The Wolverines are in control of this one early. They opened the game on a 10-0 run and have led the entire way while the Tritons shot just 2-of-15 from deep.
The Red Storm weathered the Omaha ... storm early in the game to take a mild lead into the locker room. Neither team is shooting particularly well. Can St. John's pull away?
There might not be much more to say about this game. Utah State's offense is still sputtering (3-of-24 on 3-pointers) and UCLA has its biggest lead of the night, with 14 points from Skyy Clark. The Bruins have assists on 19 of their 22 field goals tonight.

If there was one underdog that the betting public seemed to be gravitating toward at sportsbooks this week, it was No. 11 Drake. The Bulldogs (+5.5) were the most-bet team on the moneyline at BetMGM among all of Thursday's games, and had upwards of 75% of wagers and 80% of handle at multiple sportsbooks to cover.
The Bulldogs not only ended up covering for all 40 minutes of the game, but held on to win outright, 67-57.
One Vegas bookmaker's succinct text to Yahoo Sports on the result: "Not good."
SJU answered Omaha's 7-0 with its own 7-0 barrage, but Omaha still leads 12-10 at the under-12 timeout.

Utah State's offense, ranked 17th in the country by KenPom, is shooting 10-of-32 (2-of-17 from deep) with six turnovers. The Aggies' Mason Falslev leads all scorers with 13 points, but UCLA's offense is doing what it wants so far in Lexington.

Missouri went on a 10-0 run, almost all of which came from the free throw line, to cut the game to just a single point. Drake finally responded with a jumper from Stirtz and a Cam Manyawu layup to end the run and keep their lead.

Drake is 3-of-10 from the free throw line today, and Missouri is suddenly right back in this. Drake's lead is down to just four points with about six minutes left
After a close start, UCLA broke off a 7-0 run and holds an early lead in its 7-10 matchup. Utah State has a free throw coming off the timeout after a Karson Templin and-1, though.
The Aggies went nearly wire-to-wire against a Yale team that seemed equipped to at least annoy them, with Pharrel Payne posting a career-high 25 points off the bench. They'll get the winner of the next game between Michigan and UC San Diego.
Bennett Stirtz just hit a truly ridiculous 3-pointer off one foot before the shot clock expired for Drake, which still has Mizzou on the ropes in the second half.

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney gives encouraging update on kicker
After what he called an "average week" for kicker Nolan Hauser last Saturday, Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney had a message following the Tigers' second scrimmage of fall camp. "He had a great day," Swinney told reporters on Thursday. "Y'all make sure you print that." Swinney had said on Aug. 9 after the Tigers' first live game of fall camp that Hauser had had an average week, including one kick that was "just terrible." He offered a more promising report on his sophomore kicker after Thursday's scrimmage. "He actually had a really good day," Swinney said. "He's had a few good days. But Nolan, stuff just goes off his back. He's just kind of wired the right way, but I thought he was average last week." Swinney had said last Saturday that Hauser needed to "pick it up" and that he hadn't been as consistent as the Tigers' coach would like. Watch Swinney's full press conference below. Clemson football schedule 2025 Clemson opens the season against the LSU Tigers at Memorial Stadium in prime time on Aug. 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ABC. Michael Johnson admits Grand Slam Track cannot pay its athletes until new investors are found
Grand Slam Track founder Michael Johnson has spoken out after failing to pay athletes and said the event would not go ahead in 2026 unless a solution was found. The league, which is in its inaugural season, owes competitors millions of dollars in appearance fees and prize money, and in June the fourth and final meet on the calendar, scheduled for Los Angeles, was cancelled. Johnson's deal with host UCLA had become financially unviable, with estimated losses of more than $2m had the event gone ahead. In a statement on Friday, Johnson said the company was 'struggling with our ability to compensate' athletes due to not receiving promised funding. 'It is incredibly difficult to live with the reality that you've built something bigger than yourself while simultaneously feeling like you've let down the very people you set out to help. However, I have to own that,' the former Olympic champion said. 'And yes, the cruellest paradox in all of this is we promised that athletes would be fairly and quickly compensated. Yet, here we are struggling with our ability to compensate them. 'We were devastated when we learned we would not receive the funding committed to us. We worked tirelessly alongside our investors and board to find a quick solution to the problem. Up until and even after the LA postponement, we were getting positive signs that a solution was close.' Before the opening event in Kingston, Jamaica, Johnson's co-founder Steve Gera told The Independent that they were 'maniacally focused on having the youngest fanbase of any sports league in the world in the next five years'. The star-studded list of athletes – which included US stars Kenny Bednarek, Gabrielle Thomas and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone as well as British names including Josh Kerr and Dina Asher-Smith – competed in two linked events, such as 100m and 200m sprints, with results combined to calculate the winners in each category. Prize money for winners stood at $100,000, with $50,000 for runners-up and $10,000 for eighth place. The competition was billed as a much-needed shot in the arm for athletics, although the decision to include only track events and omit field disciplines was met with criticism. 'I am going to save what I think I can save,' Johnson explained. 'I think I can save track, I don't think I can save track and field.' But ticket sales have been slow and sponsorship and broadcast revenues have not met lofty expectations. The Times reports that organisers will save around £2.2m in prize money and travel expenses by cancelling the Los Angeles event. Some of the action has played out in half-empty stadiums, although the third event in Philadelphia was more popular, with close to 30,000 tickets sold over two days after the action was compressed from the three days of events held in Kingston and Miami. A disappointing crowd in Jamaica prompted organisers to review their locations for 2026, with a variety of other markets being considered, including European cities. Johnson said Grand Slam was now working to put new systems in place with the aim to ensure this did not happen again in the future. He added: 'While I am no stranger to setbacks and overcoming obstacles, as an athlete, professionally and personally, this current situation of not being able to pay our athletes and partners has been one of the most difficult challenges I've ever experienced. 'The 2026 season will not happen until these obligations are met - and that is my number one priority.' additional reporting by PA
