Paul McCartney reveals his 3 favorite albums — not by The Beatles

Yahoo27-06-2025
When it's time to put on a record, Paul McCartney is a big fan of the classics.
The former Beatle revealed his top three albums in a recent installment of his segment 'You Know The Answer,' in which McCartney responds to one question from a fan. The answers are then posted on his website.
For the June 25 installment, a fan asked the legendary musician, 'Are there any albums that take you back to certain periods in your life? And does performing your own music evoke similar memories?'
McCartney responded with, 'Yeah, definitely. My favourite albums by other people tend to be: Music from Big Pink by The Band, Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys, and Harvest by Neil Young. They are the three classics that I love to listen to, and they all remind me of certain times in my life.'
The 83-year-old went on to say that when he performs his own songs, 'they often bring back memories of recording them. That can often entail memories of John and George in the studio — sweet memories!"
Fans looking to ask McCartney a question can submit theirs via the Paul McCartney Official Fan Group on Facebook, or by tagging @paulmccartney on social media.

Famous actress from Mass. says she was ‘too poor' to visit Nantucket

While Meghann Fahy grew up in Massachusetts, there's one local destination the Emmy-nominated actress did not visit until much later in life. The Longmeadow native recently told Seth Meyers she couldn't afford to go to Nantucket until she got a role in Netflix's 'The Perfect Couple,' which aired in 2024. While the mystery series was mostly filmed on Cape Cod, Fahy used her downtime to take a ferry over to the island. 'We pull in, and immediately I was like, 'Oh! That's why I've never been to Nantucket,'' Fahy told Meyers. 'I was too poor then, and I am still too poor now. This place is crazy.' Meyers, who grew up in Bedford, New Hampshire, then told Fahy that he's a frequent visitor to nearby Martha's Vineyard. 'You look like you go there,' Fahy shot back at the late night host. 'I like how you're answering my 'Are you a classic New Englander?' by the way you're asking these questions,' Meyers replied. All joke aside, Meyers gave Fahy an open invite to visit him and his family on Martha's Vineyard. 'It's not Nantucket,' Meyers said. 'We're way more laid back.' Comedic TikTok star whose ‘videos brought joy to the world' dies at 47

John Crawley, a content creator known as KingBeardX on social media, has died at the age of 47. Crawley died on Monday, Aug. 18 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, according to his obituary. His death was also announced via a GoFundMe that was created that by his friend and former podcast cohost, Anthony Caruso. 'I'm really sorry to tell everyone the bad news but Pimpmunkx (KingBeardx) passed away yesterday,' an update on the campaign page read. 'Thank you to everyone that has supported the fundraiser so far. His mother told me to thank you all. The fundraiser will continue to go on to support fundraising a funeral/helping John's mother.' The social media star was known for his fluffy beard and comical food reaction videos that he shared on TikTok and Instagram. One of his top videos on TikTok, which has gotten 44 million views, shows Crawley hilariously responding to someone showing 'the correct way' to eat a cinnamon roll by unravelling it from the center. Crawley had more than 3.5 million across his platforms. His death came after he was hospitalized for breathing difficulties two weeks ago, according to the GoFundMe. 'He went to the hospital; he was having trouble breathing. Doctors put him on a ventilator… we went past 66% (O2 levels) and he stopped breathing," a family member wrote on the campaign page. 'They (put him into the ICU and) brought it back up to 100% (O2 levels). He just had a tube placed in his chest… his breathing condition is still very bad.' Tributes were left for the late content creator on both the GoFundMe and his obituary. 'Mr Cinamininin your videos brought joy to the world with love, laughter and your humour,' one tribute read. 'You will be sorely missed, sending healing love to all who knew him.' 'Mr. Crawley was my favorite influencer, to millions of others the same. I was so disappointed when I saw that he had passed,' another tribute read. 'I'm so emotional writing this even though I didn't know him. Rest in piece John, heaven will be delighted to have you.' The Beatles Tease A Mysterious New Release—But Fans Have A Good Hunch

(Original Caption) The Beatles are shown at a press conference at the Warwick Hotel. Standing left to right are: Ringo Starr, (wearing polka dot shirt), Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison. Bettmann Archive 55 years after The Beatles called it quits, fans today are in a near-constant state of speculation about what the rock legends—and their estates—will release next. In recent years, that's included deluxe, remixed box sets of their classic albums; a treasure trove of remastered, never-before seen footage in Disney+'s Get Back docuseries; and of course, the 'final' Beatles song, 'Now and Then," released in 2023. The latest moptop missive arrived Tuesday morning on the band's website: a teaser image of the back of a canvas, with the numbers '1,' '2,' '3,' and '4?' cycling in the center. On Instagram, the band went further, filling the numbers with imagery seen on the cover of a 1995 release. All signs point to a 3oth anniversary re-release of The Beatles Anthology. In 1995, surviving members Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr told the band's story in a six-part TV docuseries, and also released a three-volume CD set of the same name, packed with demos, rarities, live and unreleased versions of their songs. But the Anthology project gained most notice for its two 'new' Beatles songs, 'Free as a Bird' and 'Real Love.' They were based on home demo recordings by co-founder John Lennon, made shortly before his murder in 1980. The surviving Beatles and producer Jeff Lynne utilized then-cutting-edge tech to combine Lennon's voice and piano with their new instrumentation and backing vocals. When the songs were unveiled in 1995, public response was mixed. Many listeners felt the quality of Lennon's home recordings left the singer muddy and indecipherable in the mix. 'Now and Then" was actually planned for Anthology as well, but sessions were abandoned partway through (Harrison, according to his bandmates, wasn't enjoying himself). Instead, McCartney and Starr picked things up nearly 30 years later to finish the recording—and it was immediately clear just how far audio technology had advanced in the decades since. AI tech allowed Lennon's voice and piano to be separated onto their own tracks and cleaned up to near-studio quality. The success of 'Now and Then' led to immediate speculation: would the band attempt to remix 'Free as a Bird' and 'Real Love' using today's tech? A huge clue arrived earlier this month, when Spotify and other DSPs amended those songs' titles with the words '1995 Mix.' Tuesday's announcement not only strengthens that theory, but points to an entire re-release of the Anthology album set—along with a brand-new fourth volume. The band has stuck to anniversaries for their re-releases, and 2025 marks thirty years since Anthology arrived. The canvas graphic used in the announcement is the same used for the back covers of the original collection. Other points are less clear: Will this endeavor include a reissue (and possible remaster) of the Anthology docuseries? And when can we expect any of this to drop? For now, the band's simply asking for fans to 'Stay Tuned' on its teaser page.
