around the World By Night Train chases dusk across Europe's most legendary railways, from Austria's Nightjet to the Scotland's Caledonian Sleeper. Lale chats with Rajesh about the endearing nostalgia of train travel, the reality of riding the Orient Express, and her favorite mementos gathered from globe-trotting by track. Lale Arikoglu: Hi there. I'm Lale Arikoglu, and I am so happy this week to have one of our favorite returning guests on Women Who Travel. She's journalist and award-winning travel writer, Monisha Rajesh, who was on Women Who Travel's Power List in the past, she is a regular contributor to Conde Nast Traveler, and her new book is about night train trips across Europe, the magic and the mayhem. It is lovely to have you back on the podcast. You are our go-to woman about train travel, I'm going to say in the simplest plainest terms. You have a new book coming out later this year in November, correct? Monisha Rajesh: Yes, I have. Yes. LA: Called Moonlight Express: Around the World by Night Train, a mode of transport that I love and romanticize. In that book, you say you've traveled on over 200 train journeys for over 15 years. That's an unbelievable amount of trains. What's the reason for this I was going to say a passion, but it really seems a little bit more of an obsession?

Travel Just Got Cheaper—Here's How To Stretch Your Savings With The Right Credit Cards
Editorial Note: We earn a commission from partner links on Forbes Advisor. Commissions do not affect our editors' opinions or evaluations. After months of stubborn prices, airfares and lodging rates finally dropped in June 2025. This opens the door for travelers to book getaways at a discount and squeeze even more value out of their travel rewards credit cards. Travel prices are finally coming down, making it a smart time to take advantage and book a trip. In June, the U.S. lodging away from home index dropped 2.9%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The airline fare index also dipped 0.1%, marking the third straight month of declines. If you've been thinking about a summer trip, now's the time to go for it. With cheaper flights and lodging deals popping up, a family vacation might not hit your wallet as hard. And if you use a solid travel rewards credit card , you can save even more while earning points toward your next getaway. Travel isn't becoming free overnight, but your daily spending can still take you places in the near future. Travel rewards credit cards allow you to earn points on daily spending, which you can later redeem for flights, hotel stays and other travel perks. For example, the American Express® Gold Card (Terms apply, rates & fees) earns elevated points on flights booked directly with airlines and on prepaid hotels booked through Amex Travel. Plus, when you book two or more nights through The Hotel Collection, you'll receive a $100 credit toward eligible purchases like dining or spa services. Eligible charges vary by property. You may be eligible for as high as 100,000 Membership Rewards® Points after spending $6,000 in eligible purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Membership. Welcome offers vary and you may not be eligible for an offer. Credit Score ranges are based on FICO® credit scoring. This is just one scoring method and a credit card issuer may use another method when considering your application. These are provided as guidelines only and approval is not guaranteed. On top of its travel perks , the American Express® Gold Card earns 4 Membership Rewards® points per dollar at restaurants worldwide (on up to $50,000 in purchases per calendar year, then 1 point per dollar), 4 Membership Rewards® points per dollar at US supermarkets (on up to $25,000 in purchases per calendar year, then 1 point per dollar), 3 Membership Rewards® points per dollar on flights booked directly with airlines or on American Express Travel, 2 Membership Rewards® points per dollar on prepaid hotels and other eligible purchases booked on American Express Travel and 1 point per dollar on all other eligible purchases. That means you can accumulate rewards just by doing your weekly grocery shopping—rewards you can later use toward flights, hotels and more. Frequent travelers may want to consider credit cards that offer airport lounge access , which offer them a place to rest and enjoy some peace before takeoff. For example, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® grants cardholders: Entry to Priority Pass lounges for you and up to two guests at locations worldwide. Entry to Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club locations, available in airports like Boston (BOS), New York (JFK and LGA), Philadelphia (PHL), San Diego (SAN) and Phoenix (PHX). Amenities that vary by location, such as: Full meals and drinks. Comfortable seats. Quiet spaces for work and rest. The Chase Sapphire Reserve® affords a luxurious travel experience. Whether you're resting before a business trip or getting a nap in before a long vacation, you and your guests can access comfortable, well-designed spaces worldwide. June brought some welcome relief for travelers—lodging rates plunged by roughly 2.9%, and airfares dipped slightly by 0.1%. Whether you're planning a summer getaway or looking ahead to fall travel, now's a strong window to act. You can make the most of these lower prices by pairing them with the right credit cards, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or the American Express® Gold Card. These cards provide value through rewards on everyday spending, credits toward dining and travel and built-in trip protections and insurance¹. To view rates and fees for the American Express® Gold Card please visit this page. ¹Eligibility and Benefit level varies by Card. Terms, Conditions and Limitations Apply.
