Roger Vivier Collaborates With Maison Lesage for Pièce Unique
In collaboration with long-standing house partner Maison Lesage, with which he worked to develop the eight bags and two gilets in the collection this season, he was able to tap the storied embroidery specialist's back catalog for inspiration, as well as its archive of materials and components, making each precious design all the more unique. 'All of these stones don't exist anymore on the market,' Felloni enthused during a presentation. 'For Pièce Unique, they opened the archive and said you can use any quantities that we have.'

Felloni bounced off the leitmotif of his main line for fall, the rose, which Roger Vivier was the first footwear designer to take from a couture hat and put on shoes in the 1940s before making it a recurring motif in his designs. A multitude of complex techniques came into play thanks to Lesage's expertise and both companies' archives, with each piece inspired by a specific design from the past and crafted by hand in Italy and France, with Lesage's artisans embroidering directly onto the bags themselves.
The tiny, folded and pleated silk organza blossoms stitched onto a background of lilac silk were in reference to a hat in the Lesage archive. Hand-beaded, gold-threaded iterations on green velvet for La Vertueuse came from a vintage cape.
On La Passionnée, blossoms were draped and sculpted by hand from silk mousseline or hand-embroidered with tiny beads. L'Ephemere, inspired by a dress in the Lesage archives and developed as both bag and gilet, featured pale colors evoking the fading of time and a combination of silk, muslin and wire embroideries and twists, hand-painted and overlaid with delicate strands of feathers. On La Tendre, hundreds of coral-colored glass beads from the '60s shivered.
The buckles and handles for each piece were also crafted by hand and set with semiprecious stones including onyx, citrine and amethyst.

Ariana Madix's Ocean-inspired Hair Makes Waves on ‘Love Island USA' Season Seven Finale
'Love Island USA' host Ariana Madix bid the seventh season of the reality dating show adieu with a hairstyle inspired by the Fijian ocean. Styled by hair architect Carl Bembridge, Madix's long, dirty blond tresses mimicked the delicate, ethereal movement of the water with drawn-out mermaid waves and a fishtail crown. The fishtail embellishment crept around the top of her head and behind her ears like a headband; the ends were pinned under the body of her hair. Her extensions brushed her torso, falling just above her belly button. The elongated look was a far cry from the short, straightened style — also designed by Bembridge — that she sported the last time she entered the villa on July 7, as well as her half up, half down, slicked-back bob she wore during episode 27 on July 2. Last year's finale, however, saw Madix don a similar hairstyle, comprised of three braided buns woven together on the top of her head with flat-ironed extensions protruding out. Since then, the two have collaborated to create a variety of trendy and timeless hairdos with enough female prowess to shock the islanders every time she stepped foot inside their sumptuous living quarters. Earlier in the season, Bembridge teased his plans for Madix's final look. He told WWD: 'Me being me, I'm naturally building up to a wow finale. I've got two amazing ideas for that, and I can't decide between them. I honestly wish I could do both in one night. If I had my way, I would.' Bembridge also noted that he and Madix weren't as timid this year compared to last season. 'The difference this year is that I now know there are no limits and what I love most is creating a wow factor,' Bhe said. 'I'm always thinking, 'What can I do next now that that's ticked off the list?'' Sunday night's finale saw fan-favorite Amaya Espinal and her partner, Bryan Arenales, win the first place prize of $100,000. For the big reveal, Espinal opted for spider leg lash clusters and a slicked-back, side-parted bun. Other islanders in the final four couples included runners-up Olandria Carthen and Nicolas Vansteenberghe, Huda Mustafa and Chris Seeley and Iris Kendall and Jose Garcia-Gonzalez, nicknamed 'Pepe.' Julia Garner embraced method dressing with Thom Browne for 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' event in London on Thursday. The Emmy Award-winning actress, who plays the Silver Surfer in the forthcoming superhero film, wore a shimmering, metallic silver dress from the brand, featuring a peekaboo bra layering effect. Garner's look came courtesy of Thom Browne's spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection, which debuted as part of New York Fashion Week in September 2016. The dress featured an asymmetrical silhouette, with a formfitting bodice and one long sleeve. The skirt of the dress flowed down in a column shape. Thom Brown took inspiration from Slim Aarons and David Hockney for his spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection, notable for capturing images and the aesthetic appeal of poolside luxury, per Bridget Foley's WWD review of the collection. 'The clothes proved perfect for this midsummer's day dream sequence. They weren't suits and separates at all, but one-piece dresses elaborately conceived and executed to trick the eye,' Foley wrote. 'They utilized every tailoring and dressmaker technique imaginable to stitch together pretend multipiece outfits that riffed on just about every polished, upper-crust sartorial trope imaginable.' Garner regularly collaborates with stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, who dressed the actress during her time at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Her hair was coiffed by Bobby Eliot with makeup by Zoë Taylor. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' follows the titular heroes, played by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, as they defend Earth from Galactus and the Silver Surfer, played by Garner. The film hits theaters July 25.
