2 adults charged after 13-year-old Washington County girl drowns in West Virginia
Ashley Shelton, 29, and Joshua Lockerbie, 34, of Weirton have been arrested and charged with one felony count of child neglect causing death and five felony counts of gross neglect of a child creating a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury, Weirton police announced.
On June 30, police said Shelton and Lockerbie took six kids ranging in age from 4 to 13 to the Ohio River to swim near the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Heavy rain throughout the day made the water levels high, and police said 13-year-old Reese Hanshaw of Burgettstown drowned after she was swept away by the current.
Police said there were no flotation devices, and both Shelton and Lockerbie knew that none of the children were strong swimmers.
Both Shelton and Lockerbie were arrested on Wednesday, arraigned and given a $150,000 bond. Both of them were incarcerated at the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville.
According to the Child's Safety Network, nearly 900 children and adolescents ages 0-19 die every year in the United States from unintentional drowning. For children ages 5-19, the network says drowning is the third leading cause of unintentional injury deaths.

Wall Street Journal banned from Trump's Scotland trip over Epstein story
The White House on Monday said it would bar Wall Street Journal reporters from the press pool covering President Donald Trump's upcoming trip to Scotland, in its latest attack on the media outlet for its recent report tying the president to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. Trump on Friday sued the Wall Street Journal's parent company, accusing the newspaper of libel after it reported that the president contributed a drawing of a naked woman as part of a bawdy birthday gift for Epstein in 2003. Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in jail in 2019 of an apparent suicide.

Bill Cosby Breaks Silence on TV Son's Shock Death
Bill Cosby has compared the shock death of his TV son Malcolm-Jamal Warner to that of his own son Ennis. Warner, 54, drowned accidentally in Costa Rica on Sunday. The actor, who played Theo Huxtable in The Cosby Show, was swimming when a current pulled him deeper into the water. Andrew Wyatt, Bill Cosby's long-term publicist, told the Daily Beast the pair had spoken only recently and that Cosby was 'devastated' by the loss. 'Bill Cosby never stopped being a father to all the kids on the show, including Malcolm,' Wyatt said. 'Mr Cosby spoke to Malcolm around three or four weeks ago, Malcolm was telling him about a show he had done in Minneapolis and what a great response he got from the audience.' Cosby, who turned 88 earlier this month, 'Wanted everyone to know Malcolm was still humanizing the world. His legacy will be how he humanized the world. He manifested so much greatness.' The tragedy also took Cosby back to the death of his only son, Ennis, who was murdered in 1997 in a failed robbery attempt. He was 27. Cosby had based the Theo Huxtable character on Ennis, including a storyline where Theo struggled with dyslexia, which mirrored Ennis' life. 'When I told him about Malcolm's death he said it reminded him of getting the call on the set of The Cosby Show in 1997 that his son Ennis had been murdered,' Wyatt said. 'Malcolm and Ennis used to play together, they were great friends, so this is obviously devastating for Mr Cosby. He is so shocked by what's happened, he's still in disbelief.' Wyatt added that The Cosby Show, 'is probably the only show in the history of television in America where the child actors didn't end up on drugs. It was a family environment.' The Cosby Show's family image was tainted after 60 women accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault, groping and rape. Cosby has always maintained his innocence. While he was convicted of sexual assault in 2018 and went to jail for two years, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the case in 2021. Warner told People in 2023, 'I know I can speak for all of the cast when I say The Cosby Show is something that we are still very proud of.' Addressing the controversy around Cosby, Warner added, 'Regardless of how some people may feel about the show now, I'm still proud of the legacy and having been a part of such an iconic show that had such a profound impact on – first and foremost, Black culture – but also American culture." As well as his acting work in shows including The Resident, Ten Days in the Valley and American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson, Warner was also a director and a musician. As a poet, he was nominated for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Warner won a Grammy in 2015 for Best Traditional R&B Performance for 'Jesus Children', his collaboration with Robert Glasper Experiment and Lalah Hathaway.

Dog the Bounty Hunter's son 'placed on psychiatric hold' after accidentally shooting his son
Dog the Bounty Hunter's stepson Gregory Zecca has been placed on psychiatric hold after the death of his son. Gregory - who is the son of the Duane 'Dog' Chapman's wife Francie Frane and her late husband - accidentally shot and killed his 13-year-old son Anthony on July 19, and has been left devastated by the tragedy. A representative for the family told TMZ that Gregory is on a 5150 psychiatric hold over concerns for his wellbeing after Anthony's death. The spokesperson noted that the decision was made because of the father's grief, not because of he feels guilty of a crime. The Collier County Sheriff's Office are conducting an investigation into what they have described as an "isolated incident". The police department told E! News in a statement on Monday (21.07.25): 'Our detectives are conducting a thorough investigation looking into all the elements of this tragic incident. 'The investigation includes statements from witnesses who were at the scene, forensic testing, subpoenas, and search warrants.' Meanwhile, the family said they are mourning "over this incomprehensible tragic accident". A rep for Dog and Francie told TMZ: "We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident, and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony." Dog - who has 13 children from previous relationships - got together with and Francie in 2020 after they both suffered the loss of a spouse. The TV star lost his wife of 13 years Beth in 2019 after a battle with cancer, while Francie's husband Bob Frane died in 2018. Francie previously told Entertainment Tonight the pair bonded over their shared grief which helped bring them together as a couple. She explained: "We understood the pain that the other one was feeling, and [in] those tough days and moments, we helped each other stand up. "We could cry with each other and talk about what we were feeling. "We were able to walk alongside each other through the pain and heartbreak, and it brought us together in this amazing way." The pair went on to marry in 2021, but Francie insisted they will never forget their lost loved ones. She added: "We're both still grieving. We're never going to leave Bob and Beth behind [or] forget about them. They'll always be a part of us."
