
Person overboard search in Firth of Clyde suspended
Emergency services were called to the area between Dunoon and Gourock on Sunday afternoon, June 15, after a person reportedly fell from a Western Ferries vessel.
Five Coastguard rescue teams — from Largs, Kames, Helensburgh, Greenock, and Dunoon — were deployed, alongside a search and rescue helicopter.
RNLI lifeboats from Helensburgh and Largs also joined the search, and nearby vessels were asked to assist.

The Glasgow Times reported yesterday that CalMac confirmed that its vessel, the MV Ali Cat, supported the rescue effort.
In response to the incident, Western Ferries suspended services at approximately 1.45pm, and CalMac cancelled sailings between Gourock and Dunoon while the Ali Cat assisted emergency services.

In a statement, HM Coastguard confirmed the search has now been suspended.
A spokesperson said: "HM Coastguard responded to reports of a person overboard between the Hunter's Quay and Gourock area in Scotland on Sunday, 15 July.
"A HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was tasked to conduct a search, alongside coastguard rescue teams from Largs, Kames, Helensburgh, Greenock and Dunoon, in addition to RNLI lifeboats from Helensburgh and Largs.
"Nearby vessels were also called to assist.
"Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
"The search has been suspended."

The person fell into the water at 1.20pm on Sunday, during a sailing from Gourock to Hunters Quay, near Dunoon. A spokesperson for the ferry operator confirmed that the crew of the MV Sound of Shuna initiated their "person overboard" procedures in accordance with maritime safety protocols as soon as the alarm was raised. Western Ferries and CalMac vessels took part in the search, along with two RNLI crews, five coastguard teams and a number of private vessels as well as Police Scotland. Western Ferries' managing director Gordon Ross commended all of those involved with the search and highlighted their "prompt response and assistance". A spokesperson for the company said on Monday: "The vessel's crew immediately initiated the overboard procedures in accordance with maritime safety protocols. Search for person overboard from ferry suspended
The search for a person who fell overboard from a ferry in the Firth of Clyde has been suspended, the coastguard said. A major search was launched after the alarm was raised on Sunday afternoon, with the HM Coastguard helicopter, RNLI lifeboats and nearby vessels among those involved. It is understood the person fell from a Western Ferries vessel which operates between Gourock in Inverclyde and Dunoon in Argyll and Bute.
