Bristol dog attack: Tributes paid to 'kind' teen killed in suspected XL bully attack
Tributes have been paid to a "beautiful and kind" teenager who was killed in a suspected XL bully attack. Morgan Dorsett, 19, from Shropshire, died at about 19:00 GMT on 26 February at a flat on Cobhorn Drive, south Bristol.A fundraiser to help cover funeral costs has amassed £6,500 in three days, its organiser Sharon Harris said: "Morgan was a truly beautiful girl. She was strong, kind and so full of life."Ms Dorsett's former head teacher also issued a tribute, describing her as a "very kind and thoughtful person".
Pete Lowe-Werrell, head teacher at Mary Webb School in Pontesbury, near Shrewsbury, said: "Our thoughts are with Morgan's family and friends at this tremendously difficult time. "We remember Morgan as very kind and thoughtful person who had a bright future ahead of her." Ms Harris added that the money will also be spent on allowing "the family time to grieve by covering essential bills while they take time from work".
A man and woman, both in their 20s, have been released on conditional bail after they were arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death and possession of a prohibited breed of dog.Police confirmed following the incident that the dog had been sedated at the scene and later destroyed. Work is ongoing to confirm the breed of the dog, but initial reports suggested it was an XL bully.
At a press conference on Thursday, Insp Terry Murphy, from Avon and Somerset Police, described the incident as "incredibly rare" and said a full investigation "to establish the full circumstances" was underway.

Astonishing video footage has emerged showing a hitman discharging a firearm at residences amidst a fierce gangland dispute. Kieran Morgan, 30, was filmed brandishing a sawn-off double-barrelled shotgun and firing it in broad daylight, as well as during the early hours in another horrifying assault. In a third incident, he discharged a shotgun in a bustling takeaway, all within a matter of weeks. The orchestrator of these attacks was Zaki Shazad, 22, who was acting on behalf of unidentified higher-ranking figures in the underworld, Minshull Street Crown Court was informed. The judge remarked that the shootings bore 'all the hallmarks of a dispute between serious organised criminals'. Remarkably, no one was injured in any of the incidents, which took place in March and April 2023. Morgan has now been handed an 18-year prison sentence, while Shazad has been sentenced to 16 years behind bars, reports the Manchester Evening News. The initial shooting occurred on March 12 on Doric Avenue in Heald Green, Stockport. Morgan, accompanied by another man and clad in a mask and dark attire, approached a house and fired a shotgun at it. He then lobbed a homemade explosive device towards the property, but it rebounded off a wall. Morgan retrieved it and threw it again at a higher angle, causing it to detonate like a firework. Greater Manchester Police later confirmed through forensic testing that the device contained hydrochloric acid. Morgan subsequently made his escape from the scene in a Mercedes. The second shooting occurred in broad daylight on Wilmslow Road in Heald Green on April 21, as a family, including a child, were preparing their car for Eid festivities. Morgan arrived at the scene in the afternoon carrying a hold-all bag that contained the shotgun. Donning a face mask, he fired shots towards the property. Although no one was injured, the house sustained damage. The third incident unfolded at the Drip burger bar on Kingsway nine days later, on April 30. Morgan entered the restaurant and immediately discharged one shot, followed by another shortly after. One bullet struck a wall next to a TV, and the other hit the counter. Staff members were behind the counter at the time, and customers were present in the front of the restaurant. Prosecutor David Farley stated that those inside were 'clearly and understandably terrified'. Morgan made his escape on a bicycle. Shazad was identified as the 'organiser' of the shootings. Snapchat messages exchanged between the pair revealed that Morgan was to receive £1,000 from Shazad for the 'jobs'. Shazad, of Ranford Road, Levenshulme, was convicted of conspiring to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life. Morgan, of Petworth Avenue, Chadderton, admitted to the same offence. Police announced that the three shootings were connected following receipt of intelligence. They scrutinised CCTV footage which aided in identifying Morgan, who was spotted wearing a Canada Goose jacket. He subsequently posted a photo of himself on social media donning the same jacket. His face was also captured on CCTV footage after he removed his balaclava. Additionally, Shazad received a sentence for attempting to smuggle cannabis to a relative in HMP Berwyn, North Wales. He pleaded guilty to conveying a List A item into prison and possessing cannabis. Defending Morgan, Keith Harrison stated that the defendant has struggled with "recurring mental health problems". David Bentley, representing Shazad, claimed that his client was involved in assisting Morgan but was not the mastermind. Following the hearing, Detective Inspector Lee Newburn of GMP commented: "Violence, particularly this kind of revenge violence, will not be tolerated on the streets of Manchester. We have seen two dangerous individuals locked up for their parts in a number of firearms discharges targeting properties where innocent people were present. "It is miraculous that no-one was seriously injured during these firearms discharges, but they could very easily have been. One of the