2026 high-three-star Pittsburgh LB Colsen Gatten commits to Duke
Duke is making its presence felt in Pittsburgh once again, as the Blue Devils received a verbal commitment from 2026 high-three-star Central Catholic High School linebacker Colsen Gatten on Wednesday.
Gatten intends to play his college football under head coach Manny Diaz, defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Jonathan Patke and the rest of the staff at Duke.

Diaz began building a relationship with Gatten when he was still the defensive coordinator at Penn State, and the Nittany Lions offered the linebacker back in June of 2023. Diaz was hired by Duke in December of 2023, and he offered Gatten a scholarship from the Blue Devils shortly after that in January of 2024.
This is the second consecutive cycle in which the Blue Devils have landed a pledge from a Pittsburgh Central Catholic linebacker, as Duke signed four-star prospect Bradley Gompers in the 2025 class.
The Blue Devils signed four total prospects out of Pennsylvania in the 2025 cycle.
Gatten has visited Durham to check out Duke's campus on multiple occasions, including in late January.

He ranks as the No. 18 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania and the No. 50 linebacker in the 2026 cycle.
As a junior in 2024, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Gatten helped lead the Vikings to a 12-3 overall record. Central Catholic earned a Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) 6A championship and a runner-up finish in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) 6A state championship game.
In addition to Duke and Penn State, Colsen Gatten has received scholarship offers from Boston College, California, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, SMU, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Wisconsin and others.

He took an official visit to Pitt during the weekend of June 6 through June 8, and previously had an official visit planned to Indiana. His official visit date to Duke is not yet known.
Gatten is a Penn State legacy recruit, as his father, Aaron Gatten, played for the Nittany Lions in the late 1990s and early 2000s. However, Colsen will look to blaze his own trail at Duke.
With Colsen Gatten now in the fold, Duke's 2026 class grows to seven total commitments.

Big Ten Network football analysts pick B1G order of finish. Where is Ohio State?
Big Ten Network football analysts pick B1G order of finish. Where is Ohio State? It figures to be an unpredictable Big Ten football season. Ohio State won the College Football Playoff national championship last year but lost 14 guys to the NFL, so there's a to of talent to replace. Heck, despite winning the ultimate prize, the Buckeyes only finished in fourth place in the conference behind Oregon, Penn State, and Indiana. The Ducks won the League in their first season in the Big Ten, but they, too, have to replace some key pieces. Indiana figures to take a step back unless we get some more of that unexpected Curt Cignetti magic, and while Penn State probably has the most returning talent, the Nittany Lions have yet to show they can beat the top of the conference consistently. We haven't discussed Michigan yet, but it should be better than last season if it can continue to build off of a great finish. We'll take our stab at predicting how the teams will stack up in the conference in our own time, but two Big Ten football analysts got ahead of the game by doing so already. Former Michigan tight end and Columbus area native Jake Butt joined Adam Breneman to pick the order of finish in the Big Ten for the 2025 season, and there were indeed some differences. Here's how Butt saw things playing out with the top half of the League, with a nod to the good guys: Breneman differed not only on the champion of the league, but elsewhere as well. Here's how he sees the top nine shaking out: Penn State Ohio State Oregon Illinois USC Indiana Michigan Minnesota Iowa If this rings true -- even with the second-place finish predicted by Breneman -- you can go ahead and pencil Ohio State into the College Football Playoff again. However, buyer beware because, as we know, predictions like these are rarely correct, and there will be a slew of surprises and disappointments coming this fall. Former Duke Star Expected to Join 76ers in Latest NBA Mock Draft
Former Duke Star Expected to Join 76ers in Latest NBA Mock Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia 76ers hold the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, set for later this month. While many mock drafts have them selecting Rutgers guard Ace Bailey, one notable projection from Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor suggests a trade down. Advertisement O'Connor proposed a scenario in which the Sixers would receive the No. 7 overall pick, a top-4 protected 2026 first-round pick (via Indiana Pacers) and Herb Jones from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for the No. 3 pick and Kelly Oubre Jr. (player option). In that scenario, Philadelphia would still have strong options at the seventh pick. O'Connor named a few, including Duke guard Kon Knueppel, Arizona forward Carter Bryant, and Duke center Khaman Maluach. Maluach was the player O'Connor projected the 76ers would take if they picked seventh, pointing to him being an "intriguing fit alongside Joel Embiid early in his career in double-big lineups." "Maluach is capable of erasing shots at the rim and shadowing quick guards on the perimeter," O'Connor wrote. "These skills would make him an intriguing fit alongside Joel Embiid early in his career in double-big lineups. Plus he could serve as a backup too." Advertisement The 7-foot-2 center played just one season for Duke, starting in all 39 games and averaging 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists per contest. Khaman Maluach during a game with Taft-Imagn Images O'Connor did mention Maluach is a "work in progress on offense," but that "should come as no surprise," given that he "didn't start playing basketball until he was 13." "Beyond dunking lobs, he's a work in progress on offense with a lack of seasoning as a screener, shooter and creator," O'Connor added. "But he displays a shooting touch that hints at a much higher upside, not too different than Embiid when he entered the NBA. Such a raw skill-set should come as no surprise since the South Sudan native didn't start playing basketball until he was 13." Advertisement The 76ers still have time to look at all possible options, including trading down as well as up. The 2025 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
