New Zealand accounting software giant Xero agreed to buy New York payments provider Melio for $2.5 billion, the companies said on Wednesday, accelerating the Kiwi firm's push in the U.S. market with one of the country's biggest outbound deals. The deal fills a gap in Xero's offer by adding payments to its accounting software while enabling both parties to scale up. Australia-listed, New Zealand-headquartered Xero dominates its home markets but has been trying to grow in the U.S. where it says it makes about 7% of sales. The deal "enables a step change in our North America scale and the potential to help millions of US (small-to-medium businesses) and their accountants better manage their cash flow and accounting on one platform", said Xero CEO Sukhinder Singh Cassidy in a statement.Xero forecast the buyout would double its 2025 financial sales by 2028.Melio co-founder and CEO Matan Bar said he was "excited by our shared purpose to scale in the US and combine Xero's accounting capabilities with Melio's accounts payable and receivable solutions".Shares of Xero were suspended from trading on Wednesday as the A$30 billion ($19.5 billion) market capitalisation company asked institutional investors for A$1.85 billion to help pay for the purchase, but analysts gave a cautious endorsement of the deal."There is much to like in terms of bulking up US exposure with a leading, fast-growing payments player and longer term the proposed deal makes sense," said RBC Capital Markets analyst Garry Sherriff in a client note."It will take time to process the intricacies of the deal and the pathway forward."E&P analyst Paul Mason said the buyout price "looks pretty full for the stand-alone business but works if you think the company can pull off strategic synergies around greater distribution".

Bad news for India, this foreign company no longer interested to open…, but working with suppliers on Rs 860720010000…

Walmart President and CEO Doug McMillon, in an interview with TOI, stated that the company is no longer focused on the brick-and-mortar retail business in India. McMillon explained, 'That's not something we are pursuing. We've learned that it's very challenging. Instead, we're thrilled to have invested in Flipkart.' Walmart CEO Doug McMillon, on his second visit to India in less than 18 months, on Tuesday reiterated the company's commitment to sourcing USD 10 billion worth of goods from the country, saying the retail giant is actively working with local suppliers to meet this target by 2027. McMillon, who has visited India multiple times since becoming the CEO of the Bentonville-headquartered retail giant, said Walmart has increased sourcing from the country over the years, and it is excited with the progress made. 'I have been coming to India for a long time now, many years, and I have made many trips, and what goes through my mind is that there is a story developing that is a bit like a movie,' McMillon said. 'Over the years, the growth story of India is unfolding, and it's really broadening and becoming much more interesting,' he said. In December 2020, Walmart had announced a goal to source USD 10-billion products from India by 2027, aiming to boost exports in apparel, food, toys, and other categories. 'At the beginning, we were sourcing products here with limited categories, but we were excited to get started… look what's happened in our sourcing business. 'It's grown a lot, and now we have this goal of getting to USD 10 billion a year, which is a really big number, and together with the supplier community, we're working to achieve that,' he said. McMillon, who is on a two-day India tour, also had a walk-through here that highlighted Walmart's India growth story, covering exports, digital innovation, building inclusive supply chains and empowering communities. Besides, he interacted with some of the sellers, who were trained under its supplier development programme, Walmart Vriddhi. On its e-commerce arm Flipkart and digital payments solution PhonePe, McMillon said, 'What our teams have done to grow those businesses over the years has been inspiring.' 'We are really learning a lot from those businesses, the ability to innovate, the ability to move with speed, the ability to serve more and more customers, to develop sellers, to build an e-commerce marketplace, business that has just a really bright future and the chance to create a lot of opportunities for everyone,' he added. On PhonePe, McMillon said the financial services businesses, already reaches a lot of people 'and helps us make things more efficient easier'. 'We are very proud of what's happening with the small business… I'm really excited to hear about the work that's happening with agriculture,' he said. Last year, Walmart said it had sourced goods worth over USD 30 billion from the Indian market in the last two decades for its global operations. Walmart is in India for over two decades. Walmart Global sourcing set up office in Bengaluru in 2002, enabling Indian manufacturers to export to the US, Canada, Mexico, central America, and the UK, supplying products to Walmart stores. Titan rises 4% as Macquarie maintains 'Outperform'; top gainer on BSE, NSE

Titan share price today: Eyewear company Titan shares were in focus on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, rising as much as 3.93 per cent to hit an intraday high of ₹3,664.05, on BSE. The stock also emerged as the top gainer on both the BSE and NSE. Around 1:30 PM, Titan share was trading near its day's high at ₹3,663, up 3.90 per cent, while the BSE Sensex was up 0.88 per cent at 82,777.36 levels. The northward move in Titan share price came after Sydney, Australia-based Macquarie reportedly maintained an 'Outperform' rating, with a target price of ₹4,150. The target price reflects an upside of 17.7 per cent from its previous close (June 24) of 3,525.35 per share. Macquarie remains optimistic about the company's near-term prospects, according to reports. It expects healthy demand to support Q1 jewellery growth, even amid elevated gold prices. The brokerage also believes that jewellery Ebit margins may have bottomed out in FY25, paving the way for recovery. For Q1, Macquarie is projecting a 21 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth in both jewellery sales and Ebit. It remains confident in Titan's FY26 jewellery Ebit margin guidance of 11–11.5 per cent, backed by improving demand and a gradually enhancing product mix. On industry trends, Macquarie noted that the adoption of lab-grown diamonds could slow if recent changes by GIA (Gemological Institute of America) regarding certifications are implemented. Meanwhile, it sees signs of demand recovery in the mined diamond segment. Titan currently holds about a 7 per cent market share in the Indian jewellery market, which has grown at a 13 per cent CAGR over the past 15 years, positioning the company well to benefit from the sector's long-term growth, the report said. Financially, Titan reported a 13 per cent Y-o-Y rise in net profit to ₹871 crore for Q4FY25, driven by robust sales across key segments. Revenue from operations grew 19.4 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹14,916 crore. Sequentially, however, profit fell 16.8 per cent, and revenue declined 15.9 per cent. Earnings before interest, depreciation, and tax rose 22.4 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹1,653 crore. The jewellery segment, led by brands like Tanishq, Mia, and Zoya, posted a 25 per cent Y-o-Y revenue jump to ₹11,232 crore, with gold and coin sales up 30 per cent and studded jewellery up 12 per cent. The watches and wearables business grew 20 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹1,126 crore, while the eyecare segment saw a 16 per cent rise to ₹192 crore. Emerging businesses, including Taneira and F&FA, registered 5 per cent growth with revenue at ₹102 crore. Nuvama, in a note dated May 8, maintained a 'Buy' rating and raised its target price to ₹4,541 from ₹4,115. The revision came on the back of strong Q4FY25 performance and continued demand momentum. According to the brokerage, Titan's jewellery segment delivered a notable Ebit margin of 11.9 per cent in Q4FY25, outperforming expectations. This was driven by operating leverage, a revived solitaire segment, and modest hedging gains, even as gross margins came under pressure and the studded jewellery ratio declined by 300 basis points year-on-year (Y-o-Y). Despite elevated gold prices, the company posted a 25 per cent Y-o-Y growth in jewellery sales, supported by strong festive and wedding demand. With a higher number of wedding dates in Q1FY26, Nuvama anticipates robust demand continuing into the current quarter. Reflecting this positive outlook, the brokerage raised its FY26 and FY27 revenue estimates by 4 per cent and 5 per cent, respectively, and tweaked PAT estimates upward by 2 per cent and 5 per cent. A valuation rollover to FY27E supports the new target price, it added.