victims of these shootings has described to me how scared she now is to go out in public and just how shaken she is about what happened. Nobody should be made to feel like this. "We continue to work very closely with the communities in and around Greater Manchester to ensure that we protect them from this kind of violence, and we are grateful for the intelligence that we receive from them in relation to illegal activity on a daily basis. "We also work closely with the Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), which is a multi-agency team we are part of, and we seek to prevent violence from occurring by addressing underlying issues and educating those who may be at risk of re-offending. "We do this by providing valuable input in prevention work that our partners are carrying out on an ongoing basis, working behind the scenes to manage serious incidents before they occur. A hitman was to be paid £1,000 a time for carrying out gangland gun attacks on properties linked to his paymasters' rivals as a gang war exploded. Kieran Morgan, 30, acted on the orders of 22-year-old Zaki Shazad, who was said to be operating on behalf of an unidentified gangster further up the crime ladder. A sawn-off double-barrelled shotgun was fired at a house, in front of a family at a home, and at a takeaway, where customers and staff were present, Minshull Street Crown Court heard. Manchester Evening News reports Judge Jonathan Seely said: "This is appalling criminality with all the hallmarks of a dispute between serious organised criminals." The judge said it was an incident "that perhaps 10 years ago would have been unthinkable in our cities, but is increasingly a terrifying phenomenon for the citizens of our country". As he jailed Morgan for 18 years and Shazad for 16 years over the incidents, in which nobody was hurt, he said: "This is very, very serious criminality indeed." CCTV caught man firing sawn off shotgun at a house in Stockport with family just metres away
Two men have been jailed for a total of 34 years after a spate of violence across South Manchester in 2023, that included the use of a sawn off shotgun and throwing explosives at a house. One of the victims of the shootings has said she is scared to go out in public and is still shaken about what happened. Kieran Morgan, 30 of Dean Street, Failsworth, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life and received a sentence of 18 years with an extra five years on licence. Zaki Shazad, 22 of Ranford Road, Levenshulme, was sentenced to 16 years after being found guilty of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life. Extensive CCTV footage showed the two men were responsible for three shootings: 12 March 2023 at Dorac Avenue, Heald Green, Stockport. Morgan approached the address and fired shots from a shotgun before throwing a homemade firework and explosive, which was caught on the doorbell footage. Forensic testing later revealed this to be hydrochloric acid. 21 April 2023 at Wilmslow Road, Heald Green, Stockport CCTV caught Morgan being dropped off at the house, before he pulled up his hood and covered his face. A family were in the driveway of the house, including a six-year-old girl, when Morgan pulled out a sawn-off double-barrelled shotgun. Managing to take cover in a vehicle, the victims described hearing an 'explosion' as the gun went off and Morgan ran away. 30 April 2023, DRIP Burger on Wilmslow Road Morgan was seen on CCTV outside DRIP as he approached the premises, he then entered the fast food restaurant and fired towards the back of the shop and towards the counter. Police say 'miraculously' no one was injured as two customers were in the shop and one member of staff was near the counter when the shots were fired. Although these shootings happened on different days, the police investigation quickly linked them due to the information coming in. Officers trawled through extensive CCTV and ring doorbell footage in and around where the shootings had happened. They managed to create a timeline that followed the men as they made their way to and from where they used the guns. Some of this CCTV footage was used in an appeal to identify one of the men, Kieran Morgan who had been seen wearing a dark-coloured Canada Goose jacket with a light, fur-lined hood. This is a detail that would later identify him, as he posted a picture of himself to social media, wearing the same jacket. He also removed his balaclava after one shooting, which was then picked up by CCTV from a nearby house clearly showing his face. Specialist officers also analysed cell site data, which positively placed the two defendants in the areas of the shootings, just moments before they occurred. On the morning of Wednesday 21 June 2023, warrants were executed at addresses linked to Kieran Morgan, who was subsequently arrested and charged. Snapchat messages analysed from his phone following arrests showed communication with Zaki Shazad discussing proposed 'jobs', including the attack on DRIP Burger. On Monday 7 August 2023, another warrant was executed at the homes of Shazad, who was also arrested and charged. Detective Inspector Lee Newburn from Greater Manchester Police said: 'Violence, particularly this kind of revenge violence, will not be tolerated on the streets of Manchester. Two dangerous individuals have now been locked up for their parts in a number of firearms discharges targeting properties where innocent people were present." 'It is miraculous that no-one was seriously injured during these firearms discharges, but they could very easily have been." The men were sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on 9 June 2025.
