Dis three-count charge accuse Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan of making false claims say di President of di Nigeria Senate, Godswill Akpabio, bin make plans wit di former Govnor of Kogi State, Yahyah Bello, to kill her.
Di AGF say Akpoti-Uduaghan know say di claims na false but she make am to discredit Akpabio and Bello, and to tarnish dia image.
As di matter come up for court, di court registrar read out di charges to di lawmaker and she plead not guilty to each of dem.
Afta dat, counsel to di Federal Goment, David Kaswe, ask di court to remand di defendant in prison pending wen di trial go commence.
Kaswe claim say im reason be say dem wey be di prosecution bin find am very difficult bifor dem fit serve di defendant wit di charges.
However, di defence counsel Roland Otaru, ask di trial judge to use her discretion and grant im client bail based on di fact say she no be flight risk, she no go fit interfere wit police investigation or wit di witnesses for di case, and di law presume her innocent until proven guilty.
Afta listening to di arguments, Justice Orji agree wit di defence counsel and say she go grant di defendant bail in di sum of 50 million naira and one surety.
Di surety must to get landed property within di jurisdiction of di court, and e must be a pesin of integrity.
She den adjourn di matter to September 23, 2025 for di trial to start.

Retired garda avoids jail for second time over harassment of woman
A retired detective garda who was facing jail time after he contacted a woman despite his conviction for harassing her has had his eight-month custodial sentence suspended on appeal. The District Court Appeals Court heard that Eamon Moran (51) has suffered ill health ever since he was attacked on a 2012 deportation flight and was recently in intensive care. He originally pleaded guilty before the District Court and was convicted of harassment under section 10.1 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997, amended by the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act 2020. He was sentenced to eight months in custody, which was fully suspended for two years on the condition that Moran would make no contact with the injured party and her family, would continue his medical rehabilitation and would stay one kilometre away from the injured party's home. Nigerian Navy cracks down on oil theft, arrests 76 vessels in two years
ABUJA, June 19 (Reuters) - The Nigerian Navy has arrested 76 vessels and at least 242 suspects in anti-oil theft operations, and destroyed more than 800 illegal refining sites during a two-year crackdown, it said on Thursday. Rampant oil theft from pipelines and wells has crippled Nigeria's oil industry in recent years, damaging government finances and stifling exports. Since June 2023, naval authorities have seized around 171,000 barrels of crude and millions of litres of illegally refined fuels from criminal networks, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla said at a briefing in the capital Abuja. The navy also began verifying oil cargoes loaded at Nigeria's five major export terminals in January to combat oil theft at its source, Ogalla said. The navy has acquired patrol boats, three new ships and three AW 139 Trekker helicopters. It is also building two additional seaward defence boats and will take delivery of two 76-meter offshore patrol vessels from Dearsan Shipyard in Turkey.

Pevensey fake Uber driver guilty of sex attacks on Brighton women
A sexual predator who carried a "rape kit" while posing as a fake Uber driver has been found guilty of kidnap and sex offences for a second time following a Head, 68, was convicted of attempting to rape one woman and sexually assaulting another after posing as a taxi driver to approach vulnerable victims in Brighton in retrial at Lewes Crown Court heard that Head changed his story about having contact with one victim on the night he attacked of Pevensey, East Sussex, was first convicted in 2023 but then successfully appealed his sentence in 2024. He will be sentenced again in August following the retrial. One of Head's victims, a 25-year-old woman, died in December 2024 shortly after Head's previous 23-year sentence was quashed. Her death is being investigated by the mother, who attended every day of the retrial, wept as the guilty verdicts were read said: "My biggest hope is that other families can now hopefully feel much safer knowing that this dangerous man is no longer able to predate and attack any other vulnerable young local woman, thanks to his deserved re-conviction for these appalling offences."She continued: "My other hope is that, if there are other young women who feel they may have narrowly escaped or fallen victim to this sexual predator, then they will hopefully be reassured by my daughter's and our family's experience that they will be listened to, supported, and well cared for by the police and court systems." The retrial heard that after being stopped in Brighton in November 2022 Head was found with latex gloves, Viagra, condoms and a balaclava in his silver that night Head told his 25-year-old victim that he was an Uber driver and at the end of his shift, and offered her a free ride in the car he tried to rape her, but she was able to kick him off and escape before giving a partial number plate to emergency been stopped, bodycam footage showed Head telling police: "I know I haven't done it."If I took her to the correct address, that's not kidnapping. "I never said to her I was an Uber driver, I've never said that ever." In August 2022, a 19-year-old woman had reported that she had been attacked after being picked up in central being taken to a park in the city, she texted a friend at 04:15 BST – "I'm being raped."Paul Jarvis KC, prosecuting, said: "When her friend called back the defendant [Head] was startled. He got up and ran off." The woman suffered injuries including bloodied knees, bruising on her ankles and wrists, and grazes on her shook his head and said "No" as the verdicts were Honour Judge Christine Laing KC said: "The defendant has tried twice now to persuade a jury despite, what some might say, was extremely compelling evidence."The second victim's mother thanked Sussex Police, the Crown Prosecution Service and the courts for supporting her daughter and bringing Head to justice.
