Justin Baldoni's lawyer blasts Blake Lively's ‘false victory tour' after $400m countersuit was dropped
Justin Baldoni's lawyer has slammed Blake Lively's recent grin-filled outings as a 'false victory tour' after his $400 million lawsuit alleging extortion and defamation against her was scrapped. Bryan Freedman, representing the 'It Ends With Us' director, had some choice words for the 'Gossip Girl' alum after she celebrated her legal win by attending the Chanel Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner in NYC Monday night. Speaking to TMZ, Freedman said that Baldoni's legal upset 'hasn't proved a thing.' Advertisement 4 A judge this week scrapped Justin Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit alleging extortion and defamation against Blake Lively. Nathan Congleton/NBC via Getty Images 'As a matter of fact, it's just the opposite,' he said, adding that 'what we wanted our win is to show there was no smear campaign, and there's no sexual harassment.' 'Look at the facts, look at what's been shown, look at the receipts, look at the video,' he went on, adding that he had hoped Lively didn't 'drop her lawsuit … because she's on a false victory tour, and she's afraid of the truth.' Advertisement 'The truth is, you know, going to be shown through depositions, which is what's going to be next, I've noticed her deposition — it's set in June — we're going to see if she's going to appear at that deposition or not,' Freedman told the outlet. 'And we're gonna proceed forward with the case, and we're gonna show that there was no sexual harassment, and we're gonna show that there was no smear campaign.' 'Ms. Lively and her team's predictable declaration of victory is false, so let us be clear about the latest ruling,' he told Page Six Tuesday. 'While the Court dismissed the defamation related claims, the Court has invited us to amend four out of the seven claims against Ms. Lively, which will showcase additional evidence and refined allegations,' he continued. Sharon Osbourne Booted a Band Off Lineup of Final Black Sabbath Concert
The post Sharon Osbourne Booted a Band Off Lineup of Final Black Sabbath Concert appeared first on Consequence. Sharon Osbourne has revealed that she booted a band off the lineup of the upcoming 'Back to the Beginning' concert featuring the final performances of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. The wife and manager of Ozzy told Metal Hammer that an argument with the undisclosed act's manager led to her decision to disinvite the band from playing the historic all-day concert event being held July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. 'I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath,' revealed Sharon. 'And it was probably the worst way I've felt in years. And I don't care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn't know me. And he's now going around making up bullshit lies because I threw his band off the bill.' She continued, 'I don't care what people say. Because do you know what? I don't love them. I care about people who love me, what they say about me. You can't care what an industry says, because you don't love them, so how can it hurt you? It doesn't.' When asked by Metal Hammer if it was Iron Maiden — as Sharon famously feuded with singer Bruce Dickinson on the 2005 edition of Ozzfest — she replied, 'Oh god, no. Ozzy only has respect for the guys in Maiden. And he didn't even know what Bruce was doing [during Ozzfest]. I never told him, until the night that it happened when it was the last show, and he just looked at me and goes, 'You're terrible.'' Meanwhile, there was speculation that Sharon was referring to Tool, whose name was conspicuously missing from the promotion of the recently announced paid livestream of the 'Back to the Beginning' concert. However, that turned out to be a design oversight, and Tool's name has since been added. In addition to Sabbath and Ozzy, the concert will feature performances from Tool, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, and dozens of other notable rock and metal acts. As mentioned, a global livestream is available to purchase for $29.99. Justin Baldoni's Lawyer Says Blake Lively Shouldn't Celebrate Yet
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Justin Baldoni's lawyer said Blake Lively should hold off on celebrating after a judge dismissed the actor's $400 million defamation lawsuit against her. "Let us be clear about the latest ruling. While the court dismissed the defamation related claims, the court has invited us to amend four out of the seven claims against Ms. Lively, which will showcase additional evidence and refined allegations," Bryan Freedman said in a statement to TMZ. Newsweek reached out to Lively's lawyer outside of regular working hours via email for comment. The Context Baldoni, 41, and Lively, 37, co-starred in the 2024 film It Ends With Us. In December, Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni with the California Civil Rights Department, accusing him of sexual harassment on set. Baldoni—who also directed the movie—and production company Wayfarer Studios responded in a now-dismissed $400 million lawsuit against her, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane, citing defamation, extortion and more. Baldoni also sued The New York Times for $250 million, accusing the newspaper of defamation after it published what he believed was a biased narrative by Lively. On Monday, U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Liman dismissed both the $400 million lawsuit and the $250 million lawsuit, as Lively's sexual harassment accusations were legally protected. The judge noted, however, that Baldoni's legal team could amend the breach of implied covenant and tortious interference claims. "Ms. Lively and her team's predictable declaration of victory is false," Freedman said. "This case is about false accusations of sexual harassment and retaliation and a nonexistent smear campaign, which Ms. Lively's own team conveniently describes as 'untraceable' because they cannot prove what never happened," he told TMZ. "Most importantly, Ms. Lively's own claims are no truer today than they were yesterday, and with the facts on our side, we march forward with the same confidence that we had when Ms. Lively and her cohorts initiated this battle and look forward to her forthcoming deposition, which I will be taking." On Monday, Lively posted a statement to her Instagram Stories following the judge's ruling. "Like so many others, I've felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us. While the suit against me was defeated, so many don't have the resources to fight back," she shared with her 43.4 million followers. "I'm more resolved than ever to continue to stand for every woman's right to have a voice in protecting themselves, including their safety, their integrity, their dignity and their story." That same day, the Gossip Girl alum was all smiles at the Chanel Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner, while Reynolds appeared to be in good spirits, too. The Deadpool star, 48, smiled in an Instagram Stories photo posted to his account following the motion, People reported. What People Are Saying Blake Lively's lawyers, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, in a statement after the judge's dismissal: "Today's opinion is a total victory and a complete vindication for Blake Lively, along with those that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties dragged into their retaliatory lawsuit, including Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloane and The New York Times. As we have said from day one, this '$400 million' lawsuit was a sham, and the court saw right through it. "We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneys' fees, treble damages and punitive damages against Baldoni, Sarowitz, Nathan, and the other Wayfarer Parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation." Sigrid McCawley, an attorney representing Leslie Sloane, in a statement: "Leslie Sloane has consistently said that she never defamed Baldoni or the Wayfarer Parties and she was wrongfully dragged into this lawsuit because the Wayfarer Parties wanted to actively harm Sloane's reputation. Today's decision by the court makes clear that Sloane did nothing wrong. Sloane stands fully vindicated, and justice has been served." The New York Times spokesperson Charlie Stadtlander said: "We are grateful to the court for seeing the lawsuit for what it was: a meritless attempt to stifle honest reporting. Our journalists went out and covered carefully and fairly a story of public importance, and the court recognized that the law is designed to protect just that sort of journalism." What Happens Next Baldoni's legal team has until June 23 to refile their amended claims.
