Keisean Henderson made a commitment to Houston last spring when people were not sure if he was a legit quarterback or would have to move to another position once he got to college because his mechanics were not refined.
But the Spring (Texas) Legacy standout has not only proven in recent months (especially at the Navy All-American Bowl) that he's a phenomenal prospect – and one of the best athletes in the 2026 class – but also a dynamite quarterback who throws a beautiful ball and is a running threat as well.
As more top coaches see him, the only question that remains now is whether Houston can keep the five-star in its class.
Henderson has said all the right things, seems comfortable there and would be an immediate superstar in the program. But it's also tough to turn down all the elite national powers since they've come calling as well. A nice NIL package could be put together at Houston, but every school has the big bucks to pay him.
His visit schedule this offseason could be telling.

A top seven is being worked on by four-star quarterback Brodie McWhorter, who had been committed to West Virginia but backed off that pledge when Neal Brown was fired after six seasons.
But then West Virginia pulled off a major coaching win by hiring back Rich Rodriguez, bringing in former star quarterback Pat White as an assistant coach and all of a sudden there is excitement back in Morgantown.
Over the last few months, Indiana and Mississippi State have emerged as two leading contenders for the four-star quarterback from Kingston (Ga.) Cass but with Rodriguez's offensive prowess and McWhorter still considering a big group of programs, the Mountaineers could make another run at him.

One of the top uncommitted quarterbacks in the 2026 class is Tayden Kaawa, who's not getting enough recruiting attention considering he's 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, has a really live arm and put up huge numbers in his junior season.
In recent weeks, Kaawa has said that Mississippi State is showing the most interest and he's definitely interest in the Bulldogs. UCF offered in recent days and he's only miles from the BYU and Utah campuses.
Why wouldn't the in-state Big 12 programs make a bigger run at Kaawa, who had more than 3,000 passing yards last season? UCF could make a move as well especially after the recent offer, but the Utes and Cougars could try to keep him home.
Scott Satterfield is 8-16 in two seasons at Cincinnati, a program that went to the College Football Playoff just three years ago, so the Bearcats definitely need a spark. Landing a hometown four-star quarterback would not hurt.
There is going to be significant competition from SEC and Big Ten programs but the Bearcats are definitely a major contender for the Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller standout.
Landing the state's best quarterback could be the shot in the arm Satterfield needs to show decision-makers there that the program is headed in the right direction.

Ryder Lyons is Mormon. He's taking a mission after high school. And BYU has clawed its way into his recruitment in such a serious manner that the five-star quarterback from Folsom, Calif., is taking an official visit there.
But can BYU finish off the job and land the five-star stud? USC and Oregon will also get an official visit and there are a lot of moving pieces there depending on whether four-star Oregon commit Jonas Williams flips to the Trojans.
Michigan is making a major run at Lyons and with his mission coming up the timing would line up perfectly with Bryce Underwood's eligibility in Ann Arbor. Ohio State and Ole Miss remain in the picture as well.

Insider thinks Eagles could find a hidden gem in a castoff with a familiar name
Insider thinks Eagles could find a hidden gem in a castoff with a familiar name NFL Insider believes Philly may benefit from adding the son of a former Eagles star. Once upon a time, people would ask what there was to talk about once the time expired on the Super Bowl and the Philadelphia Eagles entered the offseason. It certainly isn't that way anymore. The NFL Combine was once untelevised. Now, it has exploded into must-see television. Then, we all enter draft season. Pro Days and Top-30 Visits overtake our thinking until the selection meeting finally arrives at the end of April. Once that wraps, we venture into rookie minicamp, OTAs, and mandatory minicamp. Then, there's a break until the Birds return for the beginning of training camp and another preseason. There won't be any silence between June's midpoint and July 22, the official start of training camp. Perhaps you have heard. Jaire Alexander and the Green Bay Packers have ended their relationship in divorce, and the Philadelphia Eagles have been named frequently as a potential destination. Alexander isn't the Eagles' only option for replacing the production they enjoyed from Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, and Avonte Maddox, who all left during free agency. One of ESPN's top NFL insiders believes the Birds could benefit if nepotism begins playing a role in their decision-making. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler mentions Asante Samuel Jr. as a possible option for the Eagles' roster As training camp approaches and things begin to pick up steam, one of the biggest topics of conversation will be Philadelphia's depth chart at defensive back. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean have entrenched themselves in the starting lineup as an outside and slot corner, but there will be competition for the other outside starting gig. That one is expected to be spearheaded by a duel between Kelee Ringo and newly-acquired Adoree' Jackson. A possible Jaire Alexander acquisition upsets the apple cart. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic and threw another name into the mix, free-agent corner Asante Samuel Jr. If Samuel's name looks familiar to you, that's because it should. His father played in Philadelphia for four seasons (2008-11). During his time in the City of Brotherly Love, he was named a Second-Team All-Pro (2009) after leading the league that season in interceptions. He was also named a Pro Bowler three times. Junior was placed on the Los Angeles Chargers' injured reserve due to a shoulder injury in October. He, as Fowler pointed out, lacks long speed. He is also recovering from a neck injury, but Alexander has had his share of injury concerns recently, too, which, no doubt, helped influence Green Bay's decision to move on. Philadelphia invested in the son of a franchise legend by adding Jeremiah Trotter Jr. during the 2024 NFL Draft. Might they explore the possibility of adding another familiar name? Like Trot Jr., Samuel wouldn't be guaranteed a starting gig. He'd have to earn it, but he'd add another talented prospect to the CB discussion. This, more likely than not, is a smoke-filled conversation that won't lead to any fires, but one thing is sure. If Asante Samuel Jr. is the fifth or sixth cornerback on this depth chart, there won't be any complaints about Philadelphia's depth at the position.

