Birmingham City set for new Amazon doc as fans prepare for Wembley
Newly promoted Birmingham City has announced it will be the subject of a new documentary, produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.The Blues will appear on the Amazon Prime series this summer giving fans a look behind the scenes as they are promoted to the EFL Sky Bet Championship.It comes as more than 40,000 fans are expected to travel to Wembley Stadium on Sunday as the team takes on Peterborough in the final of the Vertu Trophy. Fans including comedian Jasper Carrot have expressed their excitement for the cup final, which Birmingham last won in 1995.
Carrott, real name Robert Davis, will be heading to the game on Sunday, and told BBC Radio WM as a child he never dreamt of being a comedy icon, or a pop star, he wanted to play for his beloved Birmingham City.
"The dream was to be a footballer, I started supporting Birmingham City when I was nine."The fourth game I went to we beat Liverpool 9-1, and that year we went up into the first division and the next year we were sixth in the first division, we got to the FA Cup Final, we lost to Man City, so I thought this is the side for me. "This is my team...and 56 years later we won something."
Travelling by train
Network Rail has said trains between Birmingham and London will be busier than usual and said fans should check before they travel.Services will not call at Solihull, Dorridge, Hatton, Lapworth or Warwick on Sunday but extra services will run between Warwick Parkway to Wembley Stadium.For fan, CJ, travelling by train is not something he needs to worry about.He is travelling more than 4,000 miles from Atlanta, Georgia for the game on Sunday.The Blues fan moved to America with his wife in 2021 and said he had explained to her how "you don't get to Wembley very often being a Birmingham fan, so you do everything you can to get back."He said: "My wife has come to Blues games and she understands how it is like a religion to us in Birmingham. "I am looking forward to hopefully them lifting the trophy."
Micky Singh, from Hall Green, chair of supporters group Blues 4 All, has been a season ticket holder at St Andrew's for more than 20 years. Ahead of travelling to the final with his children and grandchildren, he said: "It's amazing, you get to Wembley and you get to the Wembley steps... I'm looking forward to being there on Sunday, watching all the crowd with the family, so excited."Sarah Tullett, Blues fan and landlady of the Hunting Tree in Halesowen where a coach is heading to Wembley, said she is opening up earlier to accommodate fans."We have got a coach, we are putting breakfast on...it's going to be great." Birmingham City play Peterborough United FC in the Vertu Trophy Final on Sunday at 15:00 BST.

Chelsea make swap deal offer for €60m Barcelona star in summer transfer window
Chelsea have launched a swap deal offer to sign Barcelona star Fermin Lopez in the summer transfer window, according to reports. The La Liga champions are believed to have slapped a €60m (£50.6m) price tag on the 22-year-old Spain international. Lopez has mainly operated as an attacking midfielder and central midfielder but can also be deployed as a left winger. He registered five goal involvements across 11 Champions League games for Barcelona in the 2024-25 season as the club reached the semi-finals. Lopez, who came through Barcelona's academy, also played 28 times in the Spanish top-flight in 2024-25, producing six goals and five assists. Chelsea are keen to bring Lopez to Stamford Bridge and Mundo Deportivo reports that they've offered up Christopher Nkunku as part of a swap deal. The Spanish outlet adds that Barcelona have already rejected the swap deal proposal – despite the Catalan club being in need of a new striker. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick views Lopez as an important player – and despite not being a goalscorer – he has almost equalled Nkunku's figures. It is thought Barcelona would only be willing to sell Fermin if he asks to leave the club in search of more playing time, with the player currently battling Dani Olmo for regular minutes in the attacking midfield role. A move to Barcelona is off the cards for now – but Nkunku still looks set for a Chelsea exit this summer – especially after the Blues signed Liam Delap. In April, Nkunku told Chelsea he wanted to leave in the summer transfer window after receiving interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich. Last week, it was reported that Tottenham had made an initial approach to sign the 27-year-old Frenchman. Nkunku has only been at Chelsea for two years, joining the west London club in a £52m deal from German side RB Leipzig. His spell with the Blues has been largely impacted by injury issues but he's managed 56 appearances to date, conjuring up 17 goals and five assists. Nkunku has mainly operated as a back-up option for Chelsea's main striker Nicolas Jackson. Clarkson Farm fans delighted after star shares 'great' health news
Fans of Clarkson's Farm have been relieved to hear that resident builder Alan Townsend – or Alan the Builder – is doing well following his recent heart surgery. Viewers have grown to love Diddly Squat handyman Alan, who's been integral in helping Jeremy Clarkson open his new pub, The Farmer's Dog. In the fourth series, which is currently airing on Amazon Prime, Alan revealed that he was facing major heart surgery. In scenes filmed last year, the middle-aged builder told Jeremy that he was feeling 'terrified' ahead of his upcoming appointment. 'Yeah, we're in next Tuesday at the hospital. Quadruple bypass coming,' he revealed as he and Jeremy celebrated the pub's opening. He continued: 'I don't even like thinking about it. That's why I keep going to work — keep out of the way. They told me to really just take it easy and stay at home. But if you stay, you'll be worrying to death about it.' Updating fans via an Instagram comment this week, Alan has revealed how that surgery went – and he's now doing vey well, thanks for asking. In a post on Instagram, Alan shared an image of himself with Clarkson's Farm co-star Gerald Cooper, hard at work digging a hole in the property. 'Gerald and Alan digging post holes at their age??' Alan captioned the image. Talk quickly turned to Alan's heart surgery, with one fan pointing out how healthy the builder was looking. 'Alan how did the heart surgery go? He also revealed an £85 date night menu – and was hit with fresh controversy after using an AI image to advertise the event.
