The Western Ferries service between Gourock and Dunoon alerted the coastguard to the incident at around 1.45pm on Sunday. A Coastguard helicopter was dispatched to conduct a search alongside rescue teams from Largs, Dunoon, Kames and Helensburgh. CalMac also deployed its MV Ali Cat vessel to assist with the search operation. Police Scotland confirmed they had received reports of concern for a person on Sunday. A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: 'We responded to reports of a person overboard between the Hunter's Quay and Gourock area in Scotland on Sunday, June 15. In response to the incident, Western Ferries suspended services at approximately 1.45pm, and CalMac cancelled sailings between Gourock and Dunoon while the Ali Cat assisted emergency services. Western Ferries has confirmed that sailings between McInroy's Point and Hunters Quay resumed at 9pm.