Oklahoma State Football: 2025 Cowboys Season Preview and Prediction
Oklahoma State Football: 2025 Cowboys Season Preview and Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. No team in America may be more reliant on striking gold through the transfer portal than the Cowboys, who could finish with 40 newcomers — or more. Oh, and the coaching staff is new, too, with Mike Gundy cleaning house following last year's 3-9 finish that included an 0-9 mark in the Big 12. Gundy's had a habit of bouncing back, but never has a major rebound seemed so daunting. Advertisement [Editor's note: This article is from Athlon Sports' 2025 College Football Preview print magazine. Advertisement On the bright side, both are viewed as strong candidates to lead the Cowboys to a rebound following the worst season of Mike Gundy's 20-year career. The down side: neither has attempted a pass at the college level. Flores, who took a medical redshirt a year ago, arrived as a promising prospect from Nebraska and is the more polished passer of the two. Hejny, more of a dual threat, transferred from TCU, where he worked with current Cowboys offensive coordinator Doug Meacham. The development of one — or both — seems mandatory for an offense that returns little proven firepower and stands heavily reliant on transfer portal additions. Only one regular contributor returns on offense — tight end Josh Ford, who caught 10 passes for 92 yards as a true freshman. Running backs Rodney Fields Jr. and Trent Howland lead an intriguing group that added transfers in Kalib Hicks from Oklahoma and Freddie Brock from Georgia State. The receiving corps took a major hit when Talyn Shettron suffered a torn ACL in the spring. The offensive line won't feature a player who has ever started a game for the Cowboys. Safety Dylan Smith and tackle Iman Oates also return, providing some stability to a unit that is also leaning into transfers to provide significant upgrades. Linebacker Bryan McCoy was a key portal addition from Akron, where he posted 120 tackles on his way to second-team All-MAC recognition. The secondary could emerge as a strength, with safeties Cameron Epps and David Kabongo joining Smith after playing key roles late in 2024. Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy | Nathan J. Texas Tech Football: 2025 Red Raiders Season Preview and Prediction
Texas Tech Football: 2025 Red Raiders Season Preview and Prediction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Expectations for Texas Tech are significantly higher than ever before. There is complete buy-in from the coaching staff and donors, evidenced by the multi-million dollar roster investment through The Matador Club NIL collective, along with the recently opened $242 million Womble Football Center. Joey McGuire's seat is far from hot, but the pressure is certainly going to be ramped up to extremes from the media and fans alike, who are asking this one question: If not now, then when? Leftwich believes that the Red Raiders will challenge defenses vertically with long-limbed receivers Caleb Douglas and Miami (Ohio) transfer Reggie Virgil. Advertisement Head coach Joey McGuire is confident that a trio of transfers — North Carolina tackle Howard Sampson, Miami (Ohio) tackle Will Jados and FCS Illinois State guard/tackle Hunter Zambrano — can make up some ground for Tech in the O-line arms race. A stable of running backs will attempt to replace the program's all-time leading rusher, Tahj Brooks. USC transfer Quinten Joyner rushed for 478 yards and three touchdowns last season for the Trojans, while J'Koby Williams showed twitch and speed unlike any seen in Lubbock in some time. One of the few constants for the Red Raiders is signal-caller Behren Morton, the third-leading passer in the Big 12 last season. Related: Ranking the Big 12 Coaches for 2025 Red Raiders WR Caleb Douglas Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Previewing Texas Tech's Defense for 2025 New defensive coordinator Shiel Wood's primary objective will be to transform a unit that struggled to stop explosive plays (132nd in pass defense) and generate pressure on the quarterback (99th in sacks). The Red Raiders return a couple of key contributors from last year — linebackers Jacob Rodriguez and Ben Roberts. Together, the pair amassed 210 tackles and will be crucial leaders in Wood's revamped unit. Advertisement Bolstering the line are a number of transfers — defensive tackles Lee Hunter (UCF) and Skyler Gill-Howard (Northern Illinois) and edge rushers Romello Height (Georgia Tech) and David Bailey (Stanford). The Red Raiders also addressed their secondary via the portal, adding cornerbacks Brice Pollock (Mississippi State), Tarrion Grant (Purdue), Dontae Balfour (Charlotte) and Amier Boyd (UTEP) and safety Cole Wisniewski (FCS North Dakota State). Johnson-Imagn Images Previewing Texas Tech's Specialists for 2025 The kicking duties appear to be secure with the addition of Upton Bellenfant (Buffalo), who converted 18-of-21 field-goal attempts and all 31 of his extra-point attempts last season.
