President Murmu to attend first convocation of AIIMS Gorakhpur on June 30
New Delhi [India], June 24 (ANI): President Droupadi Murmu will visit Gorakhpur on June 30 to attend the first convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Gorakhpur, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said on Tuesday.
This will mark the President's fourth visit to Gorakhpur in the past seven years, following an invitation extended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
According to the CMO, President Murmu will also inaugurate the state's first AYUSH University in Pipri, Bhathat, on July 1 during her two-day visit. Additionally, she is scheduled to visit the Gorakhnath Temple and offer prayers to Mahayogi Gorakhnath.
In April, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that AIIMS Gorakhpur was steadily progressing and playing a key role in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India.
'AIIMS Gorakhpur is moving ahead on the path of progress; it is a matter of happiness. It is situated in the heart of eastern Uttar Pradesh. I am confident that we will be able to contribute to fulfilling Prime Minister Modi's vision, which he has seen by linking health services with the vision of a developed India,' the Chief Minister had said during his visit to Gorakhpur.
CM Yogi laid the foundation stone for a 500-bed 'Powergrid Vishram Sadan' at AIIMS Gorakhpur. The rest house, aimed at supporting patients and their families, is being developed at a cost of Rs 44 crore under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Power Grid Corporation of India.
'Today (April), to expand the healthcare facilities of the same AIIMS, Gorakhpur, I participated in the Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony of the 500-bed 'Powergrid Vishram Sadan'. Congratulations to the people of the state and best wishes to the AIIMS family!' UP CM had posted on X.
The Vishram Sadan will provide accommodation for up to 500 people visiting AIIMS Gorakhpur for medical treatment. (ANI)

Hapur tragedy: Denied urgent care over Rs 20k advance payment, girl, 5, dies at pvt hospital; CMO promises probe, cops silent
MEERUT: A five-year-old girl died without treatment in a hospital in Hapur after staff there allegedly insisted on an advance payment of Rs 20,000. Her parents, Mohd Anwar and Mausami, had been working as labourers at the hospital for the past seven months and were living with their three children in a tin shed on the hospital premises. "On Friday night, our daughter Amreen fell ill and began vomiting upon which we brought her to the hospital," Anwar said on Tuesday. "But instead of treating the child immediately, the hospital staff demanded Rs 20,000 in advance." He added that he and his wife pleaded for urgent care and assured staff they would arrange the money, but the latter refused and told them to take the patient to a govt hospital instead. "In the meantime, my daughter died there," Anwar said, breaking down. Dr Sunil Kumar Tyagi, Hapur's CMO, said: "The matter has come to my notice, but no formal complaint has been received so far. However, we are issuing a notice to the private hospital and will investigate. If any wrongdoing is found, strict action will be taken." The hospital management has so far refrained from commenting and said only that a written statement will be submitted to the chief medical officer (CMO). Amreen's body was taken to the family's native village in Bihar on Saturday. This is not the first such incident in Hapur. Last week, two newborns died at the Sikhera Community Health Centre (CHC), allegedly due to a power outage and oxygen shortage. The families said power failed at the CHC, after which the staff referred the infants to the district hospital. However, ambulances took nearly an hour to arrive, and both babies were declared dead on arrival.

CM Yogi Adityanath inspects the under-construction hostel in Ghazipur
GHAZIPUR: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday inspected the under-construction hostel at Maharishi Vishwamitra Autonomous Medical College in Ghazipur. Speaking to reporters after the inspection, the Chief Minister said, "Purvanchal Expressway and Maharshi Vishwamitra Medical College have become the identity of this district. Today, I have inspected an under-construction nursing college. Projects worth Rs 1,100 crores are either approved or are underway..." Earlier on Tuesday, CM Yogi participated in the 25th meeting of the Central Zonal Council, chaired by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
