DANNY Drinkwater's plans for a change of formation at his dream £5million new build mansion have been ruled "on-side" by planners.
The former Chelsea and Leicester midfielder, 35, wants to demolish a former World War II munitions shed to make way for a seven-bed superhome - complete with a club room.

It comes after the now-retired star was forced to alter previous plans and apply for a special licence from Natural England after a survey revealed the area is a popular roosting spot for endangered bats.
Planners at the local council had slammed the "inappropriate" and "disproportionate" development on green belt land, but ultimately the changes were considered sufficient.
Drinkwater's plans incorporate a special 19x13ft "bat loft" to allow access to the furry mammals.
The luxury Georgian-style pad will boast a swimming pool, gym and cinema in the footballers' haven of Alderley Edge, Cheshire.
It will also feature a grand entrance hall, orangery, drawing room, boot room, lift and no less than seven bedrooms, each with their own dressing room.
Drinkwater was first granted planning permission for the stately pile four YEARS ago but building work has still not started.
And now he wants to move the proposed 36ftx13 indoor pool, gym and four-bay garage into two separate outbuildings.
In a statement, his planning agent said: "Since the granting of permission and the initial implementation of the proposals, the applicant wishes to alter the design as consented to suit the preferences and requirements of his family in the creation of a family home.
"The purpose of the revised design is to reduce the bulk of the main house elevation and garage so that the home may sit more freely in the landscape and to improve openness in the green belt setting."
Original plans for the new build included a snug, wine store, morning and evening terrace, library and office but these have now been subbed off.
Ex-Man Utd and Chelsea star Juan Mata turns to 11 football legends including Eric Cantona to help launch new career
The proposed site is a seven-acre farm that was used by the military with a number of munitions and railway sheds served by a now disused railway.
Drinkwater won the Premier League with Leicester in 2016 but made just 23 appearances for Chelsea in four years including several unsuccessful loan spells.
He hung up his boots two years ago after leaving Reading at the end of the 2021-22 season and is now a property developer.
Last year, he hit back at a troll after posting a picture of himself "grafting" on a building site.
He got plenty of derisory comments including one that read: "F***ing hell Danny, you've hit rock bottom."
But he hit back, saying: "Some of these messages, behave. I love being on site grafting! It's a choice."
Officials at Cheshire East Council gave his amended new build plans the go-ahead after there were no objections from neighbours.
They said: "It is accepted that the proposed scheme provides a more sustainable home on the site whilst having a measurably smaller and more visually appropriate impact on the country setting."
The Sun has contacted Drinkwater for comment.
What is special about Alderley Edge?
Alderley Edge is part of Cheshire's 'Golden Triangle' - an affluent area of small towns and villages which also includes Wilmslow and Prestbury.
Set in glorious countryside, the area is known for its expensive homes, high-end shops and upmarket bars and restaurants.
It is popular with wealthy Premier League footballers and celebrities, and has earned a reputation as a millionaire's playground and a place to see and be seen.
London Road, running through the centre of Alderley Edge, is frequently lined with millions of pounds worth of Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Bugattis as well as luxury 4X4s and other cars.
The gated mansions offer peace and privacy and current residents on one particular road include Liverpool's Andy Robertson and his teammate Alexis Mac Allister.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson once lived there as well as ex-United keeper Sergio Romero.
And Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is also thought to own a property on the road.

