Greek hotel workers get epic revenge on selfish tourists in bitter sunbed war

Daily Mirror2 days ago
A group of workers who are spending their summer in Zante went viral for their revenge on hotel guests who got up to reserve sunbeds at 6am - but people have been left divided
A group of hotel workers got their revenge on "selfish" Zante holidaymakers who wage sunbed wars by "hiding" their towels and flinging them up trees.
Tourists will know the struggle of securing a sunbed while on holiday all too well, with some waking up at the crack of dawn to reserve beds close to the pool or beach. Videos have previously shown tourists fighting over beds, with some holidaymakers reserving them for the whole day despite not using them.

Millie Newsham was on her way back to her hotel room at 6am after a night out on June 27 with friends when they noticed towels were placed on sunbeds to reserve them. Footage shows the group chaotically dragging towels off the loungers, chucking and scattering them around the poolside.

Towels are dumped on railings, "hidden" on top of 7ft walls and even slung up trees. The 20-year-old Brit has been in Zante since mid-June and is working as a waitress there for the summer but says her friends have become increasingly frustrated sharing the hotel with other tourists.
She said reserving sunbeds was "selfish" and not the done thing in party island Zante. Millie, from Blackpool, Lancashire, said: "We live at the hotel because we're working here and a load of tourists are staying here now. They came and put their towels by the pool.
"Nobody does it. You just don't because we're in Zante. We'd all had a little bit to drink and then we started hiding their towels around the hotel.
"I don't think that you should reserve sunbeds because obviously here nobody gets up until about three in the afternoon so there's literally no point." Some hotels have policies in place that attempt to deter guests from reserving loungers, though they are rarely enforced as bosses fear backlash.

"It's quite selfish because half of these people they're not even getting up," Millie adds. "Then the people that are getting up then don't have a lounger. It's so annoying. We've scared them off. They haven't done it since."
And while Millie's drunk antics might have gone unnoticed initially, news of her viral video has done the rounds in the hotel. Millie said: "I've heard people talking about the TikTok.
"A couple of girls I was sat next to at the pool, I've never spoken to them and they were like, 'I've seen this TikTok, it was at this hotel and people were moving the towels.'

"I was just laughing. I wasn't expecting it to go viral. Every time I go on there's like another thousand likes on it. Some people were agreeing with it. Some people think you shouldn't touch other people's stuff but it's a towel."
The clip left TikTok users divided in the comments, with some understanding the frustration and others defending the right to reserve a sunbed.
One user said: "They want to have their cake and eat it - if you're not prepared to wake up earlier, do not expect to get a sunbed if you have to have a more budget holiday, it's first come first serve."

The little-known Portuguese city named Europe's best ‘hidden gem' for a summer holiday

You know those lesser-known destinations that get largely overlooked by the travel industry but offer just as many outstanding restaurants, pretty views and top-tier vibes as their more famous neighbours, just without all the crowds? Yes, we're talking about 'hidden gems'. It's arguably the most overused phrase in travel writing, but the truth is that Europe is full of drop-dead gorgeous spots that haven't (yet) gone viral on TikTok or been blighted by overtourism. Handily, HomeToGo has designed a European Hidden Gem Index based on data on search trends and holiday home pricing, as well as the quality of the views, the food, and the weather. After crunching all that data, they produced a roundup of the 10 with the highest overall score. Topping their list is Tomar, a lovely Portuguese city in the Ribatejo province, which was founded way back in 1160 and has the historical sights and old-fashioned charm to prove it. Tomar gained a gastronomy score of 8.77, an accommodation cost score of 9.13 (based on the median nightly price per person for a holiday home) and and an under-the-radar score of 9.43, which all contributed to its solid 61.64 total overall. In second place was Brisighella in Italy, scoring 59.12 overall, and in third it was Nafplio in Greece closely behind with 57.82. Read on for the full top 10! These are the top 10 'hidden gems' in Europe for 2025 Tomar, Portugal Brisighella, Italy Nafplio, Greece Puy-l'Évêque, France Bremm, Germany Beynac-et-Cazenac, France Valdoviño, Spain Sibiu, Romania Labeaume, France Beaumaris, Wales, UK Did you see that Europe's best wine destinations in 2025 have been ranked?

The Hulu star's busty display comes after she revealed her plastic surgery secrets - including doctor details and breast implant size. Kylie made the admission in response to influencer Rachel Leary, who had praised her chest as 'the most perfect, natural boob job ever' and begged for specifics. Rachel had uploaded a video on Monday asking Kylie to share what she 'asked for' when getting her breasts done. She captioned it: 'Help a girl out @Kylie Jenner, I just want to know how to get them to sit like that, respectfully.' To the surprise of many, the beauty mogul replied directly to the clip, writing: '445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol.' The TikTok exchange comes two years after Kylie first confirmed she had undergone a secret breast augmentation at 19 - something she denied for years. Rachel was stunned by the response, replying: 'KYLIEEEEE!!! you are the best THANK YOU!!!!' Kylie Jenner breast implants are 'too big' as top plastic surgeon warns against procedure because of 'complications' Fans quickly flooded the comments with praise for the star. Jenner's surgeon, Dr. Garth Fisher, is a well-known celebrity doctor and is a longtime favourite of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. He performed Kris Jenner's facelift on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, gave Kourtney Kardashian her boob job, and even carried out a revision facelift for Caitlyn Jenner pre-transition. He also removed a tumour from Khloe Kardashian's face and helped Real Housewives star Lisa Rinna revise her silicone lip fillers. Kylie first confirmed her surgery in a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, revealing she had the procedure done before giving birth to daughter Stormi, now seven. She told Stassie Karanikolaou: "I got my breasts done before Stormi. Within six months of having Stormi – not thinking I would have a child when I was 20 – they were still healing.' She admitted she regretted the decision, adding: 'I had beautiful breasts, like natural t*ts, just gorgeous… and I just wished, obviously, I never got them done to begin with 9 Kylie accessorised with cat-eye shades Credit: BackGrid 9 Beauty mogul Kylie wore a white thong bikini for an ocean outing Credit: BackGrid 9 The sisters spent the afternoon at Loulou Beach Club on Pampelonne Beach Credit: BackGrid 9 Kylie dried off with a yellow striped towel Credit: BackGrid 9 Kendall and Kylie appeared to be in high spirits Credit: BackGrid 9 Later, the Jenners were seen jumping fully clothed into the sea Credit: BackGrid

Major power outage hits Brit holiday hotspot as ATMs down, metros halted & people ‘trapped in lifts' in chaos

CITY AT STANDSTILL Major power outage hits Brit holiday hotspot as ATMs down, metros halted & people 'trapped in lifts' in chaos PRAGUE has been hit by a blackout leaving people trapped in elevators and unable to withdraw cash from ATMs. The power outage hit the Czech Republic today, July 4, affecting the capital, Prague, and some surrounding areas. Advertisement Most of the city was affected for hours with the metro transport service stopped completely by the sudden loss of power. Terrified citizens and tourists were left trapped in hotel elevators across the city. Police and emergency teams scrambled to offer help to those who needed assistance. Police officials initially reported that they had little information about the outage. Advertisement People were left with no access to cash during the blackout with ATMs shut down. The country's cyber security and police teams confirmed the blackout was not thought to be linked to terrorism or a cyber attack. Hundreds of trains were halted by the outage as officials scrambled to get the power back on. A Skoda factory downed tools amid the blackout. Advertisement The incident is likely to spark concerns about the resilience of Europe's power grids after Spain suffered the worst blackout in its history in April.
