KFED's ‘Future Entrepreneur programme' fosters entrepreneurial skills among youth aged 6-18

Abu Dhabi: The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) has successfully completed the first edition of its Future Entrepreneur programme, aiming to foster entrepreneurial skills among youth aged 6 to 18 years. The key objectives of the programme included fostering innovation, empowering young people with financial management skills, and building a new generation of Emirati entrepreneurs using tools for excellence in a practical environment under the guidance of a committee of experts. The Future Entrepreneur Programme attracted applications from more than 1,000 individuals, with 948 invited to take part in a training focused on financial literacy and the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Following the training, participants joined an interactive workshop aimed at identifying the most promising ideas. Out of the invited applicants in the training, 134 youth were selected for a final three-day bootcamp. During the bootcamp, participants developed their business ideas across three main pathways. These included 25 projects involving 70 students in the food and beverage sector, 16 projects with 33 students focusing on goods and merchandise, and 13 projects featuring 30 students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The 54 projects also participated in a marketplace where they had the chance to live a real-world experience and sell their products and services to more than 350 attendees. The programme concluded with a marketplace showcase, where participants presented their products and services before a judging panel that evaluated each project based on creativity and commercial viability. Her Excellency Mouza Obaid Al Nasri, CEO of Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, said: 'The Future Entrepreneur programme is a key pillar in supporting Abu Dhabi's vision to promote entrepreneurship among young people. Our goal is to establish a culture of innovation among youth and equip them to start ventures that support the diversification and sustainability of the national economy. The programme's results demonstrate the strong enthusiasm of the younger generation to turn their ideas into impactful projects, and also affirm the success of our approach, which combines theoretical knowledge and practical application.' The programme took place in Nabdh Al Falah Community Hub in Al Falah City, offering participants an opportunity to register and select their preferred pathway under the Inventor or Trader categories. The training camp implemented a comprehensive framework for identifying promising talent, using criteria such as innovation and problem-solving skills. Participants received expert guidance across different phases of the programme. The camp emphasised practical learning by allowing youth to apply their skills in real-world scenarios such as operating food kiosks and marketing STEM-based products, giving them the opportunity to test their ideas in a simulated market environment. At the conclusion of the camp, the most outstanding projects were selected to join the Future Builders Launchpad. This phase provides both financial and technical support to help turn their ideas into business ventures. Graduates will also receive guidance through the ongoing mentorship programmes, ensuring their long-term success in the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Future Entrepreneur Programme serves as a strong example of effective cross-sector collaboration in developing youth capabilities and highlights Abu Dhabi's dedication to empowering its citizens with the essential skills needed for future success. UAE detects 405 cases of fake Emiratisation in half-year review

A total of 405 fake recruitments to bypass Emiratisation targets have been detected at private sector companies across the UAE during the first half of this year. Releasing the numbers, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said they identified the illegal practices during field inspections and digital monitoring system. The companies were caught issuing work contracts without actually offering employment to the Emirati nationals. The ministry added that legal action has been taken against the companies. Under the UAE's Naif programme, private firms must increase the percentage of Emirati recruitment by two per cent every year to reach at least 10 per cent by 2026. The authority called on the public to report violations via the Ministry's call centre at 600590000, its smart app, or the official website.

MoHRE flags 405 cases of ‘Fake Emiratisation'

The Ministry asserted that legal action has been taken against companies involved in 'Fake Emiratisation' schemes, in line with Cabinet Decision No. (43) of 2025 Concerning Administrative Violations and Penalties Related to Initiatives and Programmes of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (ETCC). In a press statement, MoHRE stressed the efficiency of its field inspections and digital monitoring system in detecting negative practices, chief among them being 'Fake Emiratisation' schemes, which are considered a limited negative practice and do not constitute a concerning phenomenon in the UAE labour market. The Ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to dealing firmly and decisively with companies that fail to comply with Emiratisation policies and decisions, highlighting the negative repercussions of 'Fake Emiratisation' schemes on the broader objectives of Emiratisation efforts, which go beyond employing UAE citizens, and aim to develop a productive and sustainable Emirati human capital in the private sector. Emiratisation plans enable Emirati talents to actively participate in the country's development journey, and contribute more significantly to the national economy, especially in priority sectors targeted by semi-annual Emiratisation goals, the MoHRE statement continues, noting that these goals require enhancing UAE citizens' competency within real skilled jobs, where they perform duties that truly advance their capabilities. The Ministry commended the private sector's commitment to Emiratisation policies, decisions, and targets. It affirmed its continued support for compliant companies by including them in the Emiratisation Partners Club, which enables them to receive 80% reductions on Ministry transaction fees, and grants them priority in the government procurement system, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance. Compliant establishments also benefit from the support provided by the Nafis programme for UAE citizens' wages, along with other benefits and advantages. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation called on UAE citizens and community members to avoid being misled by non-compliant companies and to report cases of 'Fake Emiratisation' they encounter to the call centre at 600590000 or the Labour Claims and Advisory Call Centre at 80084 or through the MoHRE smart application or official website. 'Fake Emiratisation' is defined as the nominal employment of UAE citizens by a company that issues a work permit for them and registers them as employees for purposes other than those for which the permit was issued. These companies typically sign an employment contract with UAE nationals that has all the formal elements but lacks the essential tenets of a real employment relationship, in a bid to circumvent decisions regulating the employment of Emirati citizens in the private sector, including Emiratisation targets, or for the purpose of unlawfully benefiting from government support systems and incentives related to the employment and training of UAE citizens.
