Apple teases stunning all-glass iPhone design - sleek, futuristic, concept that looks straight out of Sci-Fi

Most iPhones today are already glass on the front and back but have a metal frame in between. Apple has a new patent showing a design that makes the iPhone look fully made of glass. Apple has explored this idea before, but this patent gives the clearest look yet at what such a phone might be like. All-glass design illusion The design is not literally all glass, because that's not practical right now — instead, it uses design tricks to give the illusion of a single glass block. The patent talks about a 'six-sided glass enclosure' with a first glass sheet on the front that curves over all four edges, replacing the normal metal sides. This curved glass front would connect to a second glass sheet at the back, sandwiching the phone's internal parts inside, as per the tom's guide report. However, the patent admits the phone might still be built from multiple glass panels joined together, not a single wraparound piece, because making such large curved glass parts is very hard. Curved edges could add new controls The curved edges wouldn't just be for looks — they could also display extra information and respond to touch controls. Patent drawings show touch areas for volume control, Wi-Fi, and Airplane mode. This could be a new way to access the Control Center, replacing the usual swipe-down menu, according to the report by tom's guide. Live Events Apple might also add other functions like media controls, navigation buttons, or features similar to the Samsung Galaxy Edge display from years ago. The patent says the design will include holes for microphones and speakers, so these parts won't be hidden under the glass like Face ID sensors might be in the future. ALSO READ: Trump voter's regret! ICE detains supporter who now says, 'We were all brainwashed' Some parts of this design are similar to rumors about the iPhone 20, but there's no proof that Apple will actually release this all-glass version. Apple files many patents, and not all of them turn into real products. This design could change or be canceled after testing, as stated in the report by tom's guide. Right now, Apple fans are still waiting for the iPhone 17 launch , expected at an event rumored for September 9. If this all-glass concept is ever released, it could be the most futuristic iPhone ever, making people wonder what the iPhone of 2035 might be able to do, as mentioned by tom's guide. FAQs Q1. What is Apple's new all-glass iPhone design? Apple's patent shows an iPhone that looks fully made of glass with curved edges, creating a seamless look. Q2. Will Apple actually release the all-glass iPhone soon? There's no confirmation yet; Apple files many patents and not all become real products.

US tariff impact will be temporary, private sector should step up: Chief economist

Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran on Wednesday said US tariffs-related challenges will dissipate in the next one or two quarters, and urged the private sector to do more as the country navigates through other longer-term attributed the growth slowdown in FY25, which saw a deceleration to 6.5 per cent from FY24's 9.2 per cent, to tight credit conditions and liquidity issues. The right agriculture policies can add 25 per cent to real GDP growth, Nageswaran the US tariffs, the CEA said it is the second and third order impacts, which will flow once sectors like gems and jewellery, shrimps and textiles have taken the first order brunt, that will be "more difficult" to tackle. The government is aware of the situation and conversations with the impacted sectors have already begun, Nageswaran said, adding that one will hear from the policymakers in the coming days and weeks, but people have to be speculation on whether US officials will visit India for trade talks later this month as reported, Nageswaran said the upcoming meet in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladmir Putin is likely to influence the to spell out any details on the trade negotiations between India and the US, the academic-turned-advisor said things are very fluid at the world stage right now with relations swinging from cooperation to stalemate, and spelled out his expectation of the impact of a 50 per cent US tariff on Indian exports."I do believe that the current situation will ease out in a quarter or two. I don't think that from a long-term picture, the India impact will be that significant but in the short run, there will be some impact," he said no one can guess the exact reasons why President Donald Trump chose to slap the high tariffs on India, wondering if it's the fallout of Operation Sindoor or something even more the CEA said the focus on tariff-related issues should not blind us to more "important challenges", including the impact of artificial intelligence, reliance on one country for critical minerals, and their processing and strengthening of supply exhorted the private sector to do more "as we navigate these longer-term challenges, promising that public policy will play the facilitator's role"."Private sector also has a lot of thinking to do, given the massive strategic challenges we face in the coming years... the private sector also has to think about the long-term rather than the next quarter, which is what might have led to many of the challenges we are currently beginning to face," he said in the comments aimed at India however, did not elaborate on the subject any that the government has allocated money towards the research purposes, he said it is now for the private sector to up their investments in the Indian youth is staring at both physical and health issues arising from excess screen use, consumption of ultra-processed food, etc, which is leading to anxieties and even suicidal thoughts among people, the CEA said, seeking the private sector's help to tackle the welcomed the capital expenditure put in by the private sector in FY26 and data to be released in February next year will attest to the consumption story is "quite healthy", the CEA said, pointing to the data on UPI usage. Specifically on urban consumption, he rued that there is no proper data source to capture services consumption, and added that drawing from listed companies' earnings may also not be the right measure as consumption is moving to the unlisted overall resource mobilisation in the economy is not showing any slackening, the CEA said, asking all to look at banks credit growth, commercial paper issuances, and IPO fundraising China, Nageswaran said "we also need to understand the security dimension and look at the USD 100 billion trade deficit beyond just the number". As a solution, there is a need to diversify the sources of imports and the CEA stressed that the private sector will have a role to play naming China, he said only one country supplies critical minerals, which are essential for semiconductors, artificial intelligence tech, and added that the supply is "critically unstable"."We cannot go from crude oil import dependence to critical minerals and ladders import dependence. Understand that crude oil (sources) at least is more diversified," he said."Indian policy-makers must choose between accepting permanent strategic dependence on adversaries or committing the resources necessary for genuine support to independence," Nageswaran that AI will cause labour displacement, Nageswaran pitched for caution in AI adoption and added that "we will have to choose the areas in which we allow AI to be deployed and harnessed, and also the speed with which we do so".There is a need to create at least 80 lakh new jobs per annum in the next 10–12 years, he added.(Disclaimer: The views, opinions, recommendations, and suggestions expressed by experts/brokerages in this article are their own and do not reflect the views of the India Today Group. Apple iPhone 17 price may jump $100, but you will get more storage for your money

