Nettlestone Capital Advisors launches in DIFC

DUBAI, UAE: Nettlestone Capital Advisors, a senior-led advisory and capital raising firm, has officially launched its operations from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), fully authorised and regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). The firm brings together a unique combination of regulatory oversight, institutional focus, and regional knowledge to asset managers and investors across the Middle East. Founded by industry veteran Edwin Lawrence, Nettlestone is among the few firms in the region offering DFSA-regulated fundraising services tailored to specialist investment managers targeting regional capital. With more than 20 years of experience in the region, Lawrence previously held senior distribution roles at Franklin Templeton and later served as Head of Middle East at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. 'Nettlestone was born out of a belief that the Middle East deserves better alignment between local investor needs and the specialist managers seeking to serve them,' said Lawrence. 'Operating under DFSA regulation from within the DIFC gives us a strong governance framework - while our on-the-ground knowledge enables us to build trusted, long-term relationships in a market that values commitment and cultural fluency.' Nettlestone Capital Advisors follows a highly selective, partnership-driven model, working with a small number of conviction-led managers primarily across alternative asset classes. Leveraging a proprietary database of over 400 institutional investors and Family Offices across six Gulf markets, the firm offers a targeted approach to distribution built on nearly two decades of local experience. The launch of Nettlestone comes at a time of growing institutional interest in differentiated investment strategies and increasing demand for governance and alignment led capital raising models in the region.

Dubai: Majid Al Futtaim says business as usual despite changes in parent company

The Dubai-based conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Holding on Tuesday said the recent updates at its parent company 'do not affect the operations or governance' of the company. The Financial Times earlier reported that Dubai has set up a special judicial committee to restructure the board of the MAF parent company Majid Al Futtaim Capital for smooth succession after the death of the group's founder Majid Al Futtaim. 'Recent updates at our parent company, Majid Al Futtaim Capital, reflect a shareholder-led effort to evolve governance in line with the long-term interests of the Group. These changes do not affect the operations or governance of Majid Al Futtaim Holding. Majid Al Futtaim continues to operate under an independent board and strong oversight,' the company said in a statement to Khaleej Times on Tuesday. 'Our focus remains on delivering sustainable growth across our core businesses to drive economic prosperity in the markets in which we operate,' said the statement. Majid Al Futtaim is one of the largest family-owned businesses in the UAE and region with interests in retail, hospitality, real estate, entertainment, and facility management among others. It owns 29 malls and welcomes more than 178 million customers per year. Some of its popular brands are Mall of the Emirates, City Centre, Matajer and others. Its hospitality portfolio consists of 7 hotels including Kempinski and Sheraton Mall of the Emirates, Pullman City Centre Deira and others. It employs thousands of people across its diverse portfolio in many countries. Moreover, Dubai and UAE have been pushing family-owned businesses to plan succession for smooth transition and operation of businesses. In Dubai and the wider Middle East, many families face their first intergenerational wealth transfer. They will have to navigate this transition against a backdrop of evolving social norms, managing both Sharia and non-Sharia law as well as international inheritance and tax laws. According to wealth analytics firm Kidbrooke, wealthy families across the Middle East will pass Dh3.67 trillion ($1 trillion) to the next generation during the coming decade. In Dubai, family businesses are synonymous with economic stability and growth. Up to 90 per cent of private companies in the UAE are family businesses, employing more than 70 per cent of the private sector's workforce and contributing around 40 per cent to the national GDP. In 2021, Emirati billionaire Majid Al Futtaim passed away, establishing a group with global recognition. Majid Al Futtaim Holding had announced hiring 3,000 UAE citizens to support the Emiratisation efforts of the government. 'Majid Al Futtaim remains a privately owned and independently operated Emirati company with a clear strategy, strong performance, and stable governance,' the company said in a statement.

Dutco, Sweid & Sweid Launch Dubai's Largest Privately-Owned Logistics Park

Dutco and Sweid & Sweid have announced the launch of Terralogix — the emirate's largest privately-owned logistics park, in a move that reinforces Dubai's ambitions to become one of the world's top five Grade-A logistics hubs. Located in Warsan, Northern Dubai, the 3.3 million square foot development is designed to serve as a critical node in Dubai's supply chain infrastructure. Maher Sweid, Founder and Managing Partner of Sweid & Sweid commented, 'Terralogix will be developed by Dutco and Sweid & Sweid — two UAE-based firms with strong heritage and established track records. The Dutco Group brings decades of expertise across many sectors including construction, hospitality, real estate, and oil and gas, while Sweid & Sweid is known for developing high quality, institutional-grade real estate assets. Together, we will be delivering Terralogix as a landmark project to spearhead the evolution of Dubai's industrial sector.' Terralogix stands out for both its location and adaptability. As one of the few large-scale logistics developments in Northern Dubai, it provides access to areas underserved by other logistics facilities largely concentrated in Southern Dubai. The park's modular design and flexible leasing model allow tenants to scale, expand, or custom-build their facilities to meet their exact requirements. Phase One is already underway, and scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2026. Nelson Gibb, CEO of Dutco Group commented, 'As the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 accelerates toward its target of doubling the city's economy by 2033, logistics and trade sit at the heart of that vision. The project brings meaningful new capacity to a sector under pressure from surging demand and limited supply. With direct connectivity to major highways and immediate access to airports and seaports, Terralogix is well positioned to support businesses operating across the UAE and the wider region.' Pre-leasing at Terralogix is now open. For more information, visit
