Eid Al Adha 2025: Dubai's RTA announces service hours during holiday

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the operating hours for all its services during the Eid Al Adha holiday for the Hijri year 1446H (2025). The timings apply to Customer Happiness Centres, public transport, paid parking zones, marine services, and technical testing centres.

Customer Happiness Centres
All Customer Happiness Centres will remain closed during the Eid Al Adha break. However, Smart Customer Happiness Centres at Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, and the RTA Head Office will continue to operate 24/7.
Technical testing centres
Service provider centres offering technical testing will be closed from June 5 to 7 2025.
Technical testing services will resume at select centres—Tasjeel Al Tawar, AutoPro Al Mankhool, Tasjeel Al Awir, Al Yalayis, and Shamil Muhaisnah—on Sunday, June 8.
All services, including transaction processing, will resume across all centres on Monday, June 9, 2025, as per regular working hours.
Dubai Metro
Metro stations on both the Red and Green Lines will operate from Wednesday, June 4 to Saturday, June 7 2025, between 5:00am and 1:00am the following day.
Dubai Tram
Tram services will run from 6:00am to 1:00am (next day) from June 4 to 7, 2025.
Public Buses (Dubai Bus)
Holiday bus schedules will be available on the S'hail app.
Note:
Route E100 will be suspended from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station between June 4 and 8.
Commuters can use E101 from Ibn Battuta Bus Station to Abu Dhabi.
Route E102 will run directly from Al Jafiliya Bus Station to Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, bypassing Ibn Battuta and Musaffah.
Marine Transport
Marine transport service schedules can be accessed via the
Public parking
Parking will be free across public zones from June 5 to 8 2025. This excludes multi-level parking terminals, where normal charges will apply.

US vetoes UN Security Council resolution demanding full humanitarian access to Gaza
The US vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on Wednesday demanding an 'immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire' in Gaza and full humanitarian access, as aid groups warn of famine-like conditions in the enclave after months of war. The resolution received 14 votes in favour, with only the US opposing it. The draft resolution, proposed by the 10 non-permanent council members, also urged the 'immediate lifting of all restrictions' on humanitarian aid into Gaza, ensuring safe and large-scale distribution throughout the besieged enclave. Washington's veto blocked the measure, which required at least nine "yes" votes and no vetoes from the five permanent members – the US, Russia, China, Britain or France – to pass. The veto is the first by Washington since US President Donald Trump took office in January. And it's the fifth draft resolution on the Gaza war vetoed by the US since the conflict started in October 2023. The Security Council has struggled to act on the conflict, with previous ceasefire attempts also failing. 'US opposition to this resolution should come as no surprise,' acting US Charge D'Affaires Dorothy Shea told Council members. 'It is unacceptable for what it does say. it is unacceptable for what it does not say, and it is unacceptable for the manner in which it has been advanced." She stressed that the United States has been clear that it would not support 'any measure that fails to condemn Hamas and does not call for Hamas to disarm and leave Gaza." "We cannot allow the Security Council to reward Hamas is intransigence,' she added. The text, drafted by Slovenia alongside Algeria and Guyana, repeated the council's demand for the 'immediate, dignified and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas and other groups". 'It was never our intention to provoke a veto,' Slovenia's ambassador to the UN, Samuel Zbogar, told council members. 'We were aware of different positions inside the council. This is why the draft resolution had only one focus, a humanitarian one." Mr Zbogar called on the council to 'unite around this urgent demand for unimpeded humanitarian access and for food to be delivered to starving civilians'. Starving civilians and inflicting immense suffering is inhumane, he argued, and against international law. 'No war objective can justify such action,' he said. '14 votes in favour however carries a strong message. Enough of suffering of civilians. Enough of food being used as a weapon. Enough is enough is enough.' Israel has come under mounting international pressure to halt its war in Gaza, a conflict sparked by Hamas's October 7, 2023, attack on Israeli soil. Criticism has intensified over the chaotic aid distribution in Gaza, where Israel imposed a complete blockade for over two months before permitting a limited number of UN aid vehicles to enter in mid-May. The amount of aid Israel has authorised to enter Gaza amounts to 'a teaspoon', when a flood of humanitarian assistance is needed, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said last month. Meanwhile, the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) has faced backlash for allegedly violating established aid principles by coordinating relief efforts with a military party to the conflict. The war, now in its 20th month, has killed more than 54,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza authorities. The Palestinian militant group Hamas is still holding 58 hostages taken during the October 7 attacks. About a third are believed to still be alive.

UAE, Kuwait ink multiple agreements, includes Dhs9bn naval contract
Imge courtesy: WAM The UAE and Kuwait signed a series of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on Monday, aimed at deepening cooperation across strategic sectors including health, energy, education, and defence, during an official visit by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, state news agency, WAM reported. The signing ceremony, held at Bayan Palace in the presence of Sheikh Mansour and Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, underscores the two Gulf nations' intent to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties amid evolving regional dynamics. The agreements span a wide range of areas, with key MoUs covering healthcare, infrastructure, investment, social development, energy transition, and AI, as both countries pursue mutual development priorities and enhanced regional integration. UAE-Kuwait agreements signed According to the WAM report, the key deals signed cover sectors such as: Health: MoUs were signed between the UAE and Kuwait's health ministries to boost collaboration in medical services and public health policy. Education: Both countries agreed to expand cooperation in the education sector through a pact signed by their respective ministers of education. Energy and infrastructure: MoUs included commitments to collaborate in land transport, roads, oil and gas, and future energy initiatives such as water and electricity. Technology and industry: A separate agreement focused on industry and advanced technology was signed to support innovation and knowledge exchange. Humanitarian and legal affairs: Joint frameworks were agreed to address human trafficking and legal cooperation, reflecting a shared focus on rights and rule of law. Investment: The UAE's Minister of Investment and the head of Kuwait's Direct Investment Promotion Authority signed an MoU to promote bilateral investment flows. Security and data: Ministries of Interior from both sides inked an MoU on data protection and joint security information-sharing projects. AI partnership initiated, naval contract with EDGE The Kuwait Investment Authority joined the 'Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership' initiative, which includes global partners MGX, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, and Microsoft — adding regional backing to the tech-driven project. In a separate defence agreement, Kuwait's Ministry of Defence signed a contract with UAE-based EDGE Group for the procurement of several 'Falaj 3' class missile boats, highlighting deepening defence industry ties between the two states. Representing the largest naval shipbuilding export in the region and one of the highest-value naval export deals globally, the agreement positions EDGE as the prime contractor overseeing the design, construction, trials, delivery, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and In-Service Support (ISS) for the vessels. EDGE will also supply ammunition, highlighting its end-to-end defence capabilities. Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), EDGE's naval arm and the UAE's premier shipbuilder, has been appointed as the build subcontractor.