Apple might give you more storage from the start, especially in the Pro models, but apparently, at a very heavy cost, quite literally. As Apple might be getting ready to break a rule it has followed for almost eight years, i.e., keeping the prices of U.S. iPhone Pros the same. New information from the industry suggests that the iPhone 17 series could cost up to $100 more when it comes out. This is because of new features, design changes, and trade tensions around the world, as per a report by Techbook. The iPhone 17 lineup from Apple could cost up to $100 more, which would be the first price increase for high-end models in the U.S. since 2017. Analysts say that global tariffs, design improvements, and more storage are all important factors, as per a report by Techbook. Apple has refused to raise the prices of its best iPhones in the U.S. for years, and they have stayed the same since the iPhone X came out in 2017. That streak might not last much longer. ALSO READ: Donald Trump to host Kennedy Center honors — see the surprising list of this year's recipients Live Events Jeff Pu, an industry analyst, and other people who work on Wall Street think that the price of the next iPhone 17 series will go up a lot. There are many reasons, including a new design, better internal hardware, and, maybe most importantly, global trade policies, as per a report by Techbook. Tariffs on Chinese electronics have been a big issue during Trump's second term. Even though Apple makes most of its Pro models for the U.S. in India now, the unstable trade climate has led to rumors of price hikes. In fact, a lot of Americans bought things in a panic in early April because they were worried that iPhone prices would go up, as per a report by Techbook. How much more could buyers afford? The prices being talked about are between $50 and $100 more than what they are now. In the U.S., the price of the iPhone 17 Pro could go up from $999 to between $1,049 and $1,099. That would be the first time that Apple's Pro series has an entry-level option with less than $1,000 in storage. ALSO READ: Orca attack mystery: What really happened to marine trainer Jessica Radcliffe The rise fits with what several market watchers have said, including leaks from Setsuna Digital and comments from Jeffries analyst Edison Lee. Apple may be trying to protect its profit margins without losing customers because of rising costs and inflation, as per a report by Techbook. Will the extra storage make up for the rise? Apple could make things easier for buyers by giving them more storage from the start. People are saying that the iPhone 17 Pro will start at 256GB instead of 128GB. This is the same storage level that the iPhone 16 Pro currently costs $1,099 for. Apple could frame the price increase as extra value instead of just an extra cost if they got rid of the smaller capacity option. This isn't a new move; the company did something similar when it stopped making the 128GB version of the iPhone 15 Pro Max in 2023. FAQs Why do people think the iPhone 17 will cost more? Analysts say that global tariffs, design changes, and more storage are some of the main reasons. Will the base iPhone 17 Pro still have 128GB of storage? Probably not; reports say the Pro could start at 256GB.