RB Leipzig interested in signing Chelsea star in Xavi Simons transfer deal
RB Leipzig have asked Chelsea about the possibility of including Tyrique George in a deal for Xavi Simons, according to reports. Chelsea's hierarchy have set their sights on signing Simons having already brought in Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr across a busy transfer window. The Blues are also keen to capture Simons' Netherlands team-mate Jorrel Hato and are believed to have reached a £34.5million agreement with Ajax to sign the 19-year-old defender. While Chelsea are yet to make a breakthrough in their talks for Simons, discussions have been positive and the attacking midfielder skipped training on Friday, further fuelling speculation of an impending switch to Stamford Bridge. The Dutchman has also removed all mention of Leipzig on his social media pages – just another indication that he has no intention of continuing his stay at Red Bull Arena beyond the summer. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. However, the German outfit are said to be holding out a fee in the region of £60million for Simons and it remains to be seen if Chelsea will be prepared to stump up the required cash before the deadline. According to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig are interested in Chelsea youngster George and have floated the idea of using the 19-year-old winger as a makeweight in a proposed deal for Simons during recent negotiations. It's claimed George 'wants to leave' Chelsea in search of regular playing time and a permanent move could be possible for the England Under-19 international. Leipzig's Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach are also said to be monitoring George's situation in west London. Chelsea are determined to avoid a repeat of last season when Enzo Maresca's attacking options were left desperately thin on the ground following injuries to several key players – and Simons' versatility is greatly appealing to the Europa Conference League winners. Arsenal have also been eyeing a move for Simons, but the Gunners' interest remains just that for the time being and no concrete talks have taken place. The north London giants are, instead, prioritising a move for Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze. Simons, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain and PSV Eindhoven, is tied into a contract with Leipzig until June 2027. More Trending George also has two years remaining on his current deal with Chelsea – the club he joined at the age of just eight. Midway through George's breakout season in the first-team, Jadon Sancho said the teenager had 'the world at his feet'. 'Tyrique has the world at his feet, top guy and such a humble human being,' Sancho wrote on Instagram. 'He deserves every bit of success coming his way!' 'I don't think I'll ever get over it': John Terry opens up on his 2008 Champions League final penalty miss - as former Chelsea captain admits he still 'wakes up and can see it'
John Terry has opened up on his infamous penalty shootout blunder during Chelsea 's 2008 Champions League final defeat against Manchester United. Terry took what could have been the decisive penalty at the end of a 1-1 draw in the first-ever final between two English clubs, but slipped on the run-up and hit the post to send the shootout into sudden death. Nicolas Anelka went on to miss Chelsea's seventh spot-kick to hand Man United a domestic and European double, but Terry's miss is still seen as the decisive and iconic moment at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium. Over 17 years on from that portentous night, Terry has revealed that his costly mistake still plays on his mind. 'It's the hardest trophy to win and being in the final meant the world to everyone,' Terry told FourFourTwo. 'Playing in a Champions League final against a team from your own country was strange, but they were a great side and it was a tough slog of a game. 'I wasn't actually supposed to take one of the first five penalties, but Didier Drogba had been sent off. I still think about my miss to this day. Honestly - not as often as I used to, but I still wake up and it's there. I can see it. 'When you look back on your career, the trophies mean a lot but the ones you missed out on can haunt you and I won't forget that one. I don't think I'll ever get over it.' Despite his heartbreak in 2008, Terry did go on to win a Champions League title later down the line. Although he was suspended for the final, Terry took home a winners' medal when Chelsea overcame Bayern Munich to win Europe's elite club competition in 2012. The defender explained that that success makes his blunder in Moscow a lot easier to come to terms with. Terry added: 'I was broken by it. I'm just so thankful we won it in 2012. That helps me massively.' Last year, Terry revealed on the Up Front Podcast that it was 'probably the worst moment in my footballing career'. He said: 'I'm still not over it today. I don't think I ever will be. It's interesting because as a player you have so many highs, but it's the lows that stay with you longer. 'That night we lost we went back to the hotel and the manager was asking us all to go down for a drink, but I stayed in my room because I couldn't face the lads. Eventually I went down and had a beer with the rest of the group. 'I just remember standing in my hotel room on the 25th floor, looking over Moscow and asking myself, 'why then, why did it start raining then, why did I slip? 'The hardest thing for me was that three days later we had a friendly for England against USA at Wembley and we drew 1-1 I scored a header from outside of the box. If I could swap any two goals in my career it'd be those two.' He also previously told Sky in the months after the miss: 'Every morning I wake up, that's the first thing I think about. I am still so desperately disappointed about it. 'But I am a big man with a big character and it is now down to me to deal with that.' Speaking ahead of the 2008-09 season, he added: 'I'm certainly looking forward to the new season so I can wipe away that bitter disappointment for the club, and especially for me.'

Thomas Partey set to join new club two days before appearing in court over rape charges
Thomas Partey is due to pen a two-year deal with Villarreal after seeing his Arsenal contract expire as the Ghanaian also prepares to appear in court after being hit with several charges Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is due to join Villarreal this summer after his contract at the Emirates expired, leaving him free to seek pastures new. The 32-year-old Ghanaian has undergone a medical and is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Spanish club, which will see him play with the Yellow Submarine until 2027. It will mark his return to La Liga having played there during his Atletico Madrid days. Partey was keen to remain in the Champions League and that was a major factor in him choosing Villarreal, who finished fifth in Spain last term. The midfielder had been linked with moves to clubs in Europe and the Middle East throughout the season. The Athletic reported that the ex-Atletico man was in talks over staying at the Emirates but an agreement could not be reached on the terms of a deal despite the two parties trying until late in the day. Partey joined the club from Atletico for £45million back in 2020 and has been part of their rise to title challengers under Mikel Arteta. All in all he made 167 appearances for Arsenal, scoring nine goals, including one in a north London derby win. Shortly after the Ghanaian's Arsenal exit was confirmed he was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He denies all charges. He had been the subject of an investigation that began in February 2022. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday August 5. Arteta was asked for his reaction to the news of Partey's charges and said: "The club was very clear in its statement. There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated so I cannot comment on any of that. Quizzed further on whether he was confident the club has followed the right process he replied: "100%." Arsenal have made several additions in the middle of the pitch with Martin Zubimendi among their key signings. The Spanish midfielder joins from Real Sociedad after being on the club's radar 12 months ago and will assist the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. Christian Norgaard has also joined from Brentford with the Dane adding more depth to the team's midfield options. Arteta has also captured more firepower in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon and Noni Madueke from Chelsea. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
