What these cut-offs mean
Each UGC NET cycle determines cut-offs based on:
Total number of test-takers
Subject difficulty
Number of available fellowships and teaching positions
Reservation norms
Candidates scoring equal to or above the cut-off in their respective categories are eligible for that level of qualification.
What's next for qualified candidates?
JRF awardees become eligible for government-funded research fellowships during their PhD studies.
Assistant Professor-qualified candidates can apply directly for faculty roles in colleges and universities.
PhD-only eligible candidates meet minimum requirements for doctoral program admissions, but not for lectureship or fellowship unless further qualified.

CSIR-NCL's event sparks scientific spirit in students
Pune: CSIR-NCL's event sparks scientific spirit in students The CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL) concluded its weeklong flagship outreach program 'One Day as A Scientist' (ODAS) on July 25. Organised under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) initiative, the program welcomed over 400 students from Classes 8 to 10 across Pune, Mumbai, and other regions of Maharashtra for an immersive scientific experience. Designed to ignite curiosity and inspire future innovators, ODAS offered students a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of real scientists, engaging with cutting-edge research, state-of-the-art laboratories, and pioneering scientists at CSIR-NCL. Throughout the five-day event, students participated in a diverse mix of activities, including expert-led science sessions, hands-on experiments, DIY workshops, and guided lab tours, all aimed at making science accessible and engaging. Topics ranged from biotechnology and artificial intelligence to green chemistry and waste recycling. Dr Ashish Lele, director of CSIR-NCL, inaugurated the program, highlighting the lab's contributions to sustainable technologies and industrial innovation. 'At CSIR-NCL, science is about creating solutions. Our goal is to transform research into technologies that impact lives,' said Lele, urging students to pursue careers in science to help build a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). The program featured lectures by CSIR-NCL scientists, including Samir Chikkali on plastic waste depolymerisation, Aakash Sharma on scientific thinking, Shubhangi Umbarkar on green technology, and Manohar V. Badiger on super-absorbent polymers. Other topics covered included DNA and biotechnology by Narendra Kadoo, AI in chemical industries by M. Karthikeyan, and plastic recycling by Harshawardhan Pol. PRSU reopens PhD admissions for newly qualified UGC NET candidates
Prayagraj: Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University has reopened applications for PhD admissions to include candidates who recently qualified for the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) 2025. The decision was officially made on July 28, and a fresh notification was issued by registrar Sanjay Kumar on Monday, announcing that the new deadline for PhD applications is now August 8. Previously, the last date to apply was July 26. The move comes after several candidates approached the university administration requesting another opportunity to apply. These students were awaiting the results of the UGC NET exam, which was declared on July 21. As a result, they were unable to submit their applications during the initial window. Responding to this concern, the university allowed all newly qualified NET candidates to apply for PhD programmes. The university has also made it clear that PhD admissions will be granted strictly on the basis of the UGC NET 2025 score. No separate entrance exam will be conducted, ensuring a streamlined and merit-based selection process. This decision is expected to benefit hundreds of research aspirants who have long awaited an opportunity to pursue doctoral studies.
