Julia Garner, Anthony Boyle to star in Netflix's 'The Altruists'

May 30 (UPI) -- Ozark alum Julia Garner and Manhunt actor Anthony Boyle have signed on to star in Netflix's limited series, The Altruists.
Garner will play Caroline Ellison and Boyle will portray Sam Bankman-Fried in the fact-based drama.
"Two hyper-smart young idealists try to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye... only to seduce each other into stealing $8 billion," the streaming service said.
James Ponsoldt -- whose credits include Shrinking and The Spectacular Now -- is to direct and executive produce the first episode.
Ellison was sentenced in 2024 to two years in prison after she became a key government witness legal proceedings related to the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
Bankman-Fried is serving a 25-year prison sentence for various financial fraud crimes.

The plot for Stranger Things Season 5 remains tightly under wraps, but the next chapter will pick up after the explosive Season 4, Part 2 finale, where the Hawkins crew tried to take down Vecna for good. Max volunteered to serve as bait to lure Vecna in, while Eleven used a sensory deprivation tank to enter Max's mind and confront Vecna directly. After Vecna killed Max, triggering the opening of the fourth gate, Eleven used her powers to revive her, although Max remained in a coma. In one of the most heartbreaking moments from 'Chapter Nine: The Piggyback,' Eddie Munson sacrificed himself to distract the demobats and protect his friends. Though severely injured, Vecna managed to escape. In the final moments, Hawkins is left in ruins, with the barrier between the real world and the Upside Down rendered nonexistent. Matt and Ross Duffer told Deadline in 2023 that their goal for Season 5 is to 'stick the landing.' Ricky Gervais gets star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
May 31 (UPI) -- Actor, comedian, filmmaker and legendary Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "Lovely day. Got a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame, had lunch with some of my oldest friends, and just washed my shorts in the shower," Gervais posted Friday on X after the event, along with a photo of the aforementioned apparel drying in the sun on a hotel terrace. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos and writer-director-actor Christopher Guest were on hand at the dedication ceremony and paid tribute to the star and creator of The Office, Extras, Derek and After Life. "The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honored to welcome comedian Ricky Gervais to the Hollywood Walk of Fame," Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer, said in a press release. "Finally, a star that will give snarky commentary every time someone walks by... I always knew we needed a comedian's touch on our famed sidewalk!" Gervais is scheduled to perform at the famed Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night.
